Scandinavian Street Style #1

Honestly speaking one rarely sees so many overweight people around Scandinavia, I'm from Finland and I don't think that so many are that overweight or obese. I think you get what I mean? Most of the people are relatively "normal".

This was so sweet, to have a style and stick with it:

Helena (62)
"I'm always dressed up in one colour only. I switch between orange, yellow and red.
My niece makes most of my clothes like this hat, jacket and skirt. If I shop, I buy something cheap and nice-coloured. I cannot tell you how big my wardrobe is! A way too big, I must admit."

Raakel (17) and Hanna (16)
Raakel: "The music I listen to in the morning, sets the clothes I wear. My favorite brand is Diesel. These jeans are Cheap Monday, boots and bag are second hand, shirts are from Brussels."
Hanna: "My friend gave me this leather jacket, my grandmother made these shorts. She has made lots of clothes for me – she's my favorite designer!"

I actually think that the first girl is a friend of my friends, I think she has a nice style :) Quite many dress like those girls and I prefer that look so much more than the Gothic lolita/rorita/whatever which has been going on for too long.

i like the boots and the first girls belt.. thats about it.. but i do like this style over the gothic (by this i mean huge platform boots, pvc pants etc and not the good old gothic style such as bauhaus or dm represents)...but yeah they arent that original at all.. gotta admit that

I wasn't saying they were original, after all what is original anymore? But at least they dress better than most "teenagers" in Finland, imho.

And YAY, Finland won the Eurovision song contest, I'm so freaking excited about that althought I'm not a Lordi fan or Eurovision fan! Finally we made it! :D

there is something really sweet with the first lady who is all in orange, although the clothes are kind of awful

i think the girls have good style but original.. well you see that same style everyday when you go to town, not just in helsinki. those alternative kids are taking over finland :D

waauw i really love the pictures on this topic! good for my inspiration :D

i'm kinda new here so excuse me if things don't go like i ment ;)

yep, which is good imo.. in my town there arent too many of them yet so i feel good to be one of the bellwethers there. ;) although i try to make the finnish street scene more original than vero moda clothes etc...

well in vaasa the indiescenestyle is really popular among young finland-swedes. and with young i mean 13-17 year old

so where are the pics of people from Sweden?

Haha... in Helsinki, indie/rocker style has long ago become the new "pissis" (god I love how that word looks in the middle of a sentence in english!). It's just that the tight low rise bootcut jeans are replaced with low rise straight leg jeans, and the platform shoes with chucks... :innocent:

i like the last one and the girl with green shirt

this is quite harsh generalization but i would say that vaasa is almost like stockholm when it comes to style. there are these typical trendy h&m modeldoll-a-like people and then those who dress in indierockstyle. those are the two mainstream styles in here. indie style is more popular among the finland-swedes and then finnishspeakers dress in h&m style - in general
