Scariest collections ever?

I will definitely agree with all those of you who pointed out that a label like Phat Farm is genuinely frightening because someone like Kimora would think that what she's putting out is the ideal beauty-- and not at all frighteningly tacky and cheap looking.

As for the likes of Miyake, Tischi and particularly McQueen, there's such a deep and rich repository of reference in what they design that they amaze, thrill and inspire us with their creations rather than just flatly frighten. I think they challenge the beauty and fashion system with the macabre, the unconventional and the non-conformity of their design: It's the harmony of the beauty and the barbarity that thrills me about their collections.

Phat Farm, Zac Posen, Betsey Johnson... truly frightening crap...

Do you think it was the film? Because there was a film proyected into a large balloon I think before the show started.

And the inspiration came from the fact that he had some ancestor who was accused of being a witch or something like that?

What I found confusing, was the make up ... I couldnt get over it ..
Yes, that was the inspiration.
About that show, everybody said that was too scary, and the catwalk was confusing, i liked, i wish i was there:heart:

I'm surprised no one's mentioned it yet, but I thought a fairly disturbing collection this season, S.S 2011, was Commes des Garcons.

Just a few examples of the eeriness of it all. Something about those hats and shoes get me.

not sure if i would necessarily consider it 'scary' or 'frightening' but boudicca's s/s 02 collection entitled 'transition(corporate deserter)' was very moving and hard hitting. the models came out wearing white, expressionless masks and walked almost like drones down the catwalk. it really hit the nail. that's when i became a fan of them.

all of these are absolutely amazing, aside from the chanel & baby phat mentions.... but the things that frighten us to our core, those macabre and fascinating things everyone's been posting, they have such a great impact on me. it's so much more horrific than just something that's aesthetically unpleasing, and the fact that these designers consciously made those decisions to try and evoke such an emotion from us really interests me. i'm captivated.

One collection has given me nightmares... it was Alexander McQueen from Fall 2009... It's never happened since but for a week straight I saw women coming at me with that make up... and everytime I see the collection I get nauseous. That was the point at which I realized I belong in fashion, if I am that affected by a show.

Totally. The first photo reminds me of the twins in The Shining.

I have a thing against covered faces/masks :ninja:

^^I think either works.

Christopher Kane SS 08
...the collection was inspired by cheap, B-horror films...with the grungy mixture of tattered bleached denim, dusty snakeskin, steel toed boots...you can easily picture these girls with hockey masks and blood-stained chainsaws!

**please do not quote images**

Oh i really hate that one! After the amazing previous collection he had, i believe that one was his first with the little neon dresses, he showed THAT?!

hahahaa omg yes! What was that?! I adore the collection but those lips..omg.. :o

^^ It was really scary like they were floating because they couldn't walk in teh dresses and those lips were just so big... I still get nauseous when looking at it which is why I didn't post any images.

I've got a particularly scary moment from the famous McQueen F/W 07 collection. When in fact the whole thing didn't seem to be that scary to me, that look really gave me the creeps. Lee's masks always freak me out :ninja:

Also Aguri Sagimori who is always dark and a little freaky... first colelction was like Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. Spilled blood necklaces, messy hair, the deer heads in the weaving pattern... and later collections have the butterfly boards etc.
These are my courtesy photos from Aguri.

i think the worst thing galliano ever did was that homeless/tramp collection in which he attached dead mice to the edge of that dress in 2000. the ripped up one that was famously worn by courtney love(w/o the mice of course). it wasn't necessarily scary but certainly the most vile thing.

as far as truly scary,i think anything versace and roberto cavalli and the like ever has done and continue to do is pretty frightening to me because their vision of women is objective in the worst way....very plastic, gaudy uber-blonde....absolutely no personality.

otherwise i never am scared of an idea. as long as it has substance and a sense of poetry about it.
omg yes i remember that galliano collection!!! i remember stella tennant uncomfortably wearing that fox hat:sick:
