Scariest collections ever?

I did not think that CDG's Blob collection was scary I think the reacurring creepy clown thing is scary.

Also, Arsenicum by Enton, this Russian menswear label likes to shock people with their styling presentations

The image came from style.com collections...was I supposed to post the link to it?

^ Not the link, but tFS requires that any images posted are accompanied by the source that they came from. Posting Style.com under the photo is suitable.

this is a great thread.

^from Margiela's 1997 exhibit of clothes treated with various molds/mildews. as the treated garments sat unmoving in the museum displays, the organic matter continued to spread over and discolor the garments. while fashion designers conventionally present clothes on models (i.e., the living being displays the garment), the thought behind this collection was a reversal, i.e., that the garment displays the living matter.

there was this one collection..
it might have been early 2000s
or 99 or 98..when style channel used to
show runway videos there was this one
collection i saw where the models had
spandex outfits in all types of colors and it
covered their whole body..i dont remember if they
weere on stilts and i dont remember the collection
i was young^_^:blush:..but it scared me:shock::cry:

oh my god. I desperately need that Belgian fashion design book.

And thank you for finding and sharing the Issey Miyake designs!
Those are definitely prescriptive of the unsettling Japanese abstraction I wanted to bring to the thread. Miyake's work is also currently featured at FIT's Gothic fashion exhibit.

shirleebee, when i went into the strand bookstore friday, they had a copy of the belgian fashion design book for $50 (i actually bought my copy at the strand a few months ago for the same price). i think it is money well spent...but since you are in NYC, if you are near the strand you should at least pop in and flip through it to see for yourself if it is something you might want.

Christian Dior Haute Couture S/S 2006.

Sooooo scary, thats why its one of my favourites ever.

The freakiest collections always come from Galliano. Thierry Mugler has some incredibly bizzare pieces too.

i think the worst thing galliano ever did was that homeless/tramp collection in which he attached dead mice to the edge of that dress in 2000. the ripped up one that was famously worn by courtney love(w/o the mice of course). it wasn't necessarily scary but certainly the most vile thing.

as far as truly scary,i think anything versace and roberto cavalli and the like ever has done and continue to do is pretty frightening to me because their vision of women is objective in the worst way....very plastic, gaudy uber-blonde....absolutely no personality.

otherwise i never am scared of an idea. as long as it has substance and a sense of poetry about it.
