Semi-permanent hair color

I want to dye my dark blonde hair to a medium brown. What drugstore brand of semi-permant products are good? I used Natural Instincts a long time ago and it hardly did anything, though I chose a pretty dark color. What actually has results, and will let me change my color? Most are intended to cover gray.

I have medium-to-dark blonde hair (maybe a strawberry blonde color now), and have had mediocre results with semi-permanent color. I've done L'oreal's Color Pulse a few times... the red color... saw results, but it ended up being too dark for my hair, and therefore permanetly colored it.

Since you have blonde hair, it may be tought for you to go only semi-permanent with a darker color. I've had that experience, anyway.
