I like the Malandrino take on the jacket. For me, there has to be an aviator type influence or something a bit fresh on the proportions/color/closure method to be interesting or worth while. The burberry ones are gorgeous

I like the one on Frida!

i think this is the answer to the rough economy...
with the fur inside or just on the collar, the whole thing is more understated...

the whole understated luxury thing is important to retailers during a difficult economy..
many people still have money to spend but don't want to draw attention/jealousy...
we'll see more and more of this sort of thing...

luxury in a less obvious way...^_^

I got a jacket like this a few years ago, my father always referred to it as "shepherd" jacket (), but just recently I donated it to Goodwill, as I'd grown tired of it, and never really wore it anymore. Don't miss it or anything...but I am curious, did this try to be a trend a few years ago, and just never really took off? Cause I'm pretty sure I got that jacket from Forever 21, and they don't usually sell much stuff that isn't a trend at the moment (or trying to be). :innocent:

Anyway, I quite like the sleeves and detailing on the jacket Hanne is wearing and on the jackets in the runway pictures below that. :)

No, you're right. I'd completely forgotten about it until your post, but I bought a similar men's coat from Old Navy a few years ago as well.

I can't tell if I genuinely like the Michael Bastian coat, or if it's a case of the model looking so good that he's making the clothes look better by association.

aren't these basically stylized versions of bomber jackets and flight jackets?
