Thought this was interesting:
AND FRESH FROM JUST A FEW HOURS AGO IN LOS ANGELES, THE NEW BALENCIAGA STORE DESIGNED BY DOMINIQUE GONZALEZ-FOERSTER. GET THIS: THE STORE INTERIOR HAS NO RIGHT ANGLES AT ALL WHICH MAKES FOR A SPACEY EXPERIENCE WHEN TRYING TO NAVIGATE YOUR WAY AROUND THE MIRROR-FILLED BOUTIQUE.

marvystone where did you get the text from ? :o

no right angles just means .. er .. nothing 90 degrees ..there could be so much anything else really, obtuse / acute
maybe they mean no sharp angles

a blog which various colette employees post on, I guess combined with mirrors all over the place it could be tricky:huh:

the Nina Ricci store in Paris is getting a makeover..two tiny pics and the story from wwd:

RICCI REDO: The Nina Ricci flagship in Paris is getting a top-to-toe makeover. The landmark boutique at 33 Avenue Montaigne was shuttered last week for extensive construction work, including the alteration of its central staircase, to make way for a new design concept by Ricci’s artistic director, Olivier Theyskens.

The boutique is slated to reopen this summer with a decor melding elements of a typical Parisian apartment with the mood of Venice in wintertime. Elements include gray marble floors, moldings inspired by the 19th century, walls covered with jacquard fabric and futuristic furniture.

Having applied his ethereal and romantic approach to Ricci’s fashion collections for the past three seasons, Theyskens is now extending his aesthetic to the retail floor and, later this year, to a complete accessories collection.

^ I dislike the furniture, it looks so cold and unwelcoming. Like something from star treck. Very very bright

^haha  i actually love it.. it's calm , serene.. the palette.. and the lights underneath the furniture. it will look more inviting in the end maybe? jacquard wallpaper mmmm.. seems like it will be a modern day art nouveau

^ oh my goodness, i adore the merchandising, most especially for the shirokanedai location!

I too like the Shirokanedai location. Looks very cozy, almost like a house or something. I'm not a big fan of the other store, however. Too bright!

the shops look so inviting / inspiring
you can tell how much care they took in designing, laying out the set
the choices in the specific flooring tile and wall treatments
it makes me want to be an interiors designer myself :ninja:

i see these colour palettes in japanese girls' fashion so often
it totally reeks of So-En  must be quite popular.. would do charms if it rise in popularity here --only notice this amongst them artist students...

thanks marvystone !
by the way, i'm editing your post to upload the photos to Imageshack
so we can enjoy them for longer periods :lucky:

Lairesse Apotheek

Location: Amsterdam

The big selling point: Off-the-wall yet brilliantly functional pharmacy.

What's in store: Druggist Marjan Terpstra didn't want to follow the clinical formula of most European pharmacies when she opened Lairesse Apotheek in a former bank in Amsterdam's Oud Zuid museum quarter. So she hired Dutch architects Concrete, whose clients have included Mercedes Benz and Utrecht's Centraal Museum, to seamlessly mix the homeopathic with the medicinal in an inviting but still vividly contemporary environment. The result is as surreal as it is stunning. The heart of the enterprise is a circular room, its floors printed with gingko leaf photos, anchored by a rounded bank of more than 500 drawers that glow pale green as the light refracts through them. The outward-facing drawers stock over-the-counter remedies, holistic products, and good-for-you grooming goods; prescription medications are put in drawers that turn inward, so only pharmacists have access. But perhaps the most standout element of the interior is the giant tree trunk, which appears to grow up from the floor, through the curved cement checkout counter, and into the ceiling.
