Simon Porte Jacquemus - Designer, Creative Director of Jacquemus

I'm still thinking he would have been the perfect choice to make CHANEL relevant and "trendy" among the general public (who actually spends the money on clothing / accessories). Blazy is praised by the fashion pack who gets everything for free / hugely discounted but apart from the Andiamo knot he didn't succeed in making an impact among the general public with little knowledge of high fashion panorama.
With CHANEL budget he would have probably built a Versailles palace miniature replica inside the Grand Palais from scratch just for his 20 minutes debut show...

Maybe they are having a financial issue? They didn't produced the regular campaign for last season, and are sponsored their upcoming show by Apple. It's same with Coperni. Coperni also didn't produce 2024 FW campaign, and their last show was sponsored by Diseney. Also, Coperni hired way lesser know photographer for Holiday campaign this season. If it's true, I think it's quite interesting, they made huge buzz by their image. but it means it didn't help their sales. I thought their okay because they at least made some kind of hit in a bag
He went to Apple headquarters last fall, just before the opening of his NYC store, so that was kind of expected. Plus maybe a collab on trendy Apple items... Jacquemus phone cases ?

This exhibition at the Louvre is a cash grab for naive tourists. This year's Paul Poiret: Fashion is a Feast will probably be wonderful.

Apple has been trying to be recognized as a fashion product for several years. They are succeeding poorly, but you can see they are still struggling.

Angela Ahrendts went from Burberry to Apple and did a great job about Apple perception (as being more fashionable than Samsung). Maybe they are looking for new input.

^ There have been talks of him launching a beauty or fragrance line since 2021. At the time, Puig acquired a 10% stake in his brand with the intention of collaborating on a beauty launch. However, it never materialized, and he eventually bought back the stake.

I wonder why. He already has a young clientele that would likely be drawn to his beauty and fragrance offerings. It’s still a possibility and may well happen in the near future, perhaps with a different partner. Whether Puig would consider re-entering as a minority investor is unclear.

Quoting myself because here we are 2 months later and Jacquemus inks a beauty deal with L'Oréal

I’m not surprised he went with a French company but I didn’t expect L’Oreal. They are really serious about this fashion thing!

In reality, I expected Clarins to jump in. They lost Mugler to L’Oreal and I saw Jacquemus as the right partner to successfully get back into fashion with the potential to have a HIT fragrance.

This is going to be an interesting time for Jacquemus. He finally has a CEO, he can seat at the table with the Meyers-Bettencourt and can now concentrate on design and quality.

I’m hoping the best for him.
But yes I can see his fragrance be a HIT.
Fragrance, body oil, body cream. The whole set!

Glad for him. He did it all alone. He had a vision. Love him or hate him, sometimes you need to give credit where credit is due!!! Brava Simon!!! ❤️

I think a Jacquemus perfume could make a lot of sense, I can already imagine it, summery, Mediterranean, it could work very well! Another product that I could see for the brand is a line of sun creams!
But will anyone buy that? The market is so heavily over saturated with perfumes that Jacquemus has a serious competition

Yes, but he needs a signature bottle design and a strong marketing strategy. I envision his perfumes aligning with Billie Eilish’s aesthetic ("artsy", Instagram-able and unconventional, even if I don't like her bottles) and not something pretentious and expensive (Bottega)

i actually think he will go for something a bit more timeless. Maybe the box or the name will be cringey but the bottle will be something timeless and modern.

I can imagine something à la Acqua di Parma Blu mediterraneo line, with his classic logo, blue-white with a touch of yellow. Simple but bold. A campaign with a super model and a boy, kissing half-naked at the beach, and that's a wrap!

Yes exactly, it's gonna be a Tom Ford Neroli Portofino in Marseille with a sprinkle of Dolce & Gabbana Capri Light Blue with David Gandy + Bianca Balti, so predictable

Yes. A lot of his stuff is originally about Geometry so I imagine a cube and a circle type of situation.

If the fragrance smells good, it will sell. He is a marketing genius so I don’t mind it for him.

The fragrance market is saturated anyway. It’s all a matter of brand image and reputation. And Jacquemus don’t have a competition in terms of brands.
There’s no other brand in that market of his that has went into fragrances. For the most part, it is either luxury brands, perfumers brands or successful reboots. I think about Courrèges who relaunched their perfumes with an exclusive line (those stunning bottles).

The competition in the fragrances world is mostly about brands because they all covers the same the categories: they all have gourmands, fresh, animalic…etc. Chanel’s only competition in the fragrance world is Dior for example.
