Simply Vera : Vera Wang for Kohl's

^ I actually didn't check online after that. I wanted to hold them and see them better, which was sort of difficult on the mannequins. Plus, I wanted to try them on and examine the fit.

^ I can understand that ;)

Do you know what size they put on their mannequins? If it's yours, it's a good way to get what you want in any store B)

I guess they're all suburban, but I went to the Kohl's by my dentist where I thought no one would be interested. The selection of sizes was still pretty good at that point I thought ...

I visited my local Kohl's today and found that a new shipment had been put out. I tried to take pictures of everything, but I know I missed a few items here and there. Also, I forgot to check the shoe department.

My pictures

Overall, I'm impressed but not tempted to buy anything just yet. Nothing truly caught my eye, though I'm known to change my opinion quickly when it comes to clothing!

^ I cannot believe no one yelled at you when you tried to take pictures! I always get caught. I guess I am not as stealth. ;)

I bought a dress there on Friday (without trying it on 1st because I was in a hurry). It is the tank dress with a bow around the waist. I guess the sizes run big because the 2 just hangs on me and make me look like a frumpy old lady. My biggest issue was the quality. The bow was fraying on almost all of the dresses, and I had to switch the one off the dress I bought for another one. The zipper on mine was flimsy and wouldn't even unzip when I tried to take it off the hanger. It was marked down 50% off from $88 to $44, but I am going to return it. It looked adorable on the hanger, but that is as far as the affection for it goes for me now. :(

^^I can't wait to see it all in person.

I've bought several things marked down quite a bit. I never feel like buying it full price. Here are some things I got...

1. Top & Skirt, both $20
2. Coat, $25 --originally $130

The coat really doesn't work so well with a belt, I was just playing around. I can't wait to have long leather gloves to wear it with.

This post is exactly why many people feel intimidated by stylish people. I live in the midwest and i have impecable style, and personally i think that Kohls is a nice store for girls and guys who can't afford nice clothes that so many of us more fortunate people are able to buy. I really think we need to act together to get the pretentious vibe out of fashion and make it all about looking great again. Anyways, most of the time people act like snobs because they are secretly insecure with their own personal image, expensive clothes won't fix ur self esteem, neither will bashing a store that is trying to bring the style of high end labels to people who can't afford them so we can become a more stylish nation, only you can fix that problem yourself.

I agree with what your saying, Casualuxury.
Nothing is wrong with Vogue's Wal-Mart issue.
I applaud a person who has the balls to walk into a
store like that or any thrift store and own a look.
that's true style...

Kohls is great for people who aren't as fortunate.
why are you all complaining?
They are giving style (or examples of) to people
who have none.
And helping these people appreciate OUR WORLD a bit more.
<some looks at kohls are a little frumpy and ridiculous.>
but I've been there and have found some significant pieces
that are just as gorgeous as the ones you see in the window displays
on 5th ave.

don't be close minded.
if you have style, Fashion can be found anywhere.

Very well said; (some of the) fashion elitism needs to be purged out of the fashion industry.

fashion elitism is ********. what you wear doesn't matter as much as HOW you wear it. i know a lot of my friends wear no-name designers head to toe and they look a lot more chic than most other "fashionistas" that spend way too much money and moreover, time on themselves. it's sad.

that aside, i love this collaboration. i think the clothes are great, and they look better on your body than any picture or description. i recommend everyone to see this collection for yourself. vera wang is amazing, and a smart business woman.

i wear my balenciaga riding shirt with my thrift store shoes

I'm actually surprised that a lot of people here like it. I work at Kohl's as a part-time job and so far none of my co-workers rave about Simply Vera. Everyone says the same thing about it being too cheap looking for it costing $60.00. No one likes the construction of the clothes, especially the dresses with the embellishments on them.

you look extremely lovely in both of those looks.

I went to Kohl's in anticipation of some of these pieces but they were way too corporate dressy looking for my lifestyle (I'm a stay at home mom). I think some of them would look great on working women or at least those who have dressier things to go to than I would be they looked difficult to dress down for a casual look IMO. Then again, maybe I didn't see any of the spring/summer stuff because everything was in dark colors.

On a side note, as someone with a very high/low style I want to echo some of the other comments. I am all for making fashion more accessible to the general public. Not all of us are in a position to spend $300 on a piece of clothing, even though I would if I could. That doesn't mean I know little about fashion. I may spend $1000 on a handbag but wear it with something from the thrift store or Target. My budget forces me to mix it up a little bit and these type of clothing lines makes it easier to do just that.

Plus, I too have seen too many rich young college girls wearing head to toe designer but not having any clue how to put together a bunch of garish, mismatched logos from LV, Coach, and Chanel all at the same time. Personally I think those with less tend to be more creative and talented at making a wardrobe work on a tight budget.

^ Thanks for the pix, seanutbutter :flower: I'll have to go take a look ... I wasn't that excited by what I saw in the ads. I'm guessing there's going to be interest in the short trench you posted ...

I can't agree with you more. If I see any more fake Chanel Cambon totes I might die.

I bought a beautiful, forest-green trenchcoat, on sale for slightly over $30 (compared with the original price of $128)--however, a button dropped off almost the minute I brought it home! It's gorgeous, as I've said, and perfectly mid-weight for the current weather... and it's an easy repair. But I'd have been furious if I'd paid full price.

I agree, some of the prices are a bit high for what it is, but I have been extremely pleased with all of the pieces I have purchased, especially the dresses. I dropped by my local Kohl's recently and found some of last fall's pieces hanging out on the sale rack. I ended up getting two dresses, two sweaters, a skirt and three tops for around 40 dollars! Has anyone seen the black and white floral coat/duster type thing that's been in all the ads? I'm really anxious to see it in person and was wondering what it was like.

^ I don't think I saw that piece today ... I was disappointed in what I saw. First off, the racks were a real mess. It was hard to find where SV started and left off as other things were mixed in on the same fixtures at the edges. I understand Kohl's is merchandised differently than where I normally shop, but it was frustrating, more so than last time. They have moved the accessories, or at least examples, by the clothes & that's an improvement. There was a bag I liked a bit, but $159 seemed a bit steep (I always pay more than that, but not at Kohl's). Unlike last time, my size (or what I thought was my size--that has changed, I now am a size up from last season--or perhaps I'm between sizes, nothing I tried on fit me properly) was hard to find. I found one sweater I liked, but I needed the next size up & they didn't have it, so I left empty-handed. Lots of beaded jewel decorations, none in my opinion successful. Most of the prints (and colors) I found quite ugly. What's gone wrong ...

it's really annoying that hardly any of the stuff in the commercials and ads is on the website!...
...
