Splash Down - What to Wear in the Rain!

Wool doesn't repell water, to the contrary it absorbes 40% of it's weight, the thing is that you can't tell, so it still seems dry.
When it's pouring water it's a matter of staying as dry as you can for me otherwise i'll just get sick with the cold.
But it's even more difficult to solve the warm weather heavy rain. You'd love to get a refresh, but if you're soaking wet you cannot go anywhere or you get cold when it's warm--- it's complicated.

I love umbrellas for the fact that I find them beautiful, but I almost always end up not using them because of practicality. Especially when it stops raining and you still have to walk around with it everywhere:rolleyes:

pulled out my old muji raincoat to wear the other day to a concert...
i didn't want to have to check my coat- hate waiting to get it afterwards...
and i didn't want to carry it or lose it, and the muji one comes with a little plastic 'envelope' with a loop which i looped onto my little bag strap for easy, convenient storage...
worked out great!
didn't lose the raincoat...
just the glasses......

...

yes nya is the name of that feline character. but it's also something quite general.

so cute...i guessed that...
i have been saying 'nya' to mr mochi ever since watching komaneko...
i didn't really know how to spell it though...
he actually comes when i call him that way - so maybe he secretly speaks some nihongo...
...
*i confess that i got some notebooks and folders with the nya character on them from the shop in one of the train stations...
also some little 1/2 socks with a nya face on the toes!!!...
what i really want is a phone case like that...
sadly it was sold out in all the places i checked...
:D

runner- those shoes are sooo great!
they remind me of something i've seen from cdg...
they are especially good in navy, imo...
i would wear those if i were a guy!
thanks for sharing!

i own kamik rain boots in a dark slate color. this is the design:
shoes_iaec1317301.jpg

I think they are just as well made as hunter, but i read that they are better for larger calves.

i also own this umbrella i absolutely love. it's from j crew.

i got it on discount:heart:

^^nice print on that umbrella...

i had forgotten about a little kids umbrella that i bought years ago...
it's clear (like those japanese umbrellas i like so much) with red and bright coloured trim...
and it's quite small and slightly domed---
so you can maneuver through crowds easily and you can see where you are going because it is mostly clear...

so- i was crossing the street and there was a young cop directing traffic...
he was watching me as i approached, so i thought he was just making sure that people were crossing safely, but as i walked up to and passed him he said, " that's a really nice umbrella"...

...

...
i think that was the last person i ever would have expected to notice my silly little umbrella...
it was quite sweet~!...

:D

I'm loving my raincoat from Rains that I got last year:

Though I have this on my wishlist too...:innocent:

I am also searching for a nice wooden handle umbrella. I had a beautiful one that I lost/forgot somewhere (sadly, I couldn't even remember where or how...). All the ones I've seen since are too heavy, though. The one I had was super light and slim, but still sturdy enough to weather most storms.

Oooh, going back a few pages in this thread, I LOVE those coats from Terra New York! Were you happy with yours, softgrey?
The boots are pretty cool too...

^i still have a sophia kokosalaki cape i never got around to wearing.

i want my next rain coat to be one of those roadmaster jackets from belstaff made from a waxed material. unfortunately these retail for 800$+...

^For real?! I can wear ballet flats in the rain now? :woot: I mean, I do that anyway, but it would be nice to not have to ruin my leather ballerinas...

yes those are the rainshoes (named cendrillon baby) repetto officially offers, although they cannot be like some heavy duty raingear, so maybe they are more of ballet flats that can be worn in the rain, as you say.
