Hana
* Something I love about Rauschenberg's work is how he puts so many little details into his paintings that you have to keep looking for and that you might only notice after looking at it a second or third time... I can see this same kind of collage-like quality in this picture of Hana. You really captured the abstractness of Rauschenberg's work here...bravo!

Jeisa
*This is a really good interpretation of your painting...I like how the whole mood of it feels light, airy and whimsical. You can only sense a feeling of friendship with Jeisa and Carol which mirrors the painting. I love all the colors too!

Natalia
* You can definitely sense the feeling of mystery and intriguing beauty in both the painting and the picture of Natalia. I really like how both the painting and the picture have pets in them and although Natalia's picture is more sexy and incredibly stunning, the similar elements between them both are very evident.

Natasha
* I can't see the pictures anymore :(

Freja
*This is really beautiful. I like that both the painting and the picture use the same color pallete and both are very dark and full of emotion. The theme of the painting is clearly seen the this picture and the lonliness is so evident, I wanna just give both Freja and the fisherwoman and big hug!

Lily
* Lovely work. Both are incredibly beautiful and elegant, as well as very sensual. Even though the painting is so full of color, the picture matches all it's qualities even though it's in black and white. Lily looks so beautiful here!

i hope you don't mind me reposting.. :flower:

^Thank you!

Natasha
* I love how you mirrored the dark atmosphere from the painting in your picture. While Natasha looks a lot more sexy than Whistler's Mother, the similiarities here are so clear...they both look like they're in deep thought. I love the somber and serious mood you conveyed here- nice job!

Why am I having so many problems with my pictures? It took me so long to edit the pictures perfectly to be the same size, etc. And now my files are gone....

Whistler's Mother vs. "McDean's Natasha"

This picture of Natasha Poly by Craig McDean is a modern reenactment of the famous portrait "Whistler's Mother"
by James Abbott McNeill Whister. The chair in the photo is propositioned perpendicularly
to Natasha so that she may sit on it in an unexpected way. While Whistler’s frail mother sat rigidly straight, grasping a handkerchief,
Natasha leans back and stretches her long legs out in front of her, touching her thighs provocatively.
Instead of a pitch-black dress, McDean focuses on Natasha’s legs in sexy, thigh-high stockings and the fashionable pumps on her feet.
However, both pictures capture a similar mood. The subjects wear a serious, almost bleak, look on their faces,
and the colours in the pictures are drab and somber to convey a sober mood.

You did this entry so quickly, and yet it turned out so wonderfully! As cutx said, there are lots of intricate details in both of these images, and that seems to really capture the feeling of the initial piece of art. Hana looks absolutely stunning and very elegant and she works perfectly with the energy of the photo :flower:

Jeisa Chiminazzo (kig)
When I see these two pictures as thumbnails the similarity is unbelievable—the only difference seems to be the color, one a little bit clearer and stronger than the other. Now when I enlarge the pics, the similarity is still there, but now there’s even a similar energy. The relationship between the two beings is completely different, but you did a really great job finding a pic that reflects the art!

Natalia V (RG)
Oooh, how oh so interesting. I have to say that while I think being a waist-up picture with a woman holding an animal is not enough similarity, I still think that there’s a similarity in the photos in the way you described it. Charisma!

Natasha Poly (ools)
This is veeerry cool. I agree that the two are very different, but the lighting, the mood, and the women seem to all have something in common. One is simply more modern than the other and a bit more seductive, the nostalgic, somewhat bitter energy is still there. Natasha looks fantastic as well!

Freja Beha (static)
:D I think that these choices are the best of the bunch. The mood of the two pictures is eerily similar despite the fact that freja is dressed up – she still conveys a look of complete isolation and aloneness. If you changed the medium and painted the girl in the same style of Homer’s painting, the only real difference would be the lightness of her clothes as the woman in Homer’s painting has a heaviness and weighty feel from the layers of clothing.

Lily D (p_l)
The most amazing thing about Leighton’s painting is the texture that he brings out in the painting of the fabric in the dress and the fabric draping the chair. So, technically, while the texture in the photo is of a different quality (the smoothness of the model’s skin and the texture of her hair and the texture of the print on the fabric in the picture) the similar mood is definitely captured in the two choices. In Leighton’s painting the model is sleeping and while this is not the case in the photo the model captures a feeling of a quiet mood so I think this is well done!

Guys this is gonna be soooooo hard!

Jeisa Chiminazzo (kate_is_goddess)
This is such a sweet picture..i love how both of the girls girls stand out, but never overpower eachother, which i think is a good way to represent the painting itself...Beautiful entry..makes me think of what being a best friend really means... WORKIN IT!!!:D

Natalia Vodianova (Royal-Galiano)
This picture is all about the eyes..even the pretty kitty cannot take away from the connection that Natalia makes with the camera here....Stunning picture and painting......WORKIN IT!!! ^_^

WHOA!!! this is great..i love the similarities...such a modern take on a classic painting...while the original is very symbolic and beautiful, the picture with natasha is more edgy and modern...i cannot get over how amazing this is...WORKIN IT!!!:woot:

I love what you did here....it was a bold move picking a black and white shot to represent such a colorful painting but you managed to make it work....you chose to concentrate on what the picture represents and the deeper meaning behind it..i think lily looks incredible here...this is a stunning entry...WORKIN IT!!! :flower:
