Tall women vs short women ...

Although I'm not huge ,at 5'9" I love my height. In Hawaii, there are so many short Asian girls and I stand out.I feel right in place when I visit Europe too.yay!!!

I'm 5'11 1/2 and I've always loved my height. :) I love being such an odball with lotsa things including height. Lucky that I happen to have the height, too!

There's no friggin' contest! All else being equal (proportions, the single most important factor) tall girls always win. Tall girls get to wear flats (and look great in them!), don't have to stand on tiptoe to kiss their bfs, garner way more attention walking into a room. Tall girls look more statuesque and commanding. Tall girls can afford to pack on 10 pounds and still look roughly the same, whereas with short girls you can spot every extra ounce she carries.

Ah, the list goes on and on...

I'm only 5'3" and even a mere 2 more inches would make a huge difference...esp. since I'm dating a tall man again (6'2") and the height (and size) differential is just TOO VAST.

That said, I don't want to be TOO tall. I think the tallest I'd want to be is 5'8". But since that will never happen...

I'm 5'10 and I like to be high. I'm always one of the highest in the group, if not the highest. And I was lucky; I'm not huge either: pretty slim.

I'm 5'9 and I like it.......It's a good size..not outstanding tall but not that small

I'm 5'2, but was expected to be at least 5'5. My mom is just over that and my dad is 5'10. My legs are longer in proportion to my torso though. Pants in older petite lines are too short for me, but pants at 29 1/2" for Banana Republic and 30" for J. Crew fit me fine. If I could do something about my height, I'd like to add another five inches. Two on my torso and three for my legs. I want to be considered "elegant" rather than "cute"! Short girls are always "cute" and it isn't funny when you're about to turn 27. It's also harder for "cute" women to get ahead in business.

I know how you feel! My mum is 5'5 (if not slightly more), my dad is 5'7/5'8 and my grandpa is a statuesque (amongst asians:lol: ) 5'10. I was predicted to be able to grow to around 5'6/5'7, yet I'm only 5'2 (and a half! the half is very important -_-). I don't know what happened there:lol: I definitely wish I was taller, about 5'9/5'10-ish as most asian girls aren't that tall so I would stand out:ninja: but damn, if mother nature wants me to be stumpy, I gotta be stumpy:lol:

I agree, and I hate it so much! Tall girls always win! Unfortuently, not everyone can end up at a beautiful 5'10"....

Hi! love this topic!

I'm somewhere between 5.9 and 5.10 and love it. When I was younger (well, much younger, about 10 years old) I felt insecure because I was always the tallest. Among my "old" friends are some girls who are about the same, my "New" friends from university are all (much) smaller but that's not a problem anymore.

I think both has its advantages and disadvantages. I can't say that guys prefer tall girls, not at all. of course some do, but when I'm out with my girl - friends the smallest usually get most attention. And I even sometimes felt as if some (very few!) smaller boys didn't like me from the very beginning, but maybe they had their reasons beside height. Sometimes I also heard other girls say how ugly tall girls were, in a way that I could hear it , but for me that was a complement, they were probably just jealous.

About clothes: It's ok for me but I think if I was taller, it would be harder to find someand luckily my feet are quite small, I have "only" 40. I waer often heels, they make my legs look really long.

I have to admit I prefer boys who are taller than me, usually only taller boys attract me(do you say that like that? ). Having a smaller boyfriend I think would be strange! But I really look up to girls who don't care for that!

I can't put in better words. I agree with everything you said there.

I'm 5'10

Pros
long legs
clothes look on me
can wear flats and my legs still look good
even if I gain weight I still look thin

Cons
3" heals look ridiculous on me
finding jeans long enough for my legs

That's me, justa bit taller (5'11)
some other negative aspects for me :
I rarely stand straight
my back often hurts
guys are sually shorter than me and usually don't like it

I know what you're talking about:cry: ! I often have headache beacause of my bad posture. But I have a special work out (kieser) and it helps when regularly done.

I'm kind of in the middle - 5"7/8..... it's pretty crap for a Chinese girl to be this height....when I go back to HK, finding trousers that fit properly is a pain. Also I can just about forget about dating Chinese guys coz apparently, my height freaks them out so I tend to wear flats when I'm over there.

But over here, it's all good....not too tall, not short..... I do agree that clothes tend to look better if you're taller. But I think there are somethings that petite people pull off a whole lot better as well.

It's a tough call....

Totally agree! Some looks definitaly fits small girls more. Sometimes I wish I was small and petite so I could pull off wearing tees as dresses all the time, which is a bit hard for me to do, because I'm so high and all the tees, even mens XL tees, isn't long enough to even cover my butt. I also have trouble to find pants which fits me. If they fit my hips and butt, they are way to short and so on.

And as someone here mentioned; almost every boy is shorter than me. Also I don't walk straight, because my height was a problem for me when I was younger. I wished so much that I was short.

One ting too was that when I was 12-14 years old, I had a pony. I loved this pony (147 cm) so much, but I was only getting taller and taller:cry: . I didn't wanted to sell him at all! Luckily I was very, very thin at that time, so I weighted very little, and I could still ride without the pony getting hurted.

And now I use to wear my guitars on my back, and being so high as I am, I have to be so careful when I walk into a bus, cafe, store or something. I crashed one of the guitars in the top of a door some days ago, which was very bad, 'cause it's already a bit broken.

I think tall is better- for clothes and initial presence (when you walk into a room etc) but at the end of the day it comes down to the face. :) (purely superficially/aesthetically speaking...of course)

I'm 5'6 and at this point, pretty satisfied with my height. However, I have these days when I think shorter/taller is better. At the end of the day though, height really doesn’t matter that much because personality and the rest of your physical feathers overshadow the importance of height altogether.

::5'7"::

My height is "average" but i feel really tall, considering most of my friends, family and acquantences i surround myself are asian (they are typically short). i love wearing heels, but sometimes i feel kind of awkward towering over them.

should i accept sticking out like a sore thumb in the crowd, or maybe get used to wearing cute flats??

5'7" is definitely not average, hehe! The American average womens height is 5'4" :p
