Tartan and Plaid F/W 06.07

tartan seems to enjoy a renaissance every few years...though the translation of it on the runways varies as to whether its good or not. absolutely adoring mcqueen's use of tartan...wonderful highland victorian perfection. everytime I see the pictures I just melt. not to keen on the balenciaga versions though. not romantic enough for me. ;)

not really needing an excuse to wear it, I've been rocking tartan forever and don't plan to let up any time soon. nae, a wee bonnie kilt tis me trademark. ^_^

I love plaid, but I don't usually find nice plaid pieces in shops.

I'm in love with the Balenciaga outfits:heart:

And McQueen tartans are adorable, I lve those tartan dresses.

I don't actually know how to properly wear plaid...It seems so hard.

I dont like plain, but maybe it'll grow on me.

whats the difference between plaid and tartan?

I have never been a fan of plaids, and I don't think it will change, but we'll see :D

Though, I do like the last Balenciaga outfit Yppe posted

plaid is just another word for tartan. ;) (but in scotland plaid means something else)

Martin Grant made a few pieces in plaid as well.

I love bright red tartan and fawn/green colours for plaid.
Very cute.

I like those martin grant items but that is actually houndstooth -- like plaid/tartan it is a "fall/winter" staple that will always come back in fashion

(I have heard that the proper word for the pattern is tartan and plaid means something else actually, possibly the type of fabric for kilts)

PS. The model's face on the left made me think she was a manniquin until I saw her knees. Weird makeup...

Gorgeous indeed..... Very very beautiful colors and fabric....

^ Not a fan of the Kenzo way of doing it.. So many clashing prints going on...

I am thinking of buying a medium blue & black plaid fabric and sew patches on my clothes (like jean pockets) to customise them....

There was a time in my life I abused plaid badly; I'm not proud, but I'm past admiting I had a problem... :p these days I simply find most plaids unappealing. But I haven't renounced them fully, it's just I don't feel tempted unless the design's executed with some breed of historical reverence (see: McQueen). If you've got a problamatic history though, it's entirely your decision whether you'd like to risk the chance of triggering a relapse

I am also REALLY considering a plaid autumn jacket... maybe in blue.. with black ....

:woot: Really like that red balenciaga coat on the first page
Is there something under that?! Like framework? How is he doing that... :o Love the shape of it!!

It does seem a bit hard to wear, especially if you're a guy...
Sometimes it looks like pajamas or lumberjack-like or too formal...
