Terry Richardson’s Work is Degrading to Women

Two sides to every story, i highly doubt the models couldn't of said No to him.. i dont think its fair to blame him and disregard his work, while treating the models as victims... its a two way street. That being said sometimes i like his work sometimes i dont, and recently i have been leaning more towards the "i dont like it" side.. like the Pirelli Calendar.

I like a lot of his work, even some of the sexual stuff. Just profoundly dislike him.

went through few pages of terrysdiary.com... he obviously has some ego issues... me and jared leto, me and carine, me and josh me and lily........ me me me me me..... like hes proving that he knows famous people and is cool with them..... whatever....
is it wrong that im more disturbed about how he treats animals than models? saw i pic of cat, i think he was trying to strangle her/him.... and the pirelli shots with that chicken and ana bb (my fav gal, btw)....
oh and there is some male nudity... weird guy.

Personally i believe that he is trying to make himself a celebrity of some sort. By putting himself in so many of his pictures that's the impression i get.I mean you dont see anyone like Mario Testino doing that..

no one does that.... im telling you, ego problems!!!! plus it should say jared and me, not me ME first!!!!!
the only people who put pics woth celebs on their blogs,etc are either teens who meet their fav band or ordinary people who meet world known celebs.... i dont see models tweeting with pics with terry

I mean seriously, what can you expect from a child when a mothers like that/is having pictures such as the above taken of herself.
Im not saying thats an excuse respectively justification in how he treats girls/woman I would just assume that this woman didnt really... well, rose him by moral standards we would call 'normal' ?!

I think an institution is a bit harsh. A pyschologist would be a good thing for him i think.

Obviously from his growing up and his mother ^^, he is bound to have issues.
I think maybe he tries to get his self worth from fame and such. He's can't draw the line between his behaviour/personal life and business/ professional side.

and rie is a nice and beautiful girl, but she could not have been serious with her accusation. after all her job as a model is to sell fashion using her sex appeal and to lure innocent girls and women to buy expensive goods. hello? the only reason she ever made big bucks and bleeped people she wanted is because she has a nice body and could throw a perverted gaze at the lens. and any girl who works in this business knows that and accepts it, else get an office job, no?

and about the non-model under-age girls who have come out, did they step into his studio thinking it was a knitting club, where they would be sipping tea and chat about girlie things? no! they knew what they were going into. and to consider terry anyone of any importance you need to have a least some knowledge of the fashion world and terry's world and want to be part of it.

leave the guy alone. klimt slept with most of his models. and many many great artists were/are also very very weird, so no point in bringing out personal issues. he has not forced anyone to do anything against their wish.

Yeah pretty weird family, hedonists. Models have to learn that you can easily live without his work.... He's a wannabe compared to epic artists like Testino.. A little boy, naive, not even talented imo as his work for VP, H&M couldn't be less interesting....

im the first to give someone a benefit of a doubt. i like to see both sides, but i cannot find another side of terry. he did few nice eds,advs and that is all. apart from that, he is creepy... maybe hes not for an institution, but he does need help. i even talked to a friend who finished psychology and we share that opinion.

He already has two or three, I think. He posted photos of them on his blog in the beginning.

IIRC he did have what could be called an "unconventional" upbringing - and that comes from the doings of both of his parents. However, I also read that his mother was in a car accident and she was brain damaged and when I have seen pictures of his mother, my first thought is did she fully recover? I mean a beer in one hand and flipping the bird with the other is one thing, but her willingness to be photographed without being, let's say, "styled" makes me wonder if there is a compos mentis issue.

I think that his background is "relevant" to how he is, but he is also totally aware of it and has made a choice to relish in the dysfunction rather than deal with it.

Just because someone is in that type of industry, doesnt mean they want people to cross the line.
So you believe that if people put themselves in a certain area then they get what they deserve?

The issue is that these models should not be put in the position where Terry is naked during a shoot. It's really, like, cool and awesome that you're so strong and liberated and sure of yourself that you would be able to halt a situation by saying NO, but it's not realistic to expect this from everyone. As a woman, you should be more sympathetic and minded towards this.

Well, you're right each to his own, but at some point, creativity and inventiveness shouldn't end in a coctail of misogynous perversity. You can tell what you want but seeing a girl that is like 30years younger on the bottom giving him head while being photographed IS misogynic. Terry lacks parents and real friends telling him what's too much...
