^ my dear! thank you! I'm so happy  Anna looks so beautiful! Do you have more pics with Polish models: for example: Anja Rubik (cos she's everywhere!) or Anna J?

karlr1 i merged your thread into the fashion photographer's lookbook, normally backstage pictures would belong into the models backstage thread in supporting cast but since you said you were trying to find a new and artistic way of depicting backstage situations i'd advise you to have a look at olivier roller's thread here, who i think has developed a very significant style:

moving...

very nice work cristina, i loved the photos of "the hotel" and the edition is very good, the colors, the light...
How did you do it? the light is so uniform. Looks like some Mert & Marcus work... congratulations!

sorry about my poor english, but i´d like to tell you that I also dream about working in paris, london or NY as photographer, starting working as assistant of an important photographer of course. But i have many problems because i live in Brazil (far) and here is dificult to buy equipament and also because i dont know everything in photoshop, but i think the most important for a photographer is his work and his story: something that diferenciate him. Like the sensuality of Testino, the surrealism of Mert & Marcus, the "happy american life" of Bruce Weber style...

some of my work you can see at www.phalmeida.cjb.net or www.photografos.com.br/phalmeida or attached on this message.

i started to shoot last year (so im shooting for 1 year).

Hello!

I don't want to confuse anybody, so I'll keep it short - I had problems with my (pantoufle) account so with the help of AndoraStar I have this new account (chiara_luna) working.
I'll stick with only this new one to avoid misunderstandings..

Thank you for all your replies!

It's really very interesting that you all like the fashion work more, because in germany they prefer my more natural shots. (see attached images)

@ong.nicholas: I remember CLANG's work, I like the light + the jumping photos a lot + the one sleeping on the tree + on the floor! Crazy ideas, I adore that...
Very nice mood in yangtan's work.
do you assist these two photographers?

I have graphic design background (worked in the area for about 6 years during university). About 1,5 years ago I realized that photography is what I trully want to do, it's my passion. I could let go everything, just not my picture-box :flower:

I learn everything myself. I shoot digital and photoshop the colors. I need my colors, I mostly like them cold/blue, I don't know why. maybe because that way the image is more irreal.

thank you for your nice words pamela!
and you're right, of course, fashion photography can only work where fashion is... here none there is ...

I will post more fashion work, I have lots of ideas...

Thank you for your encouragement

bye
cristina

Thank you.

I like your work too, very good.

About the light - I used an umbrella and just 1 light and usually positioned where naturally light would come from. (window for example or bedside lamp). I like that illusion.

@Karl, you pictures are very nice.
@ong.nicholas - no, I haven't assisted. I learned by trial-and-error.

Bye,
Cristina

melanie - i really like your cropping close on the face - they'd be perfect for beauty shots! i also really like the hair in the girl's face in the first one. great job! got any more?

for the past few weeks i've been working on a series called "giving up the ghost." i should have a few more images coming soon. these were taken with a diana camera. here is a link for more information:

http://www.huskudu.com/guide.html

these were all done in-camera...no digital manipulation.

melanie - yes, dianas are a much older version of holgas - i like my diana much better than any holga i've ever used...and it's purely a personal thing specific to the cameras...i just get better results with the diana.

i can't believe you used a holga for those 2 shots...they came out really well! did you just tape up the entire thing to avoid light leaks? it looks like you used a flash on a couple...does your holga have the flash on it?

i like the 2 polaroids too...i'm also an avid polaroid-user

sorry - i must have misunderstood what you meant here! ^

i thought those weren't done with holga. i look forward to seeing your holga shots!

francesca - I like your new work. I think I'm drawn to the more ghostly ones. I've always been fascinated with the "dead girl image" and some of those provoke that feeling. I especially like the fire escape/stairs one

Will you be pushing to a gallery?

pamela - thanks for the kind words...i always used to do double exposures by accident and then i decided to take control! i'm submitting this and other new work to magazines and a couple fashion photography competitions...i'm working on some other stuff for galleries.

i also got some older work published in Look magazine - i have taken them down from this thread, but some of the older members might remember it, and recognise it from our new 'visualising fashion' banners! ^_^
