Pardon if there is already a thread on this, but I'm interested to see if TFS model-members were discovered randomly, or sent in pictures/pursued being a model.

I was 16. Had nothing to do on a Friday night, went to an audition for the biggest Agency in the city with no expectations at all. Surprisingly they liked my face and chose to represent me. Since then I've done a handful of job and managed to earn some cash off modeling during my high school years.

I just walked down the subway while the owner of an agency spotted me and run after me asking if I don't want to become a model. then she gave me the agency's card with contact number and all details. at this time i didn't even think about modelling, all what mattered for me was school. after some time and checking the agency I made my first appointment with them and started working with them...

I was scouted like 4 times from age 13 till 15, but I taught it was a joke or smth all the time, because I didn't find myself beautifull at all! Just tall and lanky
And then at 15 my friend sent a picture for my countrys model look. I won. That's how it started, tho i haven't done anything big yet.

Kinda 'scouted' a few times, but the one I listened too was on oxford street I was 17... CLICHE I know but yes, right outside Topshop too! Too bad it was like two days before I was going away on holiday, lost the business card I was given... Two months later, found said card at the bottom of my Speedy, googled agency... Saw it was good, but they were a lot better, decided to send polaroids to a few 'better' agencies... NO RESPONSE, well some, like ''you're soo pretty but not what we're looking for, here's an AMA list... '' Soo... Ended up sending said polaroid pics to agency that scouted me, they asked me to come in... Went in, they paid for test shots to be done (paid them back with first check.. naturally) and blah blah, built book...

Then..

I used new book with new pictures, and sent to the agencies who rejected me... Most of them still said ''youre pretty but not the right look'' but a few said yes...

But.. They wanted new book / new pictures that represented their image, so basically cycle one AGAIN...

And one day, I started getting emails, for castings, shows etc... A few months later, paid all my 'tests shoot fees' back, and was able to smile at the fact that I could randomly make some pretty good extra pocket money.

Is it worth it?

No... For most people, it's horrible.. Too much rejection, body image issues and general misery... One day you could be working all the time, money, money AND the next nothing for months. My ex was seriously either loaded or broke.. its unstable.

But for me... To be honest, I can't help it, I'm only really alive (not a shy hermit) in front of a camera (which is probably something I should seek help for haha!)
