Hi guys, I need yout help ! I'm looking for a very specific thing Chanel said to John Fairchield in a WWD interview. It must be from the early 50s I guess. I read it in French eons ago but I can't find it back. If I remember correctly, she said she didn't understand why women trusted, and I quote, 'f*ggots' like Christian Dior and Cristobal Balenciaga to dress them. Laughed my *ss off when I read that but apparently it really hurt Balenciaga. Ramon Esparza, his business partner, translated to him what she had said since he couldn't understand English very well at that time. Hubert de Givenchy said he saw him cry after the interview came out and I think Cristobal sent back that beautiful Cassandre painting of Chanel she had given him amongst other things because of it. But he still attended her funeral after she died. I read that Ramon actually designed for Chanel before Lagerfeld came in ... So dramatic. Anyways, I'd love to find that exact quote back, if you guy could help me, I'd love it, thank you !
