I remember that I took a class where we had to read about The Birth of a Nation, and the way this author described it made it sound like the most thrilling movie ever. Then when we watched pieces of it it was just so... not what I was expecting. Don't even get me started on Intolerance!

I've been keeping a separate list of short films that I've seen this year to avoid "clutter." I kept a list for fun on another website last year and I included 7 minute long Looney Tunes cartoons for some reason, skewing my results drastically.
