The 4-5 piece French wardrobe #5

Eizhowa: I so love your color scheme! The combination of cognac with black and White is so pretty!

I have a problem with my shopping priorities next months.

On the side of the must-haves: I will need biker boots this fall, but I see there are plenty of good options out there this season so I probably don't need to hurry.

On the other hand we are invited to two weddings in September. September can be quite fresh already and I don't really have a long-sleeved dress for fall (or spring) temperatures. I wanted one for a long time so I thought I might get one now when I need it. BUT I haven't really seen the one. I saw two or three that I like but honestly my heart doesn't really feel the excitement that I want to feel.

Both weddings are from "not extremely close friends" so I don't have to dress extra pretty. Trousers or a skirt could be fine since weddings are not very formal over here. A long dress would be too much. So: What should I do? Buy a long-sleeved dress and wear it for both occassions? Try separates instead and maybe give a skirt a chance? Just wear my pants and a silk blouse and buy the biker boots or a clutch instead?

I would not buy a drss if I had not seen something I really wanted. Why not wear one of the dress you already own but with a cardigan or a jacket, to keep warm?

I agree with Betinapple. I you don't need or want to buy something for both weddings, you shouldn't, especially when you have something appropriate hanging in your closet. But if you need/want something particular, you should go for it independent of the weddings you're going to attend.

I agree, I think you should work with what you have unless you find something truly inspiring.

Just stopped by to mention that I went to a clothing exchange today ... it was mostly an excuse to get rid of some of those things in my back closet. I took about a dozen pieces, including a shirt, vest, sweater, shoes, suit, some skirts, blouses, etc. Oh, and a raincoat--vintage white polka dots on clear plastic that someone was really thrilled to get! (I find it too hot.) I got a pair of PJ bottoms (never worn), two Ts to sleep in, and a pair of khaki capris.

Also decided to demote my Alexander Wang T due to the pilling I mentioned ... it will be worn around the house/to sleep in now. Have also demoted some of my Ts I sleep in to the rag pile ;)

Still haven't gotten a call from the shoe repair place to say my shoes are ready ...

Barbaraa: How exciting for you! * fingers crossed *

I found another picture of the green bag, and the color is less attractive in this picture, I think. More blue, less olive green, less beautiful... I am worried that this shade of green will clash too much (for my taste) with my summer wardrobe. Or maybe...:shifty:
Thank you :flower: and I still like the green better... Of course ultimately it's up to you ;)

I am usually not good at those social mixers that takes place when starting at a new school but so far I am really enjoying it! Almost feels like life outside of the university does not exist.

@Barbaraa:
really hope you will get that job - you totally deserve it! Good idea about checking your work-wear. Is there any areas where it is lacking something?
Thank you as well, and that is so exciting! Hope university will treat you well ^_^ I kinda miss my student days...
One thing I kinda lack is short sleeved blouses - I like my blouses to have some sort of a sleeve and a lot of what can be found is sleeveless. On one hand one might say that summer is almot over... on the other hand, in here it is possible to wear short sleeves until late October, so I should work on that ;) I just tend to not go out a lot in the summer so I have little more than a couple of t-shirts.

I love weddings :D I usually have to buy a dress or try to put together some nice separates, as all weddings I attend are on the same side of the family  But I agree with what ta-ta said! If you find something you love, go for it, otherwise, and since they're not "big deal" weddings, try to work with what you have :)

Lately I haven't been busy with planning my wardrobe much. Yesterday I went into a few stores and I notices lots of black. I don't like black so it might be hard/interesting to find some nice things. I really loved the amounts of grey and navy that were available the last few rears.

For this fall I don't have much thing I need, just some wants. I'm thinking about investing in accessories: a new wallet, glasses, scarf and shoes. Already found a nice wallet from CdG and a great scarf from Acne.

And something else, the last few weeks tiny holes are appearing in some of my t-shirts. I already had to throw out 4 of them, some barely worn. I wonder if I have moths..

^Is that what those tiny holes are? I always assumed they got semi-shreaded in the dryer or something:shock: I did grow up in a very old house made of wood...

Acne does have some really great scarves:heart:

Btw, you've missed a lot of back and forth handbag-talk, FeworMany:D

I'm not sure if it's a moth invasion, but I can't think of any other explanation.

And what a shame, I have so much to say about handbags..

^ Yep, most of the time it is moths... Sometimes, of course, things can snag in driers and whatnot.

I never put my clothes in the dryer for exact that reason. I'm glad they have thing for t-shirts though, those aren't that hard to replace.

I really hope that I DON'T have moths! One of my jersey tops got some tiny holes as well. Hope it is just due to the poor quality and me putting it in the dryer.

Moths only eat wool, but there are other insects ... :o

With cotton Ts, typically the wear I see is at the neckline and sleeves, or maybe at a stress point like a pocket, or under the arms. Typically not in the body of the garment ...

My white Ts have been back from the cleaners, but I'd been wearing my new one ... inspected the results. One is very good, the other I demoted.

My tees always got tiny holes around the hip bone area. No idea why. I didn't tuck them into my jeans or anything.

I've decided to get the green bag, and not the black one. I've looked at my color scheme, and I think the green will work. I agree with you that the green color is more interesting.

I always thought moths ate all sorts of natural fibers?

That's a great decision eizhowa! Hopefully the colour will look lovely irl too ^_^

livescience

Moth larvae have a fairly specific diet, and so female moths typically pick clothes made from animal fibers such as silk, wool, cashmere, angora or fur, materials that contain keratin. Keratin is composed of fibrous structural proteins and can also be found in our skin and hair . Moth caterpillars will sometimes eat leather and feathers -- and yes, even lint and hairballs of human or pet hair.
Thankfully, moth larvae avoid eating synthetic and cotton fabrics unless they're blended with an animal fiber. That's because synthetic and cotton material doesn't contain keratin . So at least your spandex is safe.

Interesting ... but I have to say that I have never found a moth hole in silk, and I've seen hundreds in wool.

Agreed.

I just went through all the pages I missed when being 'back to school' in London (it was an incredible experience, just great :woot: ^_^).

Firstly I would like to say that I am really happy about this job situation, barbaraaa! Wish everything will go smoothly.

So London was great shopping-wise too. I managed to get this trench coat I was obsessing over and am really satisfied. I also got the exact same sweater I was looking for for years, the grey V-neck one, 100 % merino wool at GAP.
I also needed a replacement for a basic grey tee and I bought it at COS (with 3/4 sleeves and made of pima cotton, which I adore because of it's super softness), along with some jewellery (a ring for me and some earrings for my mum).
As I am going on vacation (finally!) in a week and needed a new swimsuit, I ordered it from Asos. You won't believe, but it's turquoise.
Will post the items in appropriate thread ...

^The trench looks amazing on you! I am so envious of how good it looks cinched in at the waist. I find that my hips look too big when I try to do that:doh: Works perfectly for you, though:flower:

Don't be silly, I'm sure that is just in your head. :D I have a ridiculous waist/hips ratio, 32 cm difference.

hmm... Maybe it is. Need to go try on a trench again, I think. I have a 32 cm difference too:)

Welcome back, Jinadaze! Thank you, and I'm glad London and the course were that great :)

I have about the same waist-hip ratio and I find it makes finding trousers harder than trenches or coats of any kind... I find it's my shoulders and breasts that make that one harder.

Ta-ta, maybe your wools are more to the moths' taste ;) My mum's silks get attacked from time to time, which is why I thought all natural fibers were food for them... Interesting to know that, though.

@Eizhowa: maybe the holes are there due to the fact that you bag has been rubbing against you tees? I once had a striped tee have black stains on the left side from my jeans. And only on the left side since it was where I kept my bag.

Congrats about making a decission regarding the bag! Have you ordered it?

@Jina:
Glad to hear that you enjoyed London. Will love to hear more about it. I need to see that swimsuit

_____________

I am really in a dilemma regarding the grey cardigan I am planning to buy for fall. I found the perfect one back in late July but decided to wait since I decided to not do any shopping in August. Now it is really low in stock. I can only find one danish webshop that has my size in stock. Other than that there is only a UK website - but it costs 1/3 more than in Denmark so ordering it there would be silly.

Really I should just go ahead and buy it, but I decided to not do any shopping untill 1st of September.

Seems stupid to miss the perfect item due to a silly rule, but at the same time I would like to stick it out and really I guess it is not the end of the world missing out on an item.

Help needed.
