Blue is (unfortunately) definitely not a good colour on me - I'm the yellow one now that you've laid off the apples
I have three pairs of cropped black trousers in similar cuts but with different details (buttons, zips, pleats) that I wear with a black blazer. I actually got the black blazer so that I could wear a jumper under it, as my other blazers were a bit too tight to wear over anything more than a shirt.
I usually wear black trousers + shirt + cardigan (either gray or dusty pink) + black blazer and my red zara overcoat, as it is oversized and can fit a blazer underneath. I just feel very black and very boring as I wear the same clothes every day, pretty much.
Yesterday I wore this purple wool/cashmere sweater I recently bought and it felt different and new (the colour likely helped), but underneath I had a plain white shirt and, since the office space is pretty hot, I took the sweater off and felt boring again. Even when I wear a printed shirt I often feel way too suited up.
I have a pair of dark gray wool trousers that need to be taken in at the waist (will take care of that later today) and another gray pair in viscose (too thin for right now).
I also have blazers in:
- navy (not sure if I could pull it off with an otherwise all-black look)
- dark red (I wear this one a lot with all-black looks)
- dark gray (this one is a tighter, shorter blazer - can't really layer).
I have ordered a plaid blazer in brown/red/black tones earlier today from the sale, as I think that a print can help spice things up.
I have also been wearing the same shoes every day for two months, since I bought them (these brogues). I love them, and the fact that it has been rainy hasn't allowed me to wear ballet flats; the fact I'm wearing trousers rather than jeans also doesn't let me wear my Hunters.
I like the idea of a "uniform" but it really isn't working for me...
I haven't been wearing sweaters for a while (except for on weekends), as most of those I own are pretty thick. I was thinking of losing the blazer and start wearing them again (which could mean more variety in outerwear, as I could wear a different coat), or start wearing jeans with a blazer. To be honest most of my superiors don't wear a suit, most of my co-workers have dropped theirs already and a lot of people wear jeans and even sneakers... We don't work with the public, all we do in that sense is phone people asking for data they haven't sent
I think I'm just too stuck on the "dress for the job you want" part and the fact that I haven't worn jeans a lot for the past year and a half.
And sorry everyone for the long post!
