The 4-5 piece French wardrobe #7

I have been putting off selling my Acne Canada scarf for AGES. I figured there would be no buyers, because "everyone" already has the scarf. I put the scarf up for sale today and it sold in less than 30 minutes:lol:

Best of luck, betina :flower: Did the customer service rep tell you they were going to charge you for the earrings in 30 days? If so, I would definitely report that to a supervisor. I mean, that would be fraud, right? If someone told you that, it appears to me to be, far from helping you, an empty threat of doing something illegal to frighten you. And that would not be cool at all.

Occasionally I run across someone at Nordstrom who 'doesn't get it,' and I always figure they won't be there long. I decided the other day to start asking someone else how long they've been there when this happens

I wore my dress tonight. When I walked out into the natural light, I could see that it actually is more emerald than teal--which is fine. I went by my favorite mall before dinner, hoping to match nail polish to the dress, but since it isn't actually teal, I wasn't successful. I did buy fresh life perfume (I got a Christmas gift set with soap and a candle--I wanted the candle).

The mall is where I first discovered that the dress is rather dramatic  I guess it is eye-catching ... I attracted a fair amount of attention that I wasn't really looking for  I used to have a sweeping orange cotton knit dress. It was more casual, but also quite dramatic, and I needed to be prepared for attention when I wore it. This dress seems to be similar, though the color is less extreme

But I really like it, I continue to think it's very well-designed and comfortable. And Melisande, there is something to what you say about a dress being compatible with eating a big dinner!

@Eizhowa: you are right - I just meant in regards of the shipping time  I cannot believe that you would think that about the scarf - I feel like everyone want one ATM

@Ta-ta: She said that if they didn't have the earrings in hand within 30 days they would charge me for my purchase again, since they were sending me the necklace again before recieving the returned item.

I think that the service has been suprisingly poor in this matter, especially since the item I recieved is way more expensive, than what I ordered, and since it belonged to a US customer I am not sure if they would have noticed the mistake hadn't I told them.

So I guess I am definetly going to talk to a manager (how do I get in touch with one?), but I want to see how they handle the situation entirely before doing so.

I am so glad you are liking your dress - it is so glamoruous and classy, and I bet it is a piece that you will love for years. So classic as well.

@Betina, I'm so sorry for the hassle and frustration :( Hope it all gets sorted out very soon and in a very satisfactory way! You deserve some kind of compensation for this annoyance and delay. When things go wrong it's a golden opportunity for companies to redeem themselves and win the loyalty of their clients; it doesn't sound like they're doing a good job for their own good...

@Ta-ta, it is a pleasure hearing all about your dress! There's just something about dresses  I'm sure you looked stunning in it! xo

fashionista-ta, that sounds so nice, I wish I would have been there to see you walking by in your gorgeous dress. :flower:

This seems completely counter-intuitive, and cannot be the correct legal practise in the US. I repeat - No way. Most customer service employees do not have legal degrees, and probably have a very liberal interpretations of the guidelines...

According to norwegian contract law (and I suspect also in US contract law...), Nordstrom are just going to have to suck it up (to use the correct legal term:wink:) because they made the mistake when packaging your items, and they choose the currier for your return. They made all the important decisions and have to live with it. They've made their bed...

I would email the customer services and ask about how to get in touch with a supervisor. That way you have it all in wrighting. It is also free to email. (Who knows how much you are being charged for calling the US customer services?)

It would be so great if there was a customer service to the customer service, so that you could complain about the terrible service. Somebody needs to start working on that. (I have so many of these brilliant ideas, you would not believe it:mrgreen:)

Ta-ta: How could you not have expected attention in that dress?:o Would have been a very special mal if everyone found it completely ordinary to see someone strutting about in a emerald silk Lanvin dress:P

 You are cracking me up  Yeah, I just really didn't think about it. When I wear one of my purple silk blouses, I get some compliments, but no one turns to look. That is something Melisande left off her list--a dress commands more attention

Agree that this 30-day business is pure BS. You should just be able to call and ask for a supervisor. Occasionally I have actually been told (not by Nordstrom!), "We don't have supervisors." Oh, right, of course you don't ... You could also e-mail and say that you would like a supervisor to contact you.

Thanks, betina, Melisande, and Nymphaea  I stopped in to the Aveda store to get the dates for double points, and the manager told me I looked phenomenal  The rest of my clothes have a lot to live up to now!

I think I'm going to try strapless underpinnings next time and see how that works. The neckline has a little bit of a halter thing going on ...

 Well yours certainly merits the turning of heads! Initially I had actually written that dresses attract more attention, but I erased it because I thought it's not necessarily true...casual dresses don't really, nor do sort of nondescript, dark colored dresses.

Yours is like an urban-goddess-dress.

@fashionista-ta: Your dress sounds fabulous, I'm so glad you're happy with it! And congrats on the new bag as well! ^_^

@Betinapple: I am sorry to hear about your troubles with Nordstrom, that sounds like such a hassle. :( I was really pleased with my order and based on that would not hesitate to order from them again, but now I am not so sure... I really hope they sort things out for you!

I need some advice. A pair of black patent Porsellis have become available, and they are within budget (but not cheap). I think I really like them (I think black patent lanvin ballerinas are very stylish), but I also really like the "dull" black leather ones. I am not sure if I should get them, and eventually have two pairs of black porsellis, or just let patent ones go. The black ones "pop" more when worn with black/grey jeans, but the plain black are more versatile... I think patent can look cheap, but plain black ballet flats can look inexpensive too. When buying black flats, I am paying for comfort, I think.

Ideally, I would have a pair plain black porsellis, and pantent lanvin flats, but that is not likely to become available untill 2016.

^How funny this is, because just a week ago I had ordered matte and patent black leather flats. The things I noticed were that the patent was thinner leather and because of this less supportive for my feet and because of that the fit of the matte one was more comfortable. I also ordered them in different sizes and it's obvious when the leather is different than the size you need can also differ. I liked both versions but I choose the matte version because of the fit and I can polish the matte version more easily.
Go with your guts! :flower:

^^ When you say 2016 availability, do you mean the Lanvin ballets? Or in 2016 you will feel like springing for them? Because I think they should have them now ...

I tried on a pair before, I think they were a cross with a Mary Jane style. Because the patent is stiffer, the elastic actually crinkled the skin on my feet, it was not a good look :( I assume this can't happen to everyone though, or they wouldn't still sell them ...

Well, I am totally feeling betina's pain, as today I got to call Nordstrom customer service myself. I got a bag today, but not the one I ordered. It was the mini cross-body with a shoulder bag label (and a significant difference in price as well, though they charged me for the bag I ordered). The good news is I get to see the leather, closure, chain, etc. I haven't seen this exact bag in person until now.

I also kind of understand the 30-day thing now, because they told me the same thing. So it's not that they would charge you for the earrings, it's they would charge you for the replacement necklace. I got switched over from the person who answered the phone to a designer specialist, and she asked if it was OK to charge me for the 2nd bag, which she ordered for me. Umm, no, that is not OK. So she said that if they don't receive the return within 30 days, she'll charge me for the replacement. I will send it back this week, so it should be fine.

I wanted to involve the store ... I asked if they could ship the replacement to the store & let me exchange in person. They don't want to do that though. So I told each person that they must check the replacement bag dimensions to ensure it is the correct bag & not just the correct tag. The first person told me she was way ahead of me  It looks like it may actually be Lanvin's fault--it looks like they probably tagged the bag wrong with their own description (medium Happy) and no one there or at Nordstrom caught it. Let's hope they got some of the shipment right ...

Now that I think about it, this is probably going to screw up my cash back deal, so I'm going to have to contact someone about that I guess ... I hope it's even possible to straighten that out ...

OMG! It's contagious! I'm happy I got my flu shot today. :P
But that aside, annoying stuff guys, hopefully it works out nicely.

@Ta-ta: they would charge me for the necklace again, but since they made a mistake, and I should pretty much have sent the earrings back the second I got them to be 100% sure they would get back in time, since it took them 19 days to get her, I don't think that is entirely fair. Especially since I recieved them friday, and I haven't been able to contact DHL before today.

Sorry that it happened to you as well. Seems like they need to up their game.

Now I just need to figure what to do since the invoice I am sending back with the item should state the right item, and the one I've gotten with the return labels state my necklace..

^ I was under the impression the 30 days started today (day of contact and second order being placed). That was what they told me ... if they haven't seen my return in 30 days, they will charge for replacement.

I would just write a brief note on there explaining the situation. Mine too shows what I should have gotten, not what I did get. Their notes in the system should have it all documented ...

Nymphaea, it is totally catching :P I didn't get a flu shot ... wonder if it would have helped  They said 3-6 days for the replacement, and it did cross my mind to ask for express  But I did not. I want them to take their time and send me the right thing this time!

In my case, though, like I said, I knew immediately something was wrong for sure as soon as I opened the box, but someone not familiar with the line wouldn't realize Lanvin had put the wrong tag on. Although ... I think all this stuff comes from a store ... and if that is the case, the people at the store should know something was wrong.

Its contagious? Maybe I should order the patent ones and hope they send me a matte pair by mistake?:innocent:

Thank you for your replies, Fashionista-ta and Nymphaea:flower:. I can't afford the Lanvin flats until I move into the EU in 2016 (at the earliest). I saw the pantent porsellis in London, but I did not try them on (I was too busy fawning over the ones on sale:innocent:). I am now worried the fit will be different. I know my suede porsellis are different from my normal ones, so who knows what the patent ones will be like? I think I will pass on the Porsellis this time.

The 30 day-rule ta-ta was given makes much more sense. J crew however just sent me the additional replacement without even talking about charging me twice...

I don't think their is anything wrong with the rule per se, and it would be no biggie if it had been a Danish (or even European shop), but it takes a lot longer for things to get to the US apparently

@eizhowa: I have a pair of black patent ballet flats from Bloch, and while I really like them they haven't gotten nearly as much wear as my regular leather ones. As someone else mentioned, I think the patent leather just isn't as comfortable to wear, and they also have a dressier look I think. If I had to choose between one or the other I would definitely go for regular leather ones.

An update on the heels I bought: they are sooo comfortable! The first time I wore them I had them on for more than ten hours straight with no problem at all. My feet didn't even hurt the next day! And I received tons of compliments on them, so I'd say they were definitely a success. ^_^
