I ordered this cashmere scarf today. :flower:

I think I mentioned it earlier in this thread, I've had it on my wishlist for some time (I already have the same one in light grey and I adore it), and today I found it marked down 50%. It will be a Christmas present to me from my uncle who likes us to pick out our own gifts. :P Actually, this will be a head start for spring!

I'm also considering putting this scarf on my Christmas wishlist:

I've been thinking about my purchases for this season, and I am really really happy with all of them. I've bought:
  • Acne Canada scarf in dark camel
  • FWSS navy dress
  • Sam Edelman black pumps
  • Black leather lace-up boots
In addition a pair of jeans, some white tank tops and a pair of sweatpants (this counts as basics, right? :P )

I had a black leather bag on my need-list too, but since I haven't found any that I am excited about, and I fixed the lining on one of my old ones, I'm putting it on hold for now.
I'm going to London next week, and while the main purpose of the trip is not shopping, I hope to find a little time for that too. Mainly to pick up some Christmas presents, and I don't really have anything specific that I want for myself, but I do plan to stop at J.Crew to try on some blazers and coats in petite sizes, just to see how the general fit is (I've been curious about this for a while, since we don't have petite sizes here). And Uniqlo can't be avoided I suppose... But makeup and beauty products are usually my vices when it comes to traveling and shopping... :innocent:

^ How nice to have someone who likes you to choose your own presents

I think it's a great idea to try on as many things as possible when you have the chance ... that way you know how things fit & can better order online. (Or, eliminate whole brands.) With petite sizing, there are a lot of differences ... the armholes are smaller, the length and rise will be shorter ...

Caramel, noticed that Yoox has some size 5.5 shoes ... pinned a pair for you on my recommendations board. Not sure coral is one of your colors, but they do have small shoe sizes.

WHERE did you find it half off?! I love those cashmere scarves!

I'm not really that short (5'3-5'4 or so), but the more I think about it the more I imagine petite sizes will work better for me. At least in theory. My fit problems with clothes are always the same: too wide in the shoulders and back, too long in the torso, and jackets sleeves and pant legs always have to be shortened at least 2". I usually wear a size 34/xs, but I imagine a size larger in petite would fit me better. We'll see if my theory is confirmed, or if I am just impossibly shaped!

Anyway, I was thinking J.Crew because I know they are easily available online, and I know they carry a lot of their models over many seasons. Banana Republic also has petite, I think? I don't think I've ever been there. If anyone knows other brands that have a good petite selection (in London), please let me know. :flower:

Thank you for the shoe suggestions! Coral is not really my colour, you are right, but I like the black ones that you pinned. :flower:
I just made a suggestions pinboard for myself, so if anyone else would like to be pinterest friends just let me know.

@eizhowa: I got the scarf here, but they only had the beige/sand colour and it looks like it's sold out now!

I am 5-5 and I still fit Petite clothing better... People forget that petite sizing has nothing to do with your overall height, but with your vertical proportions. It sounds like you would be a perfect fit for Petite tops/coats:smile:

I think J crew only carry Petite sizes online (and not in London), becuase the demand is not as great. However, last year, J crew had a free shipping + free returns + 30% off sales items (and they have a LOT of items on sale), just before christmas. That means no taxes, no duties and no shipping costs to Norway, and you can return everything that doesn't fit!:D The only limit is your bank account:wink: I am hoping they will do this again this year.

Thank you for the link, Caramel. It is just as well they are all sold out. I don't need more scarves at this point.

Edit: And btw, Caramel, 5-3/5-4 in Norway is dwarf territory:P

I know, I know. I think I sometimes feel taller than I am because I come from a family of midgets where I am the tallest of all the women!

I seem to remember J.Crew had a petite section the last time I was in London (february)? On the second floor? Or maybe that actually was Banana Republic and I am mixing the two...hmf.

I was thinking about a blazer from J.Crew a while ago, and I emailed customer service about garment measurements so I have a good idea about their sizing anyway. I'll definitely be looking out for that sale, thanks for the tip!

And oh, scarves. I have a scarf drawer in my wardrobe, and my rule is that as long as they can all fit in there it's ok. So far so good, though I have already started contemplating the black one too...:innocent:

Caramel I love the latte-coloured cashmere scarf <3
Jindaze I'm so sorry for the flood...I hope you were able to recuperate the leather items...

Re. my ballet flats, I just popped downstairs to the select shoe boutique next door and got them there because I was in a rush; they were made in France, leather, comfy, perfect fit and a reasonable price so it was really a no-brainer. NOT the way it works with heels or other clothing...:innocent:

What brand are they, Melisande?

When I was little my mother told me that dwarves were real, and I was dying to meet one! This led to some embarrassing (for my mother!) incidents where I excitedly inquired about the status of some rather short men. When I saw a real dwarf in Starbucks a few years ago, I couldn't help but think how thrilled my 4-year-old self would have been! However things are in Norway, though, Caramel would be pretty normal here.

Another dward (according to Eizhowas definition) is saying "hi" :D (I am short, my boyfriend's 16 year old brother, is 40 cm's taller than I am)

@Jina: I am so sorry to hear about the flooding. I am glad that both you and your family are okay. I am not sure what to do about the bags, I think I would ask a leather specialist.

@Ta-ta: I recieved it last friday, and it was shipped on october 27th, so it went a bit faster this time around  any news regarding your dustbag?

I have been wearing the necklace for a couple of days now, and I have gotten more used to the lenght, but I did want it short, just in the "gap" at the collar bone.

@Caramel: didn't you write of the plaid scarf? I like it, but I seem to recall that something about it bothered you.

I got the ACNE scarf a couple of days ago, and so far I am very happy with it. Works great with my down jacket.

So far I have been sticking to my plan of purchasing no more than 2 pieces each month. In September I got the Gestuz coatigan and the leather skirt, in October I bought the necklace (in case you did not notice ) and a plaid shirt (from H&M - I am surprisingly happy with it and wear it constantly). This month I have gotten the scarf, so far.

I tried on a skirt when I was in Copenhagen the other day, and I am contemplating wether to buy it or not. The cut is similar to the flowy isabel marant skirts, and it is in a grey, floral print.

I had "something floral" on my wishlist for AW14, but decided to not go there, since I seem to get tired of prints very fast, and thought I should stop buying printed items, but there is something about this skirt, that I really like, and I could see it worn with a lot of different items in my wardrobe (which is usually my problem with prints: too few ways of styling them). I think it could work, since I have gotten better at repeating outfits without getting bored with them (I have been wearing the same combination of the leather skirt, the coatigan, a stripe sweater, black ancle booties and my mulberry bayswater constantly for the past month and a half), and more bold in terms of mixing prints. The skirt looked great with my stripe sweater e.g. and I think it could work with my plaid shirt as well. I am still debating this with myself though.

Other than that, I do not have anything on my list. I have put the idea of buying a black wool coat on hold, since I have the coatigan, my black Noa Noa jacket, the blue downcoat and my parkacoat (and the print downcoat if I end up not selling it), and that should be enough outerwear for now.

^ Faster is good  The dustbag just arrived yesterday--yay!

A few seasons back I really liked a grey I think floral Marc Jacobs print. I probably pinned it somewhere. I liked that it was grey, it looked more versatile, and just somehow better ... so I feel like this could work better than other prints. Plus it is totally your 'colors'

Happy both of you got what you wanted in the end! :flower:

Today I wore my Acne long vest with jeans and my new ballet flats, I really love the vest, it's casual chic.

^Which vest? I forget...

I am craving a black leather jacket... I never considered it before, but I think it is easier to find a nice leather jacket in my price range than a blazer in wool. I don't know what kind of leather jacket I would want, and I am still weighing the pros and cons.

Pro:
- Easier to find (but not easy)
- Cheaper (which it shouldn't be, but thats another issue..)
- Leather jackets keep their shape longer (imo)
- Will also work with black bottoms, because the texture is different.
- Really feeling a 60/70s vibe at the moment...

Cons:
- Too hot for summer (? Really depends on whether how things pan out with global warming and such...)
- Maybe it will be too much leather when worn with my leather bags? Maybe I like leather on leather?

Global warming is here ... but it does cause temperature extremes.

Have you looked at blazers on Yoox?

^Yes, and I found nothing:( I need a high wool%, size IT 38, a split in the back, and the proportions need to be just right... The wool blazers I have found have cost 2x what a decent leather jacket would set me back.

I will make a pic of that outfit and will post it.

Zara premium has some leather jackets online.
