The 4-5 piece French wardrobe #8

Caramel: Thank you:flower: In my experience, everyone packs way too much stuff when going on Holiday. You probably only need a very few items that can be mixed and matched:smile: Do you have any friends who can borrow you something for a week (I am assuming easter)? If you borrow a dress or a skirt you should be fine:flower:

I agree, most of the time I use only 50% of the clothes in my suitcase. Only buy what you really like. Relax and solutions will come to you, don't push it. :flower:

You guys are so right about personal style, of course:wink: The numerous lists of "10 items every woman must own" really annoys me. I do enjoy seeing what other peoples personal top 10 items/categories are though.

I wore my jacket today. My longtime bestfriend didn't notice it was new until I pointed it out:rolleyes: She was sure I'd worn it for years... I guess it was a very "me" item:lol:

Ta-ta, it is definitly a yoox success story:D

I totally agree. They always include a white shirt in the 10 items lists and so far in my life I have never really needed or wanted a white shirt.

Caramel depending on what you want for your holiday all the Australian shops still have summer clothes and they are on sale. Nearly every Australian store has an online store and ship internationally.

Thanks for the feedback guys! :flower:

Fashionista-ta, that's probably what I'll end up doing, but it does stress me out to feel so unprepared! The good thing is I should have a chance of making some nice addition to my summer wardrobe in a place like Florida, I suppose.

Eizhowa & Nymphaea, that's very true. Thinking back to my last warm weather holiday, even though I only brought a carry-on there were still some pieces I didn't need. One versatile skirt and a dress should get me a long way.
Eizhowa, I don't think I have any friends who are my size, they are all so tall! I am always the odd one out who can't borrow clothes and shoes, and vice versa. But I guess I'll keep my eyes open for a piece or two for the next couple of weeks, and if that fails I'll plan some shopping for my first day away.

Misstarsunshine, thanks for the tip! With shipping times I might be cutting it a little close, but I'll have a look around. Do you have any sites to recommend?

^I feel your pain, Caramel! I have no idea what I would do if it was me :P

I think getting your hands on at least one good, versatile and weather apropriate dress (buying or borrowing) might be good - as well as packing a versatile skirt (don't you have a black flared skirt) and shirts/blouses in light materials - I know you love to wear white tops

_______________

I've just booked a 4-day trip to London with my boyfriend in the beginning of June. Any recommandations would be very much appreciated

Nymphaea: The insoles in my french sole losened at the toe. Just wanted to mention it... It never happened with my porsellis...

Thanks eizhowa for mentioning the flaw, not so well done at french sole. I like a high quality standard.

So.. I didn't manage to stay away from shopping for 3½ months as planned, but I did manage to go for two months without buying anything - I can't remember the last time I did that, which is a little bit scary, actually.

Even though I didn't went for the entire period without buying anything, I feel like it has helped me get rid of some bad shopping-habits I have been dealing with since last years, and I have become more patient and reflective in regards of wether I really need an item or not. Also it has helped me revise my wishlist, that now looks something like this:

- Missoni(like) headband. Not sure wether I should splurge and get the real deal or buy a cheaper alternative. I feel like it is a lot of money for something as simple as a headband, but at the same time, it could be one of those things that I wear constantly. Also I am not sure wether to get a black/white version or something with a bit of colours. Opionions would be very much appreciated
- White crochet top/blouse. Preferably one from an old H&M concious collection, if I can get my hands on it.
- Lala Berlin tote bag/shopping bag. I would like a smaller shopping bag than my gray one, that I will be able to carry in my Michael Kors bag, since I often feel the need for more bag space as the day passes. On the one hand I feel like it is stupid to pay money for a logo bag, but on the other hand I like the print.

Also, I am considering getting:
- A new pair of jeans. Something semiloose fit and in a light, but not too "worn" wash. Perhaps a girlfriend jeans kinda fit, but I can't find any that I like.

I also had a floral dress on my wishlist, but I got my hands on one last week (the one that corrupted the concept of no shopping) and today a bought a pair of boots. It is the kind of shoes that just makes my entire wardrobe feel brand new - I hope they will be as comfortable during the day, as they feel, when I am walking around in them, at home.

It could last forever... It is not like your head is going to be too big in 10 years time. (I hope.)

Well, with all of the knowledge I am obtaining on a daily basis ....

But you are right - and I have seen a pretty nice black/white version, that is actually available.

I like all of your items, betina! I like the graphic print on the bag too. And I would go for the real thing

^thx, Ta-ta

Glad that you see the beauty in the bag as well - makes me feel less foolish  ^and I am sure you would!

I know that I am silly since I know that accesories are what I get the most wear of pr. piece, and that they are the items thay stays with me the longest, and I happily pay the same price for a scarf or a pair of earrings, but I've gotten somewhat stingy lately.

^^ Definitely get the real thing if you can, you'll appreciate it so much more. I love that white top (surprise!) and the tote bag too, so I say go for all of it!

I went through my two boxes of out of season/out of rotation clothes and did actually find a flared navy skirt that I think could work for my vacation. The waistband and zipper needs to be fixed and I never got around to it so I guess that's why it put it away. I also came across this image which gave me a new idea for how to wear flared skirts that looks a little more relaxed, with the t-shirt tied at the waist instead of tucked in. Very simple, but I never thought about it before.

Meanwhile, I recently had another person tell me that I always look so pretty and princess-y. Sigh. I probably ought to start embracing it since I obviously will never be edgy or cool!

Nice items Betinapple! Especially the boots and love the bag, classic chic in a Chanel way. You're lucky you found the same dress again. :cool2: I would like a flat version of your boots so I can tuck in the legs. Just choose the nicest headband regardless of the brand.

That sounds really nice Caramel, pretty and princess-y, lovely comment. Great you've found things you already have.

No chance you know who makes the tee and the ballet flats in the picture? They outfit is really cute.

I wonder what type I'd be considered... I certainly have not gotten any princess comments that for sure!

^ Sorry, i have no idea about the tee or the flats...the tee looks like a basic men's v-neck to me...I might have to steal one from my bf to recreate the look.

I suppose there are worse things to be called than princess-y, but I have to admit the good-girl stamp can get a little old. I'd much rather be called...interesting.

You mean like, "So you are wearing a shoe lace as a necklace, thats.... interesting." :innocent::lol:

I have been looking for a tee with a large v-neck like that for a long time. I guess it wouldn't hurt to look in the mens section:smile:

Mimi T is incredibly stylish btw. (I googled!)

Perhaps *that's* what I should try!

I'd like to steal that Mimi's wardrobe, and her house too...I mean chateau.. Basically everything except her seven kids and billion dogs. I could probably get away with it too, since I am so *nice* looking. :innocent:

@Caramel: great that you vacation wardrobe seem to work out for you! I feel your pain - I am not edgy or cool either  I love the white top as well, but I cannot seem to find it anywhere.

@Nympaea: Thank you :flower: Great advice on the headband-situation. I have found a black/white version from Missoni that I really like, so I think I'll be getting that - that way I can wear it with anything. And I can not believe my luck with that dress either  I will let you know if I see any flat boots like that.

I have so many items that I want right now, and ATM I have no patience or luck with making priorities. Sigh.

Also, I have seen the most beautiful Iró jacket, the kind that would be perfecy with just anything in my wardrobe. I am just not sure that I feel like spending that kind of money on 1 item right now.

This pretty much solves the problem of looking for a pair of monochrome sneakers.

Now the next problem will be choosing which color...
