Hahaha eizhowa you are so funny! Monkeys are smart, so applause for you! Oh your lucky-charm snake ring sounds so pretty, like talisman. You must have many good memories wearing that one if you consider it your good luck charm. Any pic of that one?

Ta-ta, the ring is so unique! Look fwd to see the lion ring.

Fewoemany: ohhhh rabbit! So sensual!

Adorefaith: that is very disappointing to have expensive item pills quickly. What is the brand, if I may know?

OMG, it looks like I started a to-do over andré.com...indeed as barbaraa says it was andré.fr ... Russian visas  ... Sorryyyy!!!

Bienvenue Clarissea, and congrats on the little one :flower:

Yes, I later found out the shoes turned out to be on sale now, which was extra lucky for me, so if they have them in your size. They "exist" as we say here in navy suede too. I have other boots from them, they're not expensive but so far no problems with quality or comfort. I've already been walking all over Paris in these booties.

Re.Suede and nubuck: I wear mostly black suede and nubuck for fall/winter---I have 8 pairs right now, including dressy heels and casual boots. For some reason I usually cannot get attracted to regular leather, except for occasional patent leather (and in the case of a pair of my exquisite Charles Jourdains with grosgrain ribbons) I've never ever had a problem with suede getting wet...I do treat them with spray maybe once or twice in their lifetime...if they've gotten a bit faded you can re-stain them easily...plus they don't get scuffed or scratched at all like with other leathers, which is a big plus! I've had white nubuck shoes in the past which did get a little dirty as you can imagine, but a terra-cotta pair stayed looking beautiful through the patina.

Floodette and Ta-ta: GORGEOUS rings!!!! :crush: I'm so jealous...I love gold jewelry but alas I've come to terms that it does not suit me...I have a bunch I never touch, and end up wearing only silver ... or gold but with pearls that take center-stage.

^ I am the opposite ... I've had silver and white gold jewelry in the past (and dug out some old things last night while looking for a pearl and ruby? ring that never looked good worn alone, that I'm wearing layered today), but really only gold and rose gold look good on me. I also have the latest earrings I got that are oxidized silver with yellow gold.

I have concluded that only a lack of funds stands between me and a truly amazing collection of antique rings! I have found a rose gold buckle ring with engraving, and a ring that was probably made from a fraternity pin with enamel, seed pearls, acorns, and other mysterious symbols, that I really like--and are affordable. So far no snake that I like & consider affordable. My antique rings tend to be Victorian ... there does seem to be a premium on Georgian--which I frankly can't get excited about paying.

Did someone say rings? Bring on the debate! :woot:

Melisande, I really like your shoes too! :flower: I only have two heeled booties combined with suede, but the heel is too much for everyday wear, at least for me. I would gladly wear some flat suede ankle boots and am actually looking for suede sandals with block heels for my wedding. They look much more elegant and comfortable than regular leather! Patent is nice too, but really sturdy and it takes months to break in the shoes. I already found some really nice ones on Yoox, but they were sold out before I thought about actually ordering them. The block heel footwear selection is quite good recently though. I realised I won't be able to stand in narrow heels, let alone walk on the grass etc. and dance.

Clarissea, welcome to the thread and congrats on the baby! ^_^

hello all. am quite crazy bout vinyasa scarf from lululemon. I got one for ages, but just really used it several days ago for travel. It was very comfy, and the snaps makes it able to perform as rectangular scarf or an infinity scarf. Found a tutorial on internet and it can also be used as cardigan wannabe! so funny!

Thank you! I agree I think suede is more elegant than regular leather, something about the deep saturation of the colour. So true that wedding heels must be comfy. Make sure your wedding is not the first time you wear them too; have you though of wedges?

Ooooh if you want amazingly comfortable suede block-heeled sandals my Sonia Rykiels are my most comfy heels ever...I couldn't find the same ones online but they have a bit of a platform in front and an ankle strap and are quite high but super-sturdy, you can search around her shoes for similar styles.

My sister wore Chie Mihara shoes for her wedding. Those are beautiful and unique and always comfortable. They presently have suede sandals with block heels; she even has a wedding collection with red suede shoes and sandals! (as well as white but hey). http://www.chiemihara.com/colecciones.html

Robert Clergerie are well-made and comfy too, and you can always count on them to do block heels and wedges in suede.

Welcome :flower: and congrats on being a new mom.

I don't think you need to buy very expensive clothes to get a decent quality. But you need to take the time to look at materials, learn what lasts and what doesn't and maybe use the sales and thrift shopping as a supplement. I don't know if they are available in your area, but COS and &OtherStories has knitwear for example, that looks good (and COS are good for t-shirts, that I know). I also have a woolen cardigan from H&M that I am very happy with so far (I got it in January). It was definetly expensive for being an H&M piece, but it is a wool/mohair blend, and in that perspective, the price was reasonable.

And like you say - buying better and taking care of your things will pay of in the long run. I used to have the same problem as you - although I wanted to be able to buy "better" items, but didn't feel like I could afford them. Then I realized that I had spent 500 USD in H&M during a year - the price of the Mulberry bag that I wanted. That was really an eye opener.

That being said - I don't neccesarily spend a lot of money on my clothes. A lot of my items are from thrift shops and cost less than a regular Copenhagen cup of coffee - but doing so does take patience

Betinapple how are you? I remember you when I first came here. Thank you for your kind words. Will try to wear more color, as ppl said it looks good on me. Oh courage.... courage....

You are welcome :flower: thank you for asking about me. I am still somewhat busy - and that really means that I really do not feel like spending time on going to stores, browsing webshops etc. I went by my favouite thrift shop the other day though, hoping to find some good knitwear. No luck though. I found a flannel dress and nude wrap cardigan, but I wasn't 100% satisfied with them so I ended up not buying anything. I am still thinking about that cardigan though. I wanted a wrap cardigan for some time now, but this one was not adjustable, and it was a bit loose. Also it was a silkblend and although it was nice and soft, I need woolen sweaters more. So even though both items were super cheap, I think it is better to save my money for something I really am excited about.

I am going to Jutland Friday though, and will see if the thrift stores there have anything interesting to offer.

Regarding colour, I am not sure if I am the right person to give you advice on that :ninja: my wardrobe is still very black, white and grey. That being said, I've become really happy with my light blue turtleneck (I think it is mostly because it is so nice, soft and warm though..)

I really like the snake ring, and I also think the earrings you posted are absolutely gorgeous! I would love to see som real life pictures, if you end up getting them.

_______________

I am still really enjoying my wardrobe and not really feeling like shopping. I did need a few extra pieces now that it is getting colder, so I found a wool dress, an extra sweater and an old woolen, pinstripe paperbag waist skirt in the attic. It has been a while since I wore these, but I think they will really be a nice addition. The dress used to be one of my favourites - the same goes for the sweater, and the skirt is just such a great classic piece.

Melisande, thank you for you suggestions! :flower: Actually I am looking for something more affordable (up to 100 €), because I don't wear heals otherwise and don't want to spend money on designer shoes for just a day. Also the attire will be a custom made designer dress and top and therefore a bit overbudget by itself. It will also be tea-length, so I think the wedges would look a little too bulky with it.

This is the style I am looking for and the heel shouldn't be higher than 9 cm (and even then I will be 190 cm tall :ninja: which is still a couple of cm less then my fiancé, but still).
This particular pair is made of synthetic suede (textile) and I actually don't see that as problematic, apart from the sole ... I would want it to be made of leather. What do you think, would a cobbler be able to replace it?

Betina, can you tie the ends of the wrap sweater that doesn't adjust? Not sure how long it is ...

Pretty sure I'm getting the ring that's on my wishlist board. The side view is also very nice--it's not flat (I forget the word for this). (Not a snake! I am picky, perhaps especially about the snakes ... luckily here I am surrounded by fellow picky people )

What's to debate? Rings, gimme rings! :buzz:

^ Is it a secret board? Because I don't see it ... :(
Otherwise the main ring shapes are court, D-shape and flat. And the fit is often comfort, not flat. :flower:

^ The term I was looking for is 'articulated gallery.' It is a secret board, and you have access, my dear

@Ta-ta: it is sort of a wrap sweater with the wrap effect sown onto the sweater, so no possibility to tie it closer. Otherwise it wouldn't have been an issue. Such a shame, the colour was perfect and the material was really soft.

@Jina: Nice shoes! I haven't heard of changing insoles before, but I am thinking it might be more difficult to do it with a sandal than with a closed shoe? Btw, I haven't forgotten you, will get back to you in just a sec :flower:

I love those shoes!!:heart: They are actually extremely similar to my Sonia Rykiel's, except mine has a little platform for extra comfort plus an origami-style suede bow in front. The ankle-straps and block heels are very good for comfort. I've not heard of replacing insoles (did you mean insoles?) but you can buy a whole range of insoles to lay inside, some with cushioning for extra comfort too...maybe you can put some adhesive...

Otherwise the main ring shapes are court, D-shape and flat. And the fit is often comfort, not flat. :flower:

I have no idea what any of this means
Clearly I need to educate myself :D

**eizhowa and others: By the way I realized that I had previously misrepresented Uniqlo cashmere in this thread, in my recent sorting process I found I did indeed have a 100% cashmere sweater from them that has lasted me more than three or four years with no pilling, yay! :flower: (It was the cashmere blend that was horrible.) I should go back and check the selection out again.

oh shoot, my left heels from the wedge that I repaired was off now (it was ok but also changed to make the heels even with the new one on right)

The warranty is still on, but am thinking to just go back to my old place....

Betinapple, I do hVe the snake ring, will take pic for you this weekend

I don't know about replacing a sole with leather, Jinadaze ... seems like it would be better to buy them that way? If you really want to do it, though, I would consult directly with the cobbler ... though I did have one recently tell me one thing on the phone, and something completely different in person

I need to know more about your dress!!

My new ring is on my In my closet Pinterest board now ... and I have another amethyst/diamond/enamel one on layaway that will be my Christmas present. (You may recall that we have a thing where my sister and I buy our own presents and wrap them, which all started when her requests were so boring I just couldn't stand it! Now I get great presents ).

i had a few from Aritzia (i think it's wilfred?) that didn't hold up well at all, and to me they are not cheap...

wool/cashmere blend from banana republic pilled terribly... as well as 100% cashmere from lord & taylor...

maybe i'm doing something wrong
