The 4-5 piece French wardrobe #9

^ If you have trouble with the cuffed shorts, maybe you can find some black pants (maybe consignment?) and make them yourself ...

I kind of got my fill of the secondary market with my TheRealReal purchases. When I took the permanently stained dress to the cleaners and they told me it couldn't be fixed, I promised myself I would never have that conversation again  Not about someone else's mess ... I have enough problems without buying more

Designer dress prices in general make me hyperventilate, and not in a good way  I really can't justify paying full price, given the small percentage of my life when it's appropriate to wear one, but I'm there for a bargain ...

And speaking of bargains, there are some Lanvin shoe bargains on Yoox right now. And some other nice things too at good prices, just not in my size.

barbara, tell us more about your Yoox skirts ...

^For the shorts, I am considering just hemming some regular shorts. I am so short that I need my shorts extra short. That scentence made me dizzy... I have done this before and was very happy with the result:smile:

@Eizhowa: Nice items! I am thinking that there will probably be a shorts style outthere that you can hem yourself. There gotta be some advantages to being a short girl

@Ta-ta: I actually noticed some Lanvin shoes when browsing through yoox the other day. The price was a lot more reasonable than I thought it would be.

I recieved my boots yesterday, but it was too dark to try them on with outfits. The fit seemed good though.

Also I looked a bit further regarding the skirt, and found one in velvet. That might be a possibility as well.

@The Moon and Ta-ta: so true! I haven't had a nothing-to-wear day in years, this is a very good sign. It's choosing pieces well and making sure the other items go with them. Which is what this thread discusses. (I do have slightly bored days but that is better than nothing-to-wear days).
@Betina: hope your boots are good!
@Eizhowa: "I like short shorts, Flying Purple People Eater!"

Betinapple: thanks a lot! Yes, I like Chanel's texture. And Coquelicot is poppy, right? Hopefully they import that color to my country, so I can wear it with my future tattoo (of poppy flower!)

Eizhowa, you are amazing! You really have the collection already in your head! And I like the color. Am also planning to make my wardrobe more black and white.

Oh, it's not in my wishlist, but I got this for 50% + 10% off. The color is lilac, but turns pink in picture. This is Carla with 7 cm heels. The other Carla that I have (suede black) is so comfy, but I am just afraid to wear it during rainy season.

Tata, show us what you have in mind, Lanvin wise please. am really liking my Happy bag, and kinda sad I didnt 'find' Alber before!

I agree with floodette, great mini collection eizhowa!

Those SF's are gorgeous floodette, I have the ones in black patent with the peep toes, so timeless.

I've asked Gucci if they do made to measure blazers/jackets like the mens but sadly no. Does anyone know who does maybe?

@Floodette: I do believe it is the colour you are looking for! I am wearing mine right now :flower: I think it is from last year's Summer collection, so maybe you need to turn to ebay? The shoes are gorgeous - such a lovely colour!

@Nymphaea: I do not know anyone who does made to measure, but I tried on a Burberry blazer in London last year and the fit was superb. Maybe worth a shot?

I've been trying on my boots today with various outfits. The quality seems really nice, the fit is perfect and they are actually really comfortable. I am not 100% convinced they are my style though. They look really great with pants and with tight dresses, but I feel like I look a bit too "compact" when combining them with wider skirts - mostly because I am on the short side and they are more thigh high than over knee on me  They are really nice though.

Floodette: I love the Carla shoes! I really want some Vara low pumps. And thank you for the comment on my wishlist. I am planning on cultivating a tan to go with the outfit though:cool: I haven't tried to get a tan in 10 years so it will be interesting to see if I still can:lol:

Melisande: That reference (I am assuming) is completely beyond me, sorry:doh: But I am guessing it is a positive thing. Let me know if I should be offended:wink:

Nymphaea: Thank you!

I would never have guessed that Gucci would refuse to tailor a suit just because it is not a mens suit. Is tailoring of womens blazers that much harder? That makes zero sense. What if you are a man and want a feminine cut, would they refuse to tailor the suit? Would there be a difference? * annoyed at world *

^ I believe she means made from scratch to your measure. I was just reading a magazine article about someone offering that for women, but I don't remember who  Have you Googled?

I like that color, floodette. I have a Lanvin wishlist board on Pinterest ... do you have an account?

^But surely making a black blazer for a man vs a woman is not that big a difference? It is not like all men look exactly the same, so using different measurements shouldn't be that hard.

^So for flat chested girls, what is the excuse then? (and some men could do with a bra)

Wow! Such an interesting thread!
I don't understand everything till now but i'll get it, sure!

@Nymphaea
Gucci makes me crazy, i can't buy the jackets there, i like few but too expensive for me but the shoes , belts and bags are awesome. I want buy one bag for sping-summer time , hope it will be still available.

Yoox started to be more expensive as net-a-porter. Exactly what i worried about when i readed first time that net-a-porter will be a part of Yoox Group.

My Problem that in Germany the People are not care about clothes or maybe yes, they do but their style is so boring...
But i don't care

^ If you take a look at the first post in I believe the #8 thread, it explains everything. Maybe a moderator could move that explanatory post into the first post of this thread ...

It's still definitely possible to get a good deal on Yoox ... I haven't noticed a change. But they seem to continue their policy of inconsistent markups, not infrequently above original retail  You definitely can't assume you'll be getting a bargain there, you need to know what retail was ...

There is a Lanvin lapel pin on Yoox for 368 euros, the original price is 120 euro. Insane.
They have some good deals as well, got great Acne trousers. I saw a great striped scarf by Dries van Noten, but I waited to long and now it's gone. :(

^

When you pronounce "Yoox" in my language, its sound is identical to the word for "cheat"/"fake". I realized it when I was showing of my blazer and tolk them it was from "fake". It just didn't sound very great:lol:

Do you mean "juks"? we have that in Denmark as well. Never thought about it, but you are perfectly right.

So, I had some time to kill on Friday, waiting for the train and I did two great finds: the perfect black pants, marked down to next to nothing (and I was SURE it would take me forever to find these), and a Calvin Klein bra marked down by 75% - Calvin Klein is my favourite for underwear and pretty much the only brand I buy anymore, and I have been eyeing this specific style, so it was perfect! :woot:

^ Cute bra and great trousers! I have a similar pair from last summer and they are really flattering. I will definitely be looking for more cropped ones comes spring.
I am already looking for swimwear. :innocent: Currently I have just 3 bikinis from which 2 are quite old, so I would like an update at this area as we booked our honeymoon this week.
