Elokuvamuisti is collection of movie/tv releated blog texts. I remembered to read her blog where she wondered that when Tony Soprano got hospital which tv-hospital he would entry (ER, House, Grey's) these were same kind of stuff. Even if her taste of the movies is little bit different, these are still so lovely. I love how she admits not want to tell her favorites because they are hers, no one else could understand them, I know the feeling.. (and then I have picture of her bookself and I try to locate movies which she didn't write here).

The rise of Endymion was end of the serie and cheesy as I remembered but still so loveble.

We have discussion with my sis which were Diana's father profession in Anne of Green Gables, and because of lazy afternoon I ended up reading whole book instead of little googling. And because of Emily, I needed to check if I still like this writer at all. Yeah.. of course I was wrong about dad, he wasn't doctor at all.. how my memory suck.

I didn't read any books from my goal to read ten books from Guardian 100 lists so I thought to start with something easy. Pippi was good as I remembered.

Oh, and talking about picking books - I was playing Trivial Pursuit and there was quoestion about Bridget Jones. After that I had to show my sister why I bought the book in the first place. (because the cover were hole in her stockings and you can feel it by touching on the cover) this was probably the first time when I really liked and understand this book (yeah, this is so deep..) but being older and not married, it was easier to relate her problems and diets. I still don't too interested in to check other book but I could watch movies. Hopefully I could start to read Anna Karenina now because the game was question of it too.

I still couldn't believe how bad the latest Auel's book was so I checked her first The clan of cave bears and suprisingly it wasn't that good either. Maybe I really have changed since teens.

I try to keep record any books I read my Goodreads account and I seem to have very annoing habit trying to read many books at same time.. If the first chapters were not too interesting, books have to wait months to me finish them and usually I have to read them from the first page to remember plot. But there are just so many books I wanna read and so little time!

How does everyone feel they're doing on the challenge so far??

I feel like I'm going so super slow... especially compared to my pace last year.
I know I'm reading denser books for the most part this year, but still...
It's going a bit slower than I anticipated.
I guess you never know.

The book I'm currently reading is translated from the original Spanish and some of the sentences are super long run-ons with paragraphs spanning pages so it's tough for me to find a spot, even as a reader, to kind of breathe and take a break. Almost feels like I'm chiseling away at a boulder to find a hidden treasure, but it's not a bad read by any means. Just a bit more laborious than I need right now when I want reading to be a bit more of a relief and not so much of an effort.

I fleetingly wondered if I should amend my goal number, (to even less books!), but that feels like cheating and it's early yet in the year, so I'll stick with it.

^ I've hit the very large speed bump that is Foucault. So, I completely empathize with your 'chiseling' metaphor. This year I wanted to read more philosophy and social theory, which doesn't make for good light, speedy reading. Foucault is really interesting, but I generally have a 'lighter' book on the go as well to have a break with, which also keeps me slogging along towards 50.

How does everyone feel they're doing on the challenge so far??

I feel like I'm lagging a bit, and I've already not finished a couple of books this year which is so unlike me! I'm hoping for a good run of face-paced books to get me back on track.

i also feel like i'm super slow this year and even though i like most of the books i'm currently reading i just make no progress.

so i decided to re-read The Hunger Games, it's a nice quick read, i need something like that right now

Yeah, sometimes you just need an easy read or something you've read before, I think. If I'm at home I always read before I go to sleep no matter how tired (or even tipsy) I am and I find that having something easy or familiar works better in those instances than something new or intense. I usually have at least two books on the go.

I'm still stuck on the same three books. I haven't been able to touch another book unless it's school related, but thankfully it's Spring Break next week!!

it helps that i don't feel so alone in my slowness!

I might reread the Harry Potter series this year...
Just thinking that it could be a good buffer between these dense books and I'd definitely enjoy reading them again...
I've read the first 5 books several times each, but really look forward to re-reading the last two books in the series

The Hunger Games is a re-read for me, but I know it's a quick read and I was planning on reading it before seeing the film anyway, so I'm using it as a catch-up book
