Has anyone have such luck with Benzoyl Peroxide? Just bought a tube of PanOxyl antibacteria acne Aquagel in 2.5% and bottle of Calamine lotion. Thinking rotating the two by Calamine in the evening before I go to bed, and the BP in the morning, along with my usual cleansers and moisturizers I might have some luck getting rid of a breakout, while loosely basing the regimen on acne.org. Will post any progressed, I would love to my have my skin back again :ninja:

It didn't work for me, but I believe many others have had success. I believe there are instructions for BP on http://www.acne.org/.
I haven't read through it recently, but I remember there's a little guide on amounts to apply, if I remember correctly it goes through a common problem people have with BP to begin with, and how to combat it.

Good luck ^_^

yes. on acne.org they reccommend the more, the better. i did the regimen for about 2-3 months to no avail. it didn't get worse, it just barely got better. i also was on proactiv for about 8 months and that didn't do much for me, either.
calamine is my new best friend, though!

Though the calamine lotion does tend to make the skin flaky and dry, after you use a good moisturize with a few drops of Jojoba oil, I find it makes your skin much more smoother and less oily. That's a rare combo seeing I usually either get either or. :woot:^_^ But haven't noticed a change in acne yet, a bit discouraging with all the reviews of how quickly it worked and all, but I'll give it a week or two and see if there's any results.

I kept getting breakouts around my chin, so I started taking saw palmetto, and while it has no effect on oil production, it's worked to prevent those spots which come from under the skin.

I bought my tablets from Holland & Barratts, 100 capsules at 450 mg strength, and I take one in the morning and two before going to bed.

I've read the herb combats the form of testosterone responsible for causing bad skin. I had tests done which showed my levels were normal but the saw palmetto still worked.

I'm thinking about going on Accutane does anyone have any advice for it that I havent read on here? Ive had bad skin for 10years and I'm just over it.. I'm willing to suffer for a few months to help my skin

^Have you tried tazorac yet? It's the strongest retinoid available and some people consider it the "liquid accutane" because it's effective and has some similar side effects such as severe dryness, etc. My derm prescribed this to me a few months ago (in conjunction with benzaclin) and my skin looks amazing right now. I didn't have to deal with any weird side effects (except maybe a little purging), though, so I feel lucky. This seems to be my magic bullet!

Someone also told me that spironolactone cleared them up beautifully and insisted I go on that, too. What it basically does is block androgen (male hormones) receptors so that your hormones can be more balanced, so ideally, this would solve a lot of acne problems for women. (But I didn't go on this because my derm told me it has a lot of side effects as well and put me on taz instead.)

But I suppose if you've discussed and went through all the options with your derm, and you really have no other choice, go on the accutane... although personally I wouldn't do it (why potentially damage a perfectly good liver for clear skin?). Then again it probably won't be that bad, you're likely to just get really dry, sensitive skin and lips for a few months.

Is it strange that bio-oil is not making me break out?
I wear it when I'm in the house, to the point of being shinier than the frickin moon.

same with oregano oil! i will never understand how oil treats the skin, but it works so i don't ask questions

hello sorry I didnt want to seem like I was ignoring you.. So I went to the medical centre ( free doctors) to see what one of the doctors there had to say and he looks up tazorac and we dont have it here unless its under a different name? He said if I havent reacted that well to Duac gel and Doxycilan (spelling?) then next would be to go to a dermatologist because the doctors arent "supposed" to prescribe roaccutane.. So i rang the derm and the next available appointment is the end of November!!!! So I'm going to my personal doctor tomorrow ( I went to the free one first to see what they had to say before I pay for anything lol ) and to see what she can recommend because the other doctor said they're not "supposed" to not that they cant.. I really think its my only option and I'm pretty much willing to do anything to fix this problem.. 10 years of acne and I'm over it! its only on my chin but its painful and looks gross and I always have to wear makeup..But I will keep you posted and if my doctor cant do it then while I'm in thailand I'll go to a derm or pharmacy and get them to give it to me lol :ninja:

Does anybody know a good way of getting rid of acne scars/marks please? I hate them so much ugh :(

You know how I used to moan to the heavens about how I had swelling in my neck/chin since December, which would painfully swell us causing me to have horrible blister like spots on my chin? Well, the previous two times at the doctor I was ignored (As one doctor put it,if he couldn't see the swelling at that time,it didn't exist).

Well, whenI went to the doctors around 2 weeks ago to be prescribed zineryt again, the doctor felt my neck and now thinks that I have a series of growths on my thyroid,or something along those lines, which he thinks can account for my problems and pain. So I'm off to hospital soon to have them checked out.

As for the zineryt,I think it's only just starting to work again.

I'm using Epiduo gel, and Differin (Epiduo in the morning, Differin at night) and it's making me extremely dry and irritated.

My dermatologist also told me I need to be using a sunscreen ontop of my moisturizer.

Anybody know of any moisturizers/sunscreen/moisturizers with sunscreen that really sooth your skin and calm irritation? :(

i use Clinique SPF40 for the face, its marvelous as its sweat and water resistant, oil free so it wont make your face greasy or make you break out and its ok for sensitive skin.

For acne, I use ProActive, and it actually works. (I was pretty surprised at its effectiveness.) I don't want to sound like a commercial, but my acne used to be pretty bad. Now, I basically get no breakouts.

^ I use the same! Except SPF50, man it works so well and it is not a bit greasy at all.

can you guys recommend me the best foundations that won't make me break out?
i have oily, acne prone, fair, very sensitive skin and every foundation i use makes me break out or looks like i have very cake-y makeup on.

thanks :flower:

ps i've been trying the calamine lotion for a week now and i loooove it, definitely recommend it to everyone.
