it depends.. are you keeping a bowl of water next to your bed because of the heater, or just cause its winter??? if you are referring to a heater.. then yes, a bowl of water next to your bed DEFINATELY helps.. i used to do that before i got a humidifier. its not as great, but it helps

Lol, yeah thats what I meant... to keep the air from being so dry

Thanks for the adivce!

I tried eating very healthy for almost a year, it didn't do it for me, so I'm on Roaccutan now, after trying all the milder things.Nothing worked, Roaccutan isn't showing good results yet, but I have no side-effects, my cholesterol is a bit up, but everything's ok.

I've been a bit unhealthy with my diet recently, lots of stress etc. I've decided to start a healthy eating regime again now when I'm on Roaccutan...

I was on Roaccutane. Trust me, it will get better :flower:

Its one of those things where it has to get worse before it gets better, but it will

Update: I've been using the Differin for three weeks religiously. I'm finally starting to see some improvement. I've started taking the oral antibiotic (dynacin) again -- you guys have inspired me to stick it out. Thanks to all!

Aw, thats great! :woot:

Anybody who has acne problems should also consider taking tetracycline...it's another type of antibiotic. I had really bad acne and my skin has cleared up. My doctor also had me put on a topical lotion called evoclin, it's really light cause it's a foam.

one thing that will help against acne is VITAMIN B5! I know a lot of people that have used it. And everyone of them are positive to it!

taking vitamin b5 can cause hair loss though:innocent:

The one thing that really works is Roaccutane, but yes there are many risks that go with, esp if you're a girl. A lot of dermatologists are reluctant to prescribe it. Roaccutane works because it is made of concentrated Vitamin A.

The next best thing is the pill - in particular dianette. Because acne is largely driven by hormones.....

For some people it's an external problem so by using gels with benzyl peroxide in them can help to minimise the problem. Isodextrin - i think it's called - is a good one. But then in a lot of cases acne is an internal thing so the pill or Vitamin A tablets are good!

Failing that, laser treatment?

Clogged Pore

Ok, I had a blackhead on my face near the nose area and so I used the Tweezerman Blackhead extractor. But, I think the extractor pushed the blackhead further into my skin. Now, after a few months, the blackhead is still there and has a dark color to it that is different from my skin tone. Is this a scar or is there any way I can fix my pore. Any help would be appreciated.

^i find retin a micro (prescription cream) pretty good at removing and preventing blackheads. it's an exfoliant and works great on the blackheads on my nose.
regarding your scars, probably best to just leave them alone and just let the skin turnover; eventually bringing out the dark stuff stuck in your nose to the surface

Is Roaccutane any different than just accutane? I have been trying to get accutane for a while now, but my dermatologist keeps saying we'll do it if my skin doesn't clear up in a month or two, but it's been like... 6 months. I keep being prescribed all these different antibiobics and creams, I think I've tried just about everything under the sun by now.

My dermo never actually told me the difference or even mentioned Accutane to me, so I really have no idea, sorry :(

However, from what I've read on the internet, it seems to be pretty much the same thing...

I hope your skin gets cleared up soon. You should talk to your dermo if they keep putting it off and ask more about it.

becky, are u an oasis fan? i love the song chamagne supernova!! anyway, i just wanted to say thank you to the members who posted about the apple cider vinegar, i tried it and it's just wonderful...and it makes your skin feel really soft too...i just wanted to ask, after having diluted the acv with water should it be stored in the fridge or can it be left at room temp? and how long should the solution be kept for before throwing it away and making a new one?

^is this vinegar thing for very oily skin? Mine is really sensitive and often dry, so should I try this or not? Can somebody post the whole vinegar thing in a nutshell (how to dilute it etc.)?

Differin update: My skin isn't looking too good right now, but I'm holding out for some results!

I tried differin before, it got rid of the larger cysts, but I had little tiny zits all over my face which I actually found more annoying and hard to cover up since it wasn't in just the one affected area. But I'm sure different skin reacts to it differently, hoping it gets better for you
