The Acne Thread

I have a regular doctor's appointment coming up to see what I can do about my problem (my blemishes) because I wanna see if I can fix the problem internally rather than topically. The blemishes only seem to be taking place on one side of my chin so I don't know exactly what's going on in that particular region, but I plan to find out. I'm not on any other medication other than my birth control (can that cause cystic acne?) but maybe I ened a stronger dosage or need to be taken off it completely. I take really good care of myself: no smoking and hardly no drinking, I've cut out fast food and I drink lots of green tea and water. I hope my doctor is able to figure it out because I'm tired of looking like a pimply faced teenager :-(.

i've read that breakouts around the chin are hormonal... they suck:angry:

This isn't the first time I've heard this. I don't understand what exactly would change in my body all of a sudden. I'm wondering if it's the birth control I'm using. It's never given me problems and unless there's some severe hormonal shift that happens at 23/24, I don't know what would cause it.

yesterday I bought some origins skincare products... the guy said I needed checks and balances cleanser, united state tonic and the clear improvement masque..... I use the cleanser, tonic and masque last night and just the cleanser and tonic this morning with my philosophy's h2o moisturizer. I'm going to go back whenever I have a chance to buy a moisturizer and maybe never a dull moment... anyone tried it?

does anyone else get red spots that don't fade? I mean, after the pimple/spot has gone down...the skin is flat and everything but there's like a reddish dot left? I have about 3-4 and they make my skin look so uneven...they've been there for ages! How can I make them fade?

I get this also. I have found taking MSM as a suppliment really helps with this. Also putting rosehip oil on the areas. Rosehip oil is very high in vitamin A and C.

thanks! I'll try to get some next time I go shopping.

So I've tired this clean and clear persagel 10....this stuff is too strong for my skin. It's made it crack and raw and it did nothing for my pimples....Anyways don't try it if anyone is thinking about it.

Has anyone tried Oil of Olay Anti-Blemish, Anti-Aging Moisturizer? It's inexpensive, and I know it has salicylic acid, and wonder how well it works.

I have the problem that my T-Zone is oily (not extremely...but compared to the rest of my face) and my cheeks and the area around my eyes is very dry...so I never know what product to use.

Has anyone ever gone to acne.org? I have used their Clear Skin Regimen Gel, and it has cleared my moderate chin acne in less than a week. I have none of the pitting scars from acne over the years but I have problems with the pimple never coming to a head. It becomes painful and sometimes turn into solid bumpy scars (vs. pitted) if I do not squeeze (sorry blechh).

Due to a combination of stress, hormones and a pore-clogging concealer, I had what amounted to many large painful eruptions on my chin. I was really alarmed when it spread up onto my cheeks. Out of desperation I found the acne.org and I can not recommend it highly enough.

I don't know how the gel will work for everyone, but it worked extremely well for me, I no longer have large eruptions. Noticed very small, easily managed whiteheads coming to the surface. I've been using it now for a few weeks and I am much happier about the condition of my face. All I have to do now is just wait for the "banana spot" blemishes to fade away in another several weeks.

The Clear Skin gel is 2.5% benzoyl peroxide and goes on clear, feels like aloe vera gel.

I must add that I use L'Oreal Dermo Expertise Foaming Cleanser and Biore Ice Cleanser with salicylic acid as part of my cleansing routine b4 putting on the bp gel and moisturizer (Biore Shine Control or Shisheido Pureness)

Has anyone else here been dissappointed with ProActive. From all the hype it got, it didn't for me all :( .

It didn't work miracles for me either. I'm really considering stopping, it is wayyyy overrated in my opinion. :innocent:

proactive worked the first time i tried it and then its effectiveness gradually wore off. the entire time, my face was always shiny though from the lotion. (i have asian skin? i dunno)

i also tried murad and for the exorbitant price i paid, it sucked. it burned into my skin and did nothing but irritate.

Everyone seems to agree that Proactive works at first (or not at all) and then it stops. Hmmm...

i agree about proactive, i thought it would have been a miracle product and i expected great results, but it only irritated my face
