The Acne Thread

Has anyone ever gone to acne.org? I have used their Clear Skin Regimen Gel, and it has cleared my moderate chin acne in less than a week. I have none of the pitting scars from acne over the years but I have problems with the pimple never coming to a head. It becomes painful and sometimes turn into solid bumpy scars (vs. pitted) if I do not squeeze (sorry blechh).

Due to a combination of stress, hormones and a pore-clogging concealer, I had what amounted to many large painful eruptions on my chin. I was really alarmed when it spread up onto my cheeks. Out of desperation I found the acne.org and I can not recommend it highly enough.

I don't know how the gel will work for everyone, but it worked extremely well for me, I no longer have large eruptions. Noticed very small, easily managed whiteheads coming to the surface. I've been using it now for a few weeks and I am much happier about the condition of my face. All I have to do now is just wait for the "banana spot" blemishes to fade away in another several weeks.

I completely agree. I've never had horrible Acne, but it's been bad enough to be noticeable and a pain in the ***. I tried proactive and it actually made my face kina weird and scaby. But the acne.org regimen works and well. It took about a week, but my skin is clear and it looks better than it has in a long time.

Also DO NOT USE the recomended Eucerin crap. It made my skin feel like it was on fire, I used it once and 2 minutes later I had to wash it off because it hurt so bad. Instead I use Kiss My Face Oil Free With Napca, then if you want to use one with AHAs there's Kiss My Face peaches and cream moisturizer which is 4% AHAs.

After about a year of going to my dermo I finally got accutane! :woot: He said I've tried everything else out there and it's pretty much the only thing left. My acne isn't even that bad but it's nice to finally get accutane so I can get rid of what I do have. 3 freinds of mine have done it and their skin is flawless, I really recommend this to anyone with acne. Doctors are kind of reluctant to give it out though which is why it took me forever.

After I'm done with accutane I want to get rid of the scars with either micrdermabrasion or a chemical peel. I was wondering if anyone knows the difference between the two?

In a nut shell the major difference is:

There are several reasons to choose microdermabrasion over other techniques. Microdermabrasion requires less time and involves less discomfort.

Recovery time is rapid and normal activities can be resumed immediately. Microdermabrasion is safe and effective on most parts of the body and can be used in conjunction with other procedures such as laser skin resurfacing and chemical peel.

Hope that answers your question. :flower:

So I finally ended up going to the doctor and they're gonna give me benzoyl something in addition to an antiobiotic and a new face wash called cetaphil....i hope it works.

I agree with DriversHigh ; microdermabrasion is safe for sensitive, and to make a clear skin. I love it, not harsh my skin. and I use AHA lotion with glycolic acid 8%. First time you use once in a week, then 2 times in a week, then everyday using. Acne tendance or blemish skin has to treat carefully and lovely. Otherwise acnes or reddish will frequently visited your skin.

I'm glad there's another acne.org regimen user -- isn't the regimen amazing?!

I had a very stressful week and I figured I'd have a chin full of zits... I have been using only one finger-digit amount of the bp gel on my chin once daily (its usually AM/PM but its been nuts) and absolutely no zits!!!!!!!! nada. Whatever super formula they have in that gel, is what all the other companies are leaving out, b/c with the other pimple creams, I still broke out all the time. The only thing I am waiting for are my acne blemishes prior to the regimen to fade away... so I cover that up with Max Factor pan makeup for now. But once all the blemishes fade, I plan to use only mineral makeup.

That is funny you mention about Eucerin... I don't know if they have mineral oil in the ingredients, but for me any thing with mineral oil clogs up my pores superfast... and it always feels so greasy. I never use that stuff near my face (I have oily t-zone). I will try the Kiss My Face moisturizer. There is a KMF moisturizer with all the asian herbals and I've heard lots of good things about it. I might give that one a try... i think it has a black label.

Anyways... if anyone goes to the acne.org site, please look thru the videos and read the regimen and reviews, it might work for you!

hi! i can't believe i read every page in this thread. you guys are amazing and thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge - i've learned so much!

i was wondering if you can help me out by answering some questions i have. i have very dry, very sensitive skin and recently i've been breaking out like crazy on my chin - really, big painful zits (cysts, i believe?). i also have smaller zits scattered on my face and scarring. i'm really interested in going the natural products direction and last night i tried the ACV & aloe vera combo. i had my doubts (esp. cuz of the smell  ) but this morning my zits on my chin had diminished and my skin actually looked fresh.

so my questions are:

1) rose hip oil, aloe vera, or vitamin e - what are the benefits of each and do you apply all of them like you would a moisturizer?

2) vitamins a, e, c, b5, zinc and iron - is it better to take individual vitamins or would a multivitamin suffice? and is there a combo of vitamins that really does wonders (i've heard taking vit. c & e together does amazing things for your skin).

3) what's a good day time moisturizer that works well under make-up? i have to wear concealer and some powder until my skin clears up. :(

i'm gonna try eliminating breads and dairies and all the other stuff from my diet. but, the thought of giving up ice cream makes me wanna cry.

thanks again and you guys ROCK!

Check out http://www.kissmyface.com Pretty much all of their facial care or moisturizers are amazing (stay away from the deoderant :p) I've used their stuff for maybe a year or so now and I barely break out anymore and skin (face and body) is just much more healthier than it was before. Also if you get the peaches and cream moisturizer it smells SO GOOD.

I just wondered why do dermatologist prescribe antiobiotics for acne. I'm on an antibiotic in conjunction with benzo something (sorry I can't remember the name). Is there some infection that I don't know about (my doctor was really not specific on the whole issue)

dlg

The infections you have (redness and pain) are caused by bacteria that normaly live in your skin...but after some conditions are developed they can cause infection in a hair follicule..you probably have tetracyclins as antibiotics

I took accutane, and my skin was wonderful after. I recently started breaking out thanks to glorious oil of olay. :p To fight blackheads I use evian oxygenating line, (especially the scrub and toner for blackheads) and once a week a clay mask with salycylic acid. I wouldn't use those pore strips, the adhesive probably clogs your pores making the black heads WORSE! :ninja:

Just wanted to add: Please be careful with a chemical peel or microdermabrasion after accutane!! Accutane really weakens your skin, and you could end up with horrible scars! I didn't think my system was back to normal until at least 6 months, to a year. (Dry hair, dry skin, etc etc)

Hello, Im 17 and I have acne, I have very little acne on my face, it it mostly on my chest, upper arms, shoulders and higher back. I am on oxytetracycline, and have been for around the last year.

Can anyone tell me how or what I can do or use to get rid of it all? Products, food, drink, life style, etc...Thanks a lot, hope you guys can help :)

I suggest you browse this thread, there's a lot of information about those things. Do you have a dermatologist ( I suppose you do if you are on oxytetracycline ) ? Ask her for information too. I hope will find a way to fight acne. It's frustrating, but some day your skin will be clear and smooth :)

How can people just be put on Accutane for a few zits here and there? Isn't there a criteria that one must fill?

Also, to those that are/have taking/taken it: What kind of insurance do you have and how much did it cost you (regardless of whether you have insurance or not)? And how much were your doses?

try RETIN-A it's the bomb it smooths skin and acne disappear...it's magical. Also very good for wrinkles since it exfoliates skin.
I love RETIN-A:heart:

im so upset! i had gone to my derm and she said i needed to make a gyno appointment to get birth control, so that i could then start accutane. so i was excited. and during the wait for my gyno appointment, she prescribed me different meds. the oral med helped sooo much! i was finally starting to see results. but THEN, i had a horrible rash alllll over my body from being allergic to it apparently. so i went back to the derm, she took me off that, and gave me a pathetic prescription. my face has gotten worse than ever before! i have really red cheeks with little dots all over them!:( i still have 3 weeks until my gyno appointment. it seems like forever!!
the only way i can think of the get me through this...is thinking about what accutane may do for me. it worked wonders on my mom, and since i dont have cystic acne(yet!:/) then i pray it clears me right up!

accutane is not a birth control pill..Why are you going to a gyno to prescribe it?
