The Acne Thread

For people with very very oily skin, i recommend to scrub every night. Use an exfoliative scrub instead of thermal scrub.

Exfoliative scrub usually come in larger micro beads so as to cleanse off the dirt and clogged pores on ur surface skin.

Pimples and whitebead i strongly recommend Mario Badescu's Drying Lotion
World renowned and really works!!

Then u could try the entirely 'drying' range from Mario Badescu.

To control your oilyness and blackheads u could use Glycolic Gel

I'm using them currently and its really amazing!
i used to have many blackheads due to my oily skin and it hurts in the process of extraction.
Then i found MB products. And it just started from there.

my skin is pretty much acne free but on my forehead there are a few bumps that are very small, dont' have a head, and are just there forever. i use salycilic acid on them and they do not go away! i am afraid to squeeze them because i don't want to make them worse...does anybody have any tips to get rid of these bad boys?

Sorry if this has already been asked but I had trouble scanning the million pages in this thread

My older sister has really, really bad acne marks from dealing with acne her whole life. She finally got rid of the pimples, etc. but now has to deal with those horrible dimple-like scars on the side of her face.

Besides huge lazer treatments, anyone know of any good 'healing' products that are supposed to work? :flower:

(I know one option is to go to the Dr. but my sis just bought her first house so money is a bit tight)

I strongly sugest that you try Philosophy's "The Greatest Love". You can find it at philosophy.com or sephora.com.. Well worth the $25 :flower:

Usually when pimples heal, they leave behind scars or reddish marks called hyperpigmentation. There's really no good treatment except allowing time for those "scars" to heal. But there are definitely things to help speed along the recovery time. Sitting in the sun for a bit (not too long but just 10 minutes or so) will help blend in the scars. Swimming, especially in the ocean with nautral salt water, helps naturally exfoliate the skin. More severe cases may require antibiotics or any products that has salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.

^^^ Vainjane-uhm, i think i had skin about as bad as your sis, so this is what i used. At drugstores like Walgreens, eckerd, CVS, ets, theres a brand called University Medical. Thier bottles ar white with blue and orange colored writing. anyway, they have a two step system, i think its called the acne repair kit. Its two steps, two bottles. One is a little white cylinder shaped one, and the other is a blue tube. she has to use them twice a day. Not only does this help with the hyperpigmentation issues, this REALLY helps with the pock marks, the craters/dimples/ whatever else people call them. My skin looks way smoother and less red- she has to use it for 4-6 months in my personal opinion, thatshow long i used it to be really trully satisfied withthe results. And its not expensive, only $20.00 for the kit. check it out, i hope this helps!!!:flower:

I hope this helps you Maddi!! i use a product from a website, www.skintactix.com, great stuff!! i suggestt you read up on the cause of acne and the research behind this product before you buy anything. I assure you if nothing else, youll leave the website VERY informed...by the description, you sound like you should purchase the kit for light/moderate acne for dry skin. Please check it out. I really dont put my seal of approval on anything, becaus nothing worked for my severe cystic acne, but this is one of thing i wholeheartedly recommend!!!:flower:

Yah, theyre a lil hard to see, the pics are kinda painful. I had acne just a little less than the girl on the homepage- now the only thing i really worry about is getting rid of the scarring, which is going GREAT for me!!! :D

I found that drinking wheat grass shots (2 ounces) regularly is amazing for my skin.

Does anyone know of any good alternatives to BP? I've used the acne.org reginmen for awhile now and it's worked extreemely well. But now I'm pregnant and just heard that BP is contraindicated during pregnancy. So I need something to replace it.
