^ It acts as an anti-bacterial wash...but put moisteriser on afterwards because it can dry the skin a little....

ps: yesterday I had a few spots on my chin from stress of this stupid group assignment at uni so I washed my face with salt water and today, the pimples are gone....

^ This is what I wrote above....;)

it's a miracle! tatika my skin is almost all clear now. skintactix really worked for my skin. thanks so much for the suggestion. babypeace, i hope ur skin was as successful.

I've had acne for a while.

I've tried everything... and I literally mean everything. But nothing has worked. I read somewhere that cutting out dairy may help. But does soy milk count?

.. which is not too cool for your skin, anyone got a better solution?

Kimkhuu, how much water do you consume every day? My whole forehead used to be full of white- and blackheads. One summer I started to drink two to three litres of water per day, in combination of eating lots of fruits ie watermelon. My whole forehead cleared, and even if I still have acne, there is nothing on my forehead.

Soy is not diary so that is okay and healthier than cow's milk in general but tastes really sweet....

^ Are you resting you hand by the chin alot? If so then this is causing the acne or pimples. Don't touch your face when you are not cleansing it.

Washing your face in salt water is very good for your acne. Just don't rub the salt in your face, let the salt disolve in a bowl of warm water and then face the face with it. Do this when you wake up and before you go to bed...

Can you use any kind of salt? Or does it have to be like sea salt or non-iodized salt? :flower:

Sea salt is best because it doesn't have any chemicals...That's what I was told. You can correct me....

well, www.skintactix.com, has this section on white heads, and it states:

Whiteheads are a combination of oils, sebum and cellular fragments that produce firm to hard plugs within hair follicles. They are closed from the skin's surface by cellular debris at the follicle opening. Because they have no contact with oxygen, they do not oxidize or turn brown, as blackheads do. They form a light or yellow-white lump and are called milia (or milium, singular). When bacteria is added to these plugs, the condition can lead to acne, especially cystic acne.
Whiteheads are promoted by excessive cellular exfoliation, which quickly clog or block the follicles. Some skin specialists believe individuals with frequent and multiple blackheads and whiteheads produce sebum that is drier than normal and conducive to forming firm plugs. Sebum contributes to skin oils and people with dry sebum may have dry skin and this may be especially true of people with chronic whiteheads but it is also possible to have dry sebum with oily skin.
The sebaceous glands normally produce sebum with linoleic acid (omega 6), an essential fatty acid. This type of sebum has a liquid viscosity. It is calming to the skin and does not promote follicular irritation that leads to plugs. When linoleic acid is not available, the sebaceous glands produce sebum with oleic acid. This oleic form of sebum is irritating to the skin and promotes plugs. Oleic sebum is much firmer than linoleic sebum and is prone to producing hard plugs rather than flowing out of the follicle. This causes blackheads and whiteheads and both of these conditions may lead to acne infections.

something i would suggest quite honestly? like eurofashionjunkie suggested above, drink LOTS of water...and get as much omega fatty acids in ur body as you can..this will help make the sebum more fluid..ergo, less whiteheads, also use a gentle exfoliator on ur face..skintactix has a great line for whiteheads..i havent purchased, but my brother did, he had AWFUL white heads around his jaw and hair line, and now theyre gone..mine werent so bad so supllements, water and exfoliation were enough for me..hope this helps! :flower:

I'm sure Skintactix creates fine products but after looking at the ingredients I'm not impressed. They don't look any different than other standard products. They use Salicylic Acid as the active anti-acne ingredient which is the same stuff in products like Neutrogena.

Then in their glycolic cleanser they use Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate. These are no different than Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. When you put them in water they are chemically the same thing!

And the products also contain Parabens!! I know there is nothing wrong with parabens but there is nothing wrong with Benzoyl Peroxide either. This company wants to bash one ingredient (peroxide) but let another one get a free pass (parabens). It just doesn't seem right.

Kaleigh,

Didn't mean to try and make you feel bad. So sorry. :( There's really no reason to be upset about parabens in the Skintactix products. To get the real story on parabens check out a recent post we did on the subject.

The Perils of Parabens

Don't use salt that has iodine. My dermatologist said that you should try to buy non-iodized salt to eat, so I wouldn't imagine putting it directly on your face would be good....so use sea salt^_^
