The Acne Thread

The Neutrogena products geared toward oily/acne prone skin esp the mask. But if you can buy DCL MOSOM online it's cheap and my derm used to sell it out of his office, it's 15 dollars online no glitz , smells like gasoline but every pore will be gone, no acne it was amazing that was when I was 13 -15 and I had raging hormone break outs ..so it really works

Has anyone used Brevoxyl cream for mild to moderate acne? My doctor prescribed it for me and I just used it right now and...it dries my skin up so bad and it is really flaky

has anyone tried the proactiv version in shoppers called acnefree? is it any good?

Yes- the dry flaky skin is a common side effect. I would suggest decrease use (use once a day and alternate days) or see the Dr. if it gets really bad.

Also, remember to moisturize

My friend had REALLY bad skin for years, and the beauty specialists kept giving her expensive products which didn't help her at all. Then she went to a skin specialist and he told her she actually had a skin disease which gave her the acne. She got some pills she had to take for I think it was four months (if I am not completely wrong it was A vitamins) anyway, they cleaned her skin up completely and now you can't even tell she ever had bad skin. I don't know if her case was special, but it certainly worked.

I also know from my stay in England - I've never heard of it happening in Norway - that doctors give antibiotics for acne. As mentioned above they only work for a short while though, and I don't believe they solve the problem.

It sounds like your friend took Accutane. Guys i use to have mild acne and really have those panic attacks everytime i saw another pimple coming up. I highly recommend that if nothing has worked for a while that you see your dermatologist and consider Accutane. For me it means that i dont have to have that anxiety and stress of going to bed and wondering is that pimple coming out, how will i look for this event and so on. I know how preoccupied i got with my skin, how much money i spent and so on. Im still on the treatment but feel so much better now after years not being so conscious of my skin. Goodluck!! :flower:

Oh god, it's really getting bad :o. My skin is so dry and flaky.
About the moisturize bit: Aren't I only meant to put bevolyx cream on, nothing else? Is it ok to mix it with a moisturiser?

has any one tried the olay skin care products for blemishes?

does anyone find they get pimples when you don't sleep enough?

My body wreaks havoc upon itself when I don't get enough sleep (which is often) or I spend too many nights in a row up drinking (which is not as often but more than I'd care to admit) and my immune system is weakened. Not only do I find that I break out more easily, but existing imperfections take longer to heal.

My Dr. told me to moisturize... You should check with your Dr. if you are unsure...

ijust bought the loreal microdermabrasion 1 week ago and ive seen little difference.

how long before i see a difference and will it completely or dramatically get rid of acne scars and discolouration?

you have to wait a bit more emailme.:)
i've seen a big difference after regular use (2 times a week) in give or take 5-6 weeks

will i be wild happy? im so impatient to see siignifcant results!

i wanna just use it everyday but i know that cant possibly be good.

what exactly will it take out? will it get rid of my discolouration completely?

i don't know the condition of your skin but it made my discoloration significantly better..no need for makeup coverage..and don't do it as often as you said!!if you want to do something everyday, use a more mild everyday scrub.i use neutrogena's daily warming scrub which makes my skin supersoft..but i think any mild scrub will do the work and add to the effect l'oreal microdermabrasion will have..:flower:

alright. im asian so if youve seen asian people with scars similar to that.

you use a scrub everyday? i heard somewhere its bad for you in the long run.

my skin gets so oily if i don't,i can almost feel the dead cells clogging it when i just use a regular cleanser:doh:.but the granules in the scrub i'm using are really gentle-they're like small plant seeds, not chemical like in l'oreal's..but everyone's skin is different so what works for me might not work for someone with more sensitive skin.:flower:
please let me know how it goes..but be patient!i've heard that most people give up on their skin products after 5-6 uses because they want that instant gratification you mentioned.the truth is that even the most expensive creams (la mer, revive) will usually take 4-6 months for full results.

help!
i have this really painful bump under my skin that is going to turn into a pimple.... i reallllly want it to go away soon but it's not even close to coming to the surface.
i think i got it cause i've been switching around my skincare system a little lately .... i switched from the clinique 3 step system to oil cleansing to a mixture of the two and back to clinique.... i zeno-ed my pimple about 30 mins ago and put some retin-a on it...i have a feeling its going to be a while until it comes to the surface.
also i have this pimple that i popped and has now scabbed over. i put on neosporin on it last night and a little retin -a on now but it seems to be getting worse!. :(

ah, the people you can feel but not see! its the worst isnt it?! i had one in between my nostrils 3 weeks ago.

you cant really do anything about it other than let it take its course. mine survived for 2 weeks.

put your face under the running warm/semi hot water from the faucet and start massaging it in the direction of your hair line. This flattens out some minor pimples and does some damage to the size of your cystic pimple.

try not to obsess about it even though you cant really ignore the pain.

p.s : what is retin-a for?

^thanks...i'm going to go steam it, but it's hard not to worry for me because i usually have FLAWLESS skin -_-
i used retin-a because my skin is naturally oily... it just dries it out :)
