The Acne Thread

My skin is at the moment a lot lot better. Go benzoyl peroxide & minocycline!

I'm a teenage guy (recently turned 15), and acne has never really been an issue for me until recently. I've been getting quite a bit of zits/pimples on my cheeks, and nose especially. The nose part is the worse, not to mention ton of awful blackheads. It's no where as bad as it could be, but I want a solution to get rid of it and to prevent it. Can anyone reccomend any products or treatment I could use to prevent and get rid of acne and blackheads? Thanks a ton!

Sorry for double post - it wouldn't let me edit my last one.

I decided I should start washing my face daily now, but I don't know what to wash it with? Do I just use regular soap or is there some product I need to buy?

NO NO NO to regular soap first and foremost!

My advice would be to go to the doctors to start and try to nip it in the bud. I really regret not going to the doctors for about 4 years so I tell everyone to go!

Nooooo! Not SOAP. Why is it always the guys who use soap? Get yersen some facewash.

I've never used a soap on my face. iRyan-If you wanted to use a soap, clinique do a soap bar for face, which unlike normal sopas,is designed for facial skin. As for the blackheads on the nose problemo, have you tried blackhead clearing pore strips? They've worked wonders on me. But I don't think you can ever do anything to prevent spots and blackheads, which is why if it gets worse the doctor is your best bet

Hey guys,

I know how your all feeling because my skin has been really awful in the past. I feel like I've finally found a routine that works so thought I would share it will you all...

About two months ago I was put on dianette, which has helped tremendously,
at the same time I started using Liz Earle products which are AMAZING. I started off just with the cleanser, toner and moisturiser which are all lovely and smell really great, there also really gentle which is good. Now I have started using something called superskin concentrate (Also by Liz Earle) This is like an oil which you put on at night. Don't be put off by this, because it actually regulates the oiliness of your skin. It helps so much for drying out spots and really seems to be soothing the redness and scars.

I would highly recommend the Liz Earle range to any of you!

Good luck x^_^

I've been on dianette for two whole weeks now....and its made my skin sooo much worse....which I didnt really think was possible...

I want to come off it, but everyone's telling me to be patient....I dnt know wat to do.......I should get a letter any day now for my appointment with the specialist....and then hopefully Roacutane!!

for blackheads my advice is NEVER push them out(extract) with your fingers and not wash the area.

More bacteria will enter it and become a pimple that doesnt have a head for you to pop. Youll be picking on that with you're bacteria-filled fingers which will create more pimples in the area.

Hence the beginning of the cycle. Thats how it started for me.

Aww I'm so sorry to hear that, and really surprised...I suppose different things work for different people! Good luck with everything

I hope someone can help me out. Lately whenever I break out it's always on one cheek at a time. For instance, for a couple months I pretty much only broke out on my left cheek and then a month or so later I would only break out on my right cheek and now I'm breaking out on my left cheek again. While I'm breaking out on one cheek I pretty much never have a pimple on the opposite cheek.

Does anyone know why my skin is doing this? I've thought it could be how I sleep but I always try to sleep face up and I don't think I would unconsciously prefer sleeping on one side for months at a time.

Has anyone had any success with Spiro? I want to take it primarily to cut down oiliness, but I'm afraid of an initial breakout since my skin is clear from BC pills.

Anyone?

I'm having the same problem as we speak, lots of little pimples all over one cheek which isn't like me at all. I don't know why this is but I can look into it ;)

im still using the neostrata smoothing cream and my skin has never been better and improved in such a short time.

ive been using it for less than a month now and i havent had a big breakout other than the one on my jaw line but ive been ensuring that i cover that area with the cream.

i think because it gets rid of all the dead skin theres nothing blocking my skin anymore:)

could be a perfume allergy..irritating your skin.. that is if you spray yourself there?

Nope I don't spray perfume there, I've never ever had them before and theres like one on either side. Quite large aswell.

Ugh, it's so annoying isn't it? I looked up a little on it and read that it could be caused by your phone pressing up against your face. Maybe that could be your problem? Unfortunately I always press my phone against my left cheek so that couldn't really explain my problem.

I had a bad breakout and it was pretty much on one cheek. I think it just happens sometimes...

It could be if you rest your face on that hand alot. They say it takes about 3 weeks for a pimple or breakout to develop so maybe if you have a big weekend or something it will take a couple of weeks to show.

Same with if you smoke pot ( not sure if I can talk about that on here) you will notice bad skin after that because your skin is trying to get rid of the toxins in your body.

Sometimes I would have just a normal cigarette out drinking ( I havent in about 2 years) and my skin would be pretty bad the couple of weeks after.. I could never be a fulltime smoker or pot smoker just for the reason of my skin alone.

I think if you have acne and dont look after your skin you would feel alot worse but I have acne but my skin is very clean and healthy looking so it helps a little with that

Mine is on the side of my face that I use my phone, but having said that I'm beginning to feel small pimples on the other side too  I have an appointment with the doctors to discuss my skin and current anti-biotics as I went last week (for psoriasis,I have been cursed with bad skin) and he said to me that he could see they wernt working so great, just what someone wants to hear lol
