The Dark Knight

Although I wouldn't want to be around him if he wants to make that pencil disappear again :p

 Oh golly.

Has anyone heard the soundtrack? A masterpiece by Hans Zimmer, I truly love the "Why So Serious" theme. Well done! The whole song is about 9 minutes long, and it kept me listening. So many different themes and use of sound effects. Creative mix of instrumentals like orchestras and electric guitar.

Okay I posted a few days ago in this thread when I first saw the movie, on it's opening date and I didn't say much except that I liked it. But I didn't say why. I know plenty of people who have or haven't seen the movie think it's overrated but it is one of the few movies that can exceed all of the hype. I won't include any spoilers...

I knew the movie was going to be good from when I saw the first trailer. And I knew why, because of the Joker. It was evident from the 2 minutes of scattered scenes of the movie from the trailer that his role was the most interesting and pronounced. The Joker was the sole reason I went to see this movie, it had nothing to do with Heath Ledger the actor or his death.

The first five minutes of the movie was spectacular. There was action but not too much, and it was possibly the greatest opening scene ever. It was the perfect way to start out, to set the film in motion, I knew I would like the movie from the first five minutes, how many movies can you say that's true?

The Joker's personality was spotlighted and I immediately liked him. Heath's portrayal as the Joker made this movie amazing. He was perfect. His acting skills surpassed anything I had ever seen, this role was seemingly made for him. He paid attention to little details that had a big payoff.

For instance, it wasn't what he said, anyone can read lines from a script, it's how he said it, the expression on his face, the body language the subtle movements he made. That's what made the big impact. It wasn't Heath saying it, it was the Joker saying it. It made all the difference. He portray the Joker's psychopathic personality and lack of empathy incredibly well.

I personally love the Joker. I think everything about his character is amazing, even though he is the "bad guy". From his appearance with the make up/clothes/hair to his unusual voice he was very interesting and intriguing. His perception on society and how "amusing" it was that people made plans was something thought provoking, and I mostly agree with. Even his lack of compassion was almost acceptable. The Joker's sense of humor was dark but funny IMO. You may think I'm sick, but I rooted for the Joker during the whole movie, and would much rather Batman die than him. Speaking of which...

I hated Batman. His voice, suit, bat car/motorcycle, secret lab etc. all made the movie slightly cheesy. But without Batman there would be no Joker and thus no movie so his presence was needed, but did anyone agree they should have spent a little more time trying to modernize Batman more as they modernized the Joker? But at any rate the movie was amazing, and is not your typical superhero, comic book film. Even if you're not into Batman or superheros or villains you'll like this movie because it has a great plot, great acting and wonderful special effects.

Personally, I find the whole soundtrack to be amazing. A masterpiece, really, they have every moment of the film done so well; from the heroic streaming instrumentals to the metallic sounds of the relentless Joker. I recommend it.

^ The soundtrack IS amazing. I listen to it an the Batman Begins soundtrack more than is healthy. I haven't been this into a score since A Clockwork Orange and that was about an eon ago. Hans Zimmer is a genius.

And this movie is going to win an Oscar for Achievement in Sound Editing even if I have to rig the awards.

isn't about time tfs re-opens the heath ledger thread?I mean,it's been so long!

I saw this movie friday night and absolutey loved it!! the theater had 6 screenings of it and all of them were sold out. I saw it again last night and at first I thought that I was gonna get bored sitting through this 2 and a half hour movie but I was actually more into it this time. Alot of if made more sense to me, there was so much going on that I missed some parts the first time. Heath Ledger's performance was amazing
And im proud that they filmed it in chicago, I recognized alot of the places which was really cool.

The première in Holland is today 24 of July!
I have seen Batman Begins, and I loved it!

The director and writer Christopher Nolan, did the screenplay together with his brother Jonathan. Together they wrote also the screenplay for Memento, Batman Begins and The Prestige. Christopher directed all of them, he was also de director of the film Insomnia.

I have high expectations! B)

I'm seeing it tomorrow - finally! After watching the trailer back in December, it's finally here! :bounce: :bounce:

When he says "Hit me!" & Batman punches him then Joker walks away like nothing happened, oh man, I go rollin'.

oh man, I go rollin'.

 Oh god, I'm dying laughing. I adore you.

"We need to be back up to awesome."

Does everyone remember the Hand Sanitizer scene? Whether or not I've mentioned, it kills me. Damn it, Heath!

I saw it last night in Imax, it was incredible! one of those movies where you were continously absorbed. heath was perfect as the joker, and i liked harvey dent although i think they could have introduced two face more in the next movie, due to the fact i thought there was only need for one villain.

and i have to say the bit where the joker was a nurse made me laugh! especially when he was trying to blow the hospital up.. And i have to admit i did like the jokers psychoness because he did make me laugh and i kept wondering how he did get his scars!

and i'm sure this hs been pointed out many times in this thread but did anyone else notice cillian murphy at the beginning?

I noticed. I almost would have forgotten that though because it was in the beginning and obviously I wouldn't be thinking about the beginning by the time the movie was ending.

Amazing. Sheer brillance from start to end. I'm absolutely drained from watching it, which I rarely get from a film. I saw it at the IMax today, and the audience were amazing - a few came with all The Jokers make up on.
Fantastic cast, and my love for Gary Oldman has gone up ten fold after watching that. Heath was beyond superlatives; but I didn't realise how incredibly funny he'd be "...six.."

The pencil scene! OH. MY. The pencil scene! :bounce:

^ lol dont forget the nurse scene ;)
i really wanna see it in imax, it would be my 3rd time watching this movie though

It was pretty amazing...
It totally lived up to the hype...
I was pleasantly surprised..
Heath was amazing...
As were the Joker's costumes...!
& Christian Bale... is just so... :crush:
