The Etc Etc of Perfumes & Fragrances

My friend gave me a bottle of Paris Hilton because she had too many
It is surprisingly quite nice and last for ages :D

So, I have no idea if this is a good thread for my question but here it goes anyway: cologne on teenage guys: yay or nay?

I'm 15, just for reference. Thanks! :)

Definitely oui. Age has nothing to do with perfume usage ... only taste matters.

I started wearing cologne when I was 6. Yeah, I was a stud.B)

Joking.

i started with 13-14. Tommy by Tommy Hilfiger. i loved it back then. matter of fact, i still do. it just smells like youth, like irresponsibility and going crazy, fresh, sweet, running around town (or mall for the american youth) in summer with your friends, having fun, not having to care about the serious things in life.

it also manifested itself in my mind as a fragrance of good times cause it came coupled with my first love  but that's a different story

verdict: Yes. wear cologne.

contact me if you want a small list of stuff that might interest you. just tell what kinda stuff you like to smell.

You guys are wonderful at swaying me :D

Any of you know what Davidoff's Cool Water is like? I've heard it's amazing but actually going to a department store and smelling it is going to be a bit of a task for me...

Street_a_Licious, I would contact you, but I have no idea what I like to smell when it comes to colognes and perfumes. I'm completely new with this, as you can tell.

i have coolwater on right now:lol:
its really fresh but wont last long i think thats the only problem with it. it said to have pineapple in it but i never really smell pineapples its really fresh and calm though no matter how much u put on yourself its never overwhelming.

well my uncle use it and he has been using it for few years now and he is really happy with it fresh and clean a little like aqua de gio armani.
the men fragrance of coolwater is way more popular than the women....

Cool, I really want to try it out now! Looks like I'll have to get up and head over to the mall for a sample...

Thanks! :flower: Any other ideas for colognes (not too expensive) that smell, well, good and seem to "fit" a 15 year old? That sentence was hard to understand but hopefully a few of you know what I mean. :)

^ i would go for gucci pour homme II i try to find better ones to fit u:)

Snap! Tommy was one of my first colognes aswell, and i dont think your to young to wear cologne. I cannot remember when i started to wear fragrance must of been around 10-12 ish

toddiot, you should try some emporio armani colognes such as 'city glam' or even D&G 'masculine' and also try some Hugo Boss colognes. The reason i am suggesting you to try these is that they are quite light and also most of these i received as gifts and dont particularly wear them any more, but the reason they were given as gifts is that i feel that they are safe so to say as the giver knew that they are very wearable.
Hope this helps you out a little bit.

fresh: Tommy. to me it's a classic. Bulgari Aqua. Dior Higher. (i love this one.) Creed Himalaya. (a bit pricier, but lasts ages.) Armani Privé Eau de Jade. to me, it's really just beautiful.

sweet & fresh: any Escada summer fragrance. they're fruity and smell like good mood. also Paco Rabanne Black XS. Chanel Allure Homme Sport. the older version w/o the "Sport" smells more grown up, just in case. Tom Ford for Men. despite what the ads promise, it's not raunchy or overtly sexy, but, well, a fresh fragrance, with fruity topnotes. oh, and Creed's Virgin Island Water. i just love this in summer. it's very tropical, but in a rather sophisticated way.

spicy: okay, since you just started with colognes, maybe skip that part. but when you wanna take your girl out and want to smell more grown up...

YSL Body Kouros. Kouros Eau D'Ete (make sure that it's the Eau D'Ete! the original is way to strong for ANYONE under 45). Chopard Casran. Bulgari Blu Notte. (i got quite a number of compliments for that) i'd also say Givenchy Fresh Attitude and Armani Prive Ambre Soie, but both have a certain smoky chocolate note that takes some time to get used to.

and in short, just a few faves i doubt you can wrong with:

Clinique Happy, Ralph Lauren Romance & the Tommy.

Totally agree Street_a_Licious i forgot all about Ralph Lauren Romance, i may have a quick spray now to take me back to teenage years!:innocent:
And Clinique Happy good recommendation!

This is why I love tFs... I ask a question and people answer it kindly and with understanding, I love it! :)

So, from what I've read (I've also done some price research), I think I'll go with either Cool Water, Tommy, or Happy. I'll head over to Eaton's Center tomorrow and see what I can find, I'm thinking Shoppers Drug Mart would have a lot of what I'm looking for... if not I can always venture up to Sephora.

I've also done some other research and concluded that I should buy a eau de toilette or eau de cologne as opposed to any other type because they're nice and light smelling (3-8% sounds good to start out with)

I'm quite pleased with my fragrance knowledge, thanks to you guys! I'm excited to buy me some cologne as well...

lol

you'll rethink that after you found a cologne you love dearly. fact is, all us guys can use is Eau de Toilettes or EdColognes anyways, EdParfums are rare when it comes to male frags. i'd bulk buy Dior's Higher, if there would be a higher concentration around, in a heartbeat.

report back on what you got :flower:
