The Etc Etc of Perfumes & Fragrances

I bought Davidoff's Cool Water! I have yet to use it but I think I love it. I got it over half price off too! :)

i totally believe that. although there's some general descriptions of notes which are always right. like, bergamot. you read bergamot and you know it'll be a citrusy fresh fragrance.

but on others, there's a huge list of things and all i get is one specific scent (which i like though) as seen in Black XS. I can't speak for anyone else, but on me, it smells like strawberries. spicy, sweet & creamy strawberries, yes, but strawberries.

i prefer to try certain fragrances on my own cause PR descriptions are rarely good, although they can entice you to try.

Hello!! God, I'm so happy I found this thread! Lol!

I have two sets of questions:

1.
Could anyone describe these two Men's Fragrances for me: Eau De Cartier Concentree ( which is said to be fresh, green and woody and, well, what does that mean?) and D&G light blue?

2. I currently wear MJ Daisy but am almost finished the bottle. I feel like going for a more sophisticated, mature perfume now but still want that freshness you get with Daisy. Any suggestions?

THANK YOU GUYS!!! This thread, as I said, is fantastic!

i use marc jacob daisy as well :)

well i am really into fresh smells .if u want a fresh smell yet sophisticated try out

pucci new fragrance its very fresh yet it has this sophiticated smell to it that u dont get much with other fresh smells.

why dont u use light blue? fresh smell and one of my al time favorite and it is sophisticated and has this calm lemon smell to it.

blvgari green tea and also white tea.

Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey is amazing u should try it

hope that helped u a little at least :flower:

i tried D&G light blue for men today. as i expected, nothing outstanding. an aquatic, fresh scent.

i didn't find Eau de Cartier Concetree today, but i tried Cartier's Declaration. awful. smelled like a sweaty smoker to me.

Depends on your taste: think you cannot go wrong with one of the Chanels... or some nieche maybe? Frederic Malle has some nice offerings....

you sure can go wrong with the older Chanels when you're young!

though Coco Mademoiselle smells divine and classy, yet fresh.

or Chance/Chance Eau Fraiche.

^ yes thats really true chanel and also in my opinion ysl are not really a good choice when you are young but ofcourse chance and coco are both good and can be used at a young age also babydoll by ysl

^^ Hm, I don't know about that. Older perfumes are really nice. Particularly in extrait form, such as Carons and Chanels, and also Guerlain. I think people that do it wrong overspray the EdT in my experience. I wouldn't dissuade someone who is younger from perfume that in my opinion is better crafted than most things out there. On the other hand, I don't know how likely it is that a young person would want to obtain an extrait over a EdT at the mall.

Those three were my exact thoughts ;) Though you're right that older Chanels require a certain attitude (but not necessarily a certain age ... me still thinks).

Fragrance Reports

I've just got an email from Dolce & Gabbana, they've released a new perfume called Dolce & Gabbana The One For Men
Living where I live I probably won't be able to get a tester of this until at least the twenty seventh century.
If anybody gets a tester can you give me a report on what it's like?
I pride my perfume collection

love

it's...... not special. true, i went into the store biased already (with Matthew Mcconaughey, the king of unclean promoting it?), but i tried it and it was simply nothing outstanding.

tried Chanel's Allure Edition Blanche too. smelled like a warmer and sweeter version of Armani's Eau de Jade, but honestly, the slightly cold and fresh scent was my main winning point when it came to EdJ. maybe i'll pick up the Chanel when i'm working again... besides, it's also cheaper than EdJ (being a Armani Prive fragrance).

How surprising. An unimaginative mens' fragrance.

Nothing ever compares to the likes of Opium, Obsession and Cacharel pour homme.

I tend to just use femme instead of homme now, any suggestions on a distinct mens' perfume?

x

Two men's fragrances I tried recently and liked are Divine L'Homme Sage and Parfums de Nicolaï New York.
