The Etc Etc of Perfumes & Fragrances

How surprising. An unimaginative mens' fragrance.

Nothing ever compares to the likes of Opium, Obsession and Cacharel pour homme.

I tend to just use femme instead of homme now, any suggestions on a distinct mens' perfume?

x

Have you tried one of the Comme des Garcons? Most of them can be easily used by men and they're really different.

recently my bf bought the YSL L'homme and i have to say i never smelled anything as good as that cologne smells sooo good! i just thought i should mention it

Kouros smells distinct. if Tonka Beans smell good to you, Chanel Allure Homme+-Sport, Joop Jump. Bulgari Aqua & Blu +- Notte, Dior Fahrenheit. Nautica Latitude Longtitude, but that juice's discontinued. though there's still like several thousand bottles distributed all around the world in smaller boutiques and online shops. i got 5 bottles of that sh!t, just in case i might really run out of it one day. and i'm still buying it whenever possible.

but the name its not kourus though that is one old ysl fragrance!
this one is new. and olivier martinez is the face of it. and yes i love the smell of all u mentioned :)

When I was at work yesterday passing through Nordstrom I kept smelling the guy ahead of me and he smelled so freaking good. So, long story short I asked him what he was wearing and that was what it was. Though he should work on not wearing so much, it was still delicious.

i wasnt talking about YSL pour Homme. Diamonds asked about distinctive smelling fragrances.

Hey just wondering, has anyone tried Diptyque Philosykos fragrance? Its apparently meant to smell nice but i just want opinions from people that have actually used it.

^Yes it is meant to smell nice, it's perfume! :p

But it's a very nice fig scent by Olivia Giacobetti, some people think its her best, as I believe she has said it's her favorite (I might be wrong on that). I wrote a review on MUA and have a generous sample I use, but its a green fig scent; starts out with green leaves and bit of the sap, mid/base is still green figs but with some coconut and creaminess added to it. Its a light scent, good for spring/summer and warm weather.

^No problem, its one of Diptyque's most popular scents and they won't discontinue it, so that's good, although they are discontinuing several of their other scents.

the new versace gold smells so good im going crazy for it!
n also dior will have a new fragrance out both for men and women and jude law will be the face of the fragrance for men

I have read that too; I wonder if she still says it, now that she is exclusive to Lubin! ;)

She is a remarkable nose; so far my favorite of hers is Dzing! I just got a sample of Philosykos; I will need to test it again when the weather warms up. Last time I tried it at the Diptyque store I liked it, but it seemed to fade quickly.

^ I did not know that tangerine! How interesting, I've not tried any of the Lubin scents yet although I keep meaning to try Idole some time.

I love how Philosykos starts out, I just personally dislike coconut very much (childhood memories of being forced to eat coconut, coconut on all deserts, and coconut milk your basic coconut overload!) so I didn't like that note very much.

I like Premier Figuier Extreme though too, a bit different but I thought it was stronger and lasted longer.

Gwen Stefani is Such a Doll

harjuku.jpg

Fresh off the success of her first fragrance, Gwen Stefani is gearing up to launch five — yes, five — new ones based on herself and her backup singers. WWD reports that the Harajuku Lovers collection will encompass five different perfumes: Love, Angel, Music, Baby, and G. And if you ask Gwen, she's amazed that it all came together. She told WWD:
"I didn't think this project would actually come to life. The idea that Coty would let me do five different fragrances for Harajuku Lovers was a fantasy. [But] it really had to be five, because that's what the world is. Each girl has her own personality and sense of style. We're all saying something different with unique personalities."
While I wasn't crazy about the design of L's bottle (and boy, did you tell me how much you disagreed) these doll-shaped bottles are pretty adorable. They'll sell from $25 to $45 each when they launch in September. And as long as Gwen doesn't trot out the Harajuku Girls to coquettishly giggle while promoting the scent, it should go over well. To find out about each of the scents, read more.
WWD reports:
  • Love is a floral with top notes of sparkling bergamot, pink pomelo, peach and bamboo leaf mist; a heart of watery peony, living hydroponic lace rose, jasmine sambac, nectarine blossom, creamy paperwhites and Egyptian jasmine, and a drydown of petally ylang, creamy vanilla orchid, sensual musk and blond wood.
  • Lil' Angel is a fruity floral with notes of raspberry, cranberry, blackberry and pineapple; a heart of pear blossom, candied violet and sugared rose, and a drydown of lollipop accord, hinoki wood and crystal amber.
  • Music has top notes of clementine and sparkling pear; a heart of jasmine sambac, sweet pea and honeysuckle, and a drydown of vanilla, skin musk and sleek woods.
  • Baby, has top notes of freesia, bergamot and white rose; a heart of orange flower, tiare flower and jasmine petals, and a drydown of white musk, soft woods, heliotrope, vanilla and violet.
  • G has top notes of crisp mandarin, fresh coconut and apple skin; a heart of jasmine sambac, soft freesia and magnolia vapor, and a drydown of coconut cream, white sandalwood and cottonwoods.

:ninja:

Have you heard about - or tried - the new Guerlain Figue-Iris? I don't know if it's available yet, in fact I had forgotten about it until I read your post. Fig and iris, should be an interesting scent, especially considering it is the work of Jean-Paul Guerlain!

^Yes I heard about it, but have not tried it.Is it a Paris exclusive as well? I'm interested in hearing the reviews and sampling this one.
