The Etc Etc of Perfumes & Fragrances

I think it is part of the Aqua Allegoria series, and should be available at the same stockists as the previous releases in that series. I did some searching and it doesn't seem to be in the stores yet.

I recently found a bottle of Chloe Narcisse for only $8.00 at Marshalls. It smells really pretty but a bit strong. I was thinking of buying Paul Smith Floral too but I have no clue how it smells, it was also very cheap, only $16.99^_^

i cant wait to see how this will turn out
the perfume so far was one of the best versace had eventhough it was a little close to bright crystal of versace but the versace gold is amazing and now they are bringing the men fragrances.

How surprising. An unimaginative mens' fragrance.

Nothing ever compares to the likes of Opium, Obsession and Cacharel pour homme.

I tend to just use femme instead of homme now, any suggestions on a distinct mens' perfume?

x

I personally love Serge Lutens
Cèdre on men.

The notes include tuberose, cloves, cinnamon, amber, musk, and cedar.

^Yum, one of my favorites (even though I'm a woman). I think Norma Kamali's Ceremony and CdG Zagorsk would be great on a man, NK having a bit of pine/cedar in it with incense and the latter more strongly of a dry woody cedar.

I forgot that I was bidding on some perfume on Ebay and I won, lol! I was surprised to see the email that I had won something; its an older vintage bottle of Youth Dew Skin Perfume in a pretty glass bottle. Can't wait to get it!

^ Do you wear it as a femme? I have tried as I love it so much.. but I just can't.

I have now bought Hermès
Ambre Narguile from the Hermèssence collection.. It's pretty much perfect perhaps it could be a bit more woody... I can't stop smelling it, it must be love.

I say your perfume in 'what did you buy today' I'm intrigued..I have not heard of Youth Dew Skin?

Yes I wear Cedre, it reminds me very much of the juniper trees we used to have at home. It works well for me, and I like the wood and berry-ish note very much.

Youth Dew is a perfume by Estee Lauder, created in the 50s. It was very popular and still is, although many people really do not like the scent, or because it reminds them of their older female relatives. You can still get it today and Tom Ford did a version of it, (Tom Ford Youth Dew Amber Nude), where he tweaked the formulation of it. It comes in varying concentrations: cologne, bath oil, eau de parfum and parfum. The parfum version only comes out around the holidays, I believe its $80 for 1/4 fl oz., but the eau de parfum is easily available in most department stores.

I decided to bid on this one, just because I loved the bottle, it still has some parfum left in it, and I love vintage things.

The notes for Youth Dew are:
Top Notes: Rose, Jonquil, Lavender
Middle Notes: Jasmine, Muguet, Spices
Base Notes: Moss, Vetiver, Patchouli

 Yeah, I don't think of anything remotely related to youth when I smell this, but I guess during those times this was a youthful smell. However I still love it, even though I have the urge to sneeze whenever I smell it. It's very lovely.

I smelled Play on a card and did not like it enough to want to put it on my skin. It is very light and fresh/citrusy; basically not my taste in fragrances. If you like those genres, though, you may like it.

Just saw this on nowsmellthis, but it seems it will only be available in USA
Christian Dior Escale a Portofino

The notes include Calabrian bergamot, Italian citron, Sicilian petitgrain, bitter almond, orange blossom, juniper berry, cold spices, cypress, cedar, white musk, caraway and galbanum.

Paul Smith Floral is very light and doesn't last long, you can wear it everyday and everywhere, it's a very "informal" perfume. Nothing special.

Yesterday I tried Beat by Burberry. It's good, but I expected more from it. I though it would be a little more daring, but it's just another musky scent. I guess Burberry can't afford being outrageous.

^I love Beat. At first I was that it is just ok but now I have used it more and really, really like it.

^I tried it out the other day at a Nordie's event and I liked it, but I have a wishlist of perfumes I want to get and so it had to go on the bottom.

That's the good thing about woody/musk perfumes, they tend to grow on us as we use them, because they're softer than other scents. I might buy it but I still need a bigger bottle of Carolina Herrera's CH so Beat can wait a while longer.

Chloe Narcisse
Elizabeth Arden Red Door
Hypnotic Poison by Dior
YSL Paris
Thierry Mugler Alien
Wish by Chopard
Amor Amor by Cacharel
Max Mara Silk Touch

If you could understand a woman's personality simply by her perfume, what kind of impression would you get from the ones in that list?
What kind of women would purchase the fragrances above?

[I hope I make sense]

today i first tried it! and i think i love it! it's warm but not sweet... but i think i've got to try it again to finally decide^_^

I couldn't stand Beat, it was too ... something for me.

Navy Green:

Narcisse: Hmm ... can't say I've actually smelt this?
Red Door: reminds me of my mum, she used to wear it all the time. She's since er, upgraded :ninja:
Hypnotic Poison: An ex friend used to wear this, so I sadly associate it with crazy b*tches. Which isn't fair, it's a lovely smelling perfume
Paris: A sweet young-ish girl who wears a lot of pink and likes high tea.
Alien:Smells a little like cordial to me. Perhaps a younger woman, little bit of a sophisticate.
Wish: Like the grown up Angel. A mature minded person (errr, this is totally my work perfume  )
Amor Amor: Again, a younger woman. Someone who likes to wear red. Flirty.
Silk Touch: Haven't smelt it, can't comment.
