The Etc Etc of Perfumes & Fragrances

I bought Dior Addict 2 Summer Litchi and Marc Jacobs Daisy at the duty free before my holiday. I really love the Dior one, and the Marc Jacobs was mainly to share with my mum, I find it a bit over-powering but when you've had it on for a while it's nice.

The perfume I want to get is called "the exact friction of stars" by Pilar and Lucy. It's described as a "[FONT=Arial, Helvetica]luscious vanilla fragrance with heady notes of coconut, orange, cloves and chocolate" and it is the best thing I have ever smelled..it has a cute bottle too!

Also, oddly enough and quite by accident. I have discovered that this massage oil from Bath and Body Works is fantastic to wear as a perfume. It has a very exotic, sultry, opulent scent to it of black currents and vanilla. Normally it would not have dawned on me to wear a massage oil as a perfume, but the scent was lovely, it lasted from the time I had a massage to the next morning when I took a shower (16 hours!)....and it was never overpowering...very subtle and I really just enjoyed smelling it. Really, I guess when you think about it perfumes from the ancient times were more like oils than the "eau de parfum" spray types we are used to today. It has gotten me interested in the history of perfume and curious about what scents Egyptian ladies. etc.. used to wear.

I can't believe Chanel named the new perfume for the Les Exclusifs line, "Beige."

Beige.

You have got to be kidding me, what an awful name.

I find it hard to believe Karl approves of this.

i have a question, are those two exactly the same? which version is latest ? thanks ! :)

Well one is like 50ml and one is 100(?)ml - the first one doesn't say if it's parfum or eau de toilette, but I suspect the latter.
So the only difference is the size really :)

I love Kelly Caleche. To me it smells like leather. I absolutely love it and only wear it on special occasions.

^ I have this love/hate relationship with Kelly Caleche. I want it on me but then when I have it, it's too strong even with the slightest spritz. Then when it fades I miss it! Lol.

Annu-Fancy may just be one of the best celeb perfumes out there. You can definitely smell both the caramel and the fruity notes up top, but it's not overly sweet...the sandalwood and jasmine help to temper it to make it wearable by a wider audience.

Anywhoo, next weekend I am going to the Nordstrom Fragrance Event, and I am really excited to get my bottle of Escada's Ocean Lounge fragrance-it's better than Ibiza Hippie even. I'm also considering getting something else...but I do not know what to get yet. I'm kinda tempted to spend the $150 to get the leopard-print jeweled atomizer...but I don't even know HOW to fill an atomizer from my favourite perfume bottle. Do I just spray it into the atomizer?

Oh, and the worst perfume of the last year has GOT to be Elle. Seriously, you mess up what could be a nice perfume with the worst dose of patchouli...

^yeah, I liked Fancy. I had change to test it and now wonder if I'm gonna buy big bottle. More I try it, more I like it!

I mean Fancy is definitely not going to appeal to everybody but it is an amazing daytime perfume for somebody who wants something warm, but girly.

I ended up getting Michael Kors Island Bermuda today and I was told that it had plumeria, jasmine, and honeysuckle in it-but it's more tiare flower, freesia, and peony. It's definitely a floral-floral, and I am in love with it. I also am in desperate need of Pivoine Angel by the end of this year...I cannot wear 95% of perfumes with patchouli in it, but this is an exception. All of the Garden of Stars fragrances are, as a matter of fact.

Does anyone know where I can by vintage/pre-2003 Rive Gauche? that's NOT EBAY

So I really want a new Perfume I like metallic smells and spicy smells. I use Prada and NU by YSL. I dont like florals but I do like Pitchouli scents. Help me out :flower:

You could try Serge Lutens Borneo 1834, it's patchouli and cocoa, not too sweet, and now available in the export line!

I can't think of any that have both patchouli and metallic scents but you should check out fragrantica or osmoz (those are websites that show the notes of many perfumes).

Metallic, have you tried Bond No. 9's Silver Factory? Patchouli, Les Nereides Patchouli Antique.

Should try Comme des Garcons 2. Metallic and spicy.

^good suggestion ;)

I need some opinions about these fragrances - what kind of person would wear these:

Cartier - Le Baiser Du Dragon
Kenzo - Jungle L’Elephant
Hermes - Un Jardin en Méditerranée
Thierry Mugler - Alien
Guerlain - Samsara
Dior - Poison

Also, I'm looking to buy my bf a new perfume. I want something classy, for someone with an "old soul" and a young body :p
Any suggestions? [no "fresh" scents though :p]
I was thinking of

Dior Homme
Eau d'Hermès
Ungaro III
Dunhill London
Green Irish Tweed by Creed

Green Irish Tweed is an excellent choice, but for an old soul in a young body ;) I would recommend Habit Rouge by Guerlain, or if you want to be economical Dolce and Gabbana Cologne is fantastic too.

I thought of that for the reasons you mention, but it also has a strong floral component, at least to my nose.

I second Habit Rouge, and will also suggest Parfums de Nicolaï New York.
