Let me know if anyone has any questions... big changes are about to happen with the new campaigns coming out soon!

I was bored last week and decided to do my own rankinglist of the best models in the industry. I thought I might as well post it here and I hope that someone will apprecaite my hard work :p Here's what I did, I constructed a point-system which gives the girls a certain ammount of points for a certain job. For instance, a Vogue Italia cover is 40 points and a campaign for Prada with more than one girl would be 35 points, etc etc (if you wanna see the whole point-system, PM me)
So then I decided that the work of the 4 past months should be incorporated, so I looked for every magazine in our Magazines section from August to November, searched for the reviews or scans and see what models are in or on it and then give the girls points. Same for all the F/W 0708 ads and runway showlists. After a LOT of work, I combined the points for August, September, October, November, FW 0708 ads and SS 08 runway and came to the following conclusions for November. For a December list, all the August points will disappear and the December ones will added, etcetera. Oh and I decided to do 75 girls, because 50 girls didn't cover some girls that I thought needed to be on a list such as this one and 100 would've been too much (plus the MDC top 50 has 74 models on the list, so yeah)

I hope this will start some discussion or something...on things that happen to stand out (like Coco is number one and not Gemma or Sasha, or that the highest ranked non-caucasian is ranked at only 41, everyone is Russian, or whatever :p )

PS: A special thanks to Faith for making all the runwaylists she made available to all of us! :D

Let me know if anyone has any questions... big changes are about to happen with the new campaigns coming out soon!

Yay, new thread!

With the amazing covers that Vogue Australia has produced lately (except for Kim K and Gigi Hadid,) I genuinely think that models who get Vogue Australia deserve more points.

^I've been considering that. Also, just to be clear, I don't use the original points system that Mr. Dale used.

vogue paris cover for example worth 40 points while vogue paris editorial worth 30 points.....this make no sense. absolutely no sense!

if vogue paris cover worth 40 points then vogue paris editorial worth 15 points at most. a vogue paris can make a huge difference in a model's career ..........not editorial.

after anna ewers and andrea scored vogue paris covers their career took off. the same thign cannot be said about any editorial. no wonder why joan is on the top of the list.

a vogue cover should worth at least 4- 5X more points than a vogue editorial.

^Like I said, I use my own points system completely separate from Mr. Dale's. That post is from years and years ago. This is a continuation thread. I'm doing my own thing completely separate from whatever Mr. Dale was doing.

do you mind sharing how you been adding points by the work of the models? By I also don't understand how Joan is number one with no major covers or ad campaigns.

I mean is sure she is top 5 but number one?

At this moment, I'm looking into revamping how I score. I'm currently rescoring all the models and I'll post as soon as I'm done. With the way I'm rescoring, Joan is not #1.

However, Joan does have major campaigns (Marc Jacobs, H&M, Balmain, Prabal), plus the Estee Lauder contract.

Yeah. But none of them are A list campaigns.
Marc Jacobs and balmain might be B-list And besides she is not OG campaigns.

back then I think we all agree on the top 1 brands. (Chanel, dior, Gucci, Calvin Klein, Prada, LV and Burberry) were top 1 since those brands are more exclusive and their campaigns are always in all the major magazines.

But then all those houses have had major changes in the past years.

Also HM is not as exclusive or high fashion house as the rest but they always have their campaigns on all the magazines also they always used top models.

I'd agree that those are the top brands. I'd also include Marc Jacobs, Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Jil Sander, Versace, Alexander Wang, Valentino, Givenchy, Hermes, Lanvin, and Alexander McQueen in terms of campaigns.

So this is what the list looks like without older models included among the current models. If this is what you prefer, let me know! I'm compiling and scoring these lists for you guys. This list is also with the revamped scoring to give a little more weight to covers and campaigns.

^ nah, doesn't make any sense to me at all.

first of all, how do you judge if somebody is an 'older' model? Karolin Wolter has been around for a long time, but made a come back a couple of season ago. Isn't she as 'old' as models who never completely faded from the same era though? (Looking at your list, Andreea Diaconu, Toni Garrn, Karlie Kloss etc. come to mind.)

Also, I think what makes your list special and a lot better than the pseudo-lists MDC does, is that you were ranking models according to their actual work in a given time, no matter how long they have been around or what level of fame they have already reached.

Stick to the old system, if you ask me!
(On a different note, I would appreciate seeing your grading system, too!)

Okay cool, thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it. That does make sense, and I do like that certain aspect about my list.

I can post the system, but I know it's not going to fit everyone's wants or needs or thoughts on how it should be scored, so I'd rather send it individually to people if they so desire it.
