Let me know if there are any questions! The reason for the changes is that any leftover points from campaign season S/S 2015 have now been removed.

if i were you i wouldn't remove works from s/s 15. if you pay attention to professional rankings you would find that the majority of rankings count works in the span of at least one year.

I agree. Status and credibility are necessary when doing these kind of rankings; otherwise the placement of models fluctuates too much, and you literally have to update daily. (Does anyone else miss MDC's old ranking system as much as me???)

My process was this: once a F/W campaign came out, I would add the points to that model and remove the points from the S/S campaign model. It was a transfer of points. I've asked numerous people if I should keep the points from both seasons and received no reply, so I just did it like that. I want my list to be as current and in the present as possible so that a model like Cara Delevingne, who booked many campaigns last season but none this season, isn't still in the top 10. That wouldn't be fair to the models who are booking campaigns now. I think my list shows how fickle the industry is, and how models come and go in the blink of an eye. It shows exactly how the industry works. For example, MDC still has models like Kirstin Liljegren and Lily McMenamy on their list. Neither of them have booked any work in the past year. I do not want that for my list.

The list won't fluctuate as much now, because the models will keep their points until December/January, when the S/S 16 campaigns are released. In terms of covers and editorials, it's a three month thing. Right now, August and September covers are being released, which means points from May and June are lost.

Does that make sense to everyone?

I think it makes sense:) I like that the fickle nature of the industry shows, like you mentioned.

For us idiots out there, what does the letters "OG" and "MG" mean in the point system?

thank you!

only girl and multigirl. if a model books an OG campaign, she earns more points.

I do! Even Karl Lagerfeld knew about those ranking. I read here that the Brazilian Press made a big deal about Raquel being the #1 model during her time. The old MDC Ranking thread and the discussion/debates were epic. I actually lost interest/stopped checking out MDC after it scrapped the ranking and changed it to a list

How did the Number 1 list go again?

Angela
Gisele
Angela
Karolina
Liya
Daria
Gemma
Raquel
Lara
Joan

Did I miss someone?

I also think that Natasha should have been Number 1 from the last quarter of 2008-2009. Raquel should only have been Number 1 from 2007-SS08. Removed from Top 50 list on FW08 then added to Icons backed up by multiple-season multiple-OG campaigns and 2nd US Vogue cover appearance. SS 2008 Natasha had an exclusive Gucci contract. She was the face of everything Gucci and the Number 1 runway model. By FW 08-09 when Gucci let go of her, she landed 8 campaigns, 7 of which were OG and was still the Number 1 runway model. This would have been the right time to crown her Number 1. Fresh from the Gucci contract for the first half of the year followed by the dominance in campaigns for the last half. Then come SS09 dominance in campaigns again. 6 campaigns, 3 with Meisel. New Gucci contract. US Vogue cover. By 2010 make Lara Number 1, remove Natasha from Top 50 and transfer to Icons backed up by her Gucci contract and OG campaign, being the Number 1 runway model for the 3rd consecutive season plus 9 Vogue covers that year.

That's just my opinion

^Actually khyrk, I still keep a ranking based on MDC's old ranking. (You would GAGG if I told you my #1!!) I started it back in 2008, when I too though it was Natasha's turn at #1, but when MDC stopped actually RANKING the models last year I continued as I was, and as MDC formerly did. While I totally agree that it really is inappropriate to rank Icons, Supers, and Legends, it is VERY necessary to rank the TOP 50 Models with a number. ( I mean fifty IS a number, right?) Something about taking the actual numerical rank away makes the ranking seem instantly stagnant, and they almost become totally boring and old......fast. The old format made the rankings feel like The Kentucky Derby meets the Billboard charts. It was really nice when the rankings had the big updates usually in January and August and my model geek friends would bet (actually gamble money) where the models would be placed; especially after say a Vogue Paris cover, or 2x OG Prada for example.

Those were the days.

Spill! It would be fun to know your ranking with the justification of positions  The MDC Ranking Thread used to be fun, reading people's opinions. It just got out of hand towards the end

Actually looking back, by SS08 Natasha would already be ready to become Number 1 coming off the strength of her 5 OG Campaigns for FW07.08 which includes her contract with Gucci. SS08 Gucci made her an Exclusive.

HA! That MDC ranking thread was gold to read! I wasn't a member then but you guys would really go at each other. It sometimes grew to scary levels... :ninja:

This is such a great thread and I love that it's updated every couple of weeks. Wish there was more active discussion though, not about whose faves isn't ranked, but about the models and their work level in general. Well done littlekiki!

Oh yes it did. Too bad I wasn't a member back then, tfs used to be so much fun.

So did MDC btw. Don't know what their problem is nowadays. The new rankings suck at every level.

Thanks for still keeping track of the lists btw.

new update!

I wonder how a model like Tami Williams, Karolin Wolter, Emily Didonato or Sarah Brannon can be in this top 50 while I never see them anywhere.

Daria Strokous on the other hand has got
- 3 September issue eds
- 1 blue chip September cover
- An August issue cover + ed
- A beauty contract + campaign
- A high end commercial campaign

I see where you're coming from, but Daria did nothing during the months of May, June, and July. I do keep in mind some past bookings when comprising my list.

In addition, the models you mentioned do have a lot of bookings.

Tami Williams:
Dolce & Gabanna
Calvin Klein
Topshop
Vogue US editorial
2 W Magazine editorials

Karolin Wolter:
Public School
Proenza Schouler
Gap
Vogue Turkey cover/editorial
Vogue UK editorial
W Magazine editorial
HB US editorial
WSJ editorial

Sarah Brannon:
Philipp Plein
Alexander Wang
Carven
Sportmax Code
Interview Magazine editorial

LO Singapore cover/editorial

Beauty Papers editorial

Emily DiDonato:

Glamour Esp cover/editorial

Daria Strokous:

Daria is currently at #72, I'm sure we'll see her on the list soon enough.
