I've tried everything (apart from laser) - one thing I would never do is epilate!!! Don't go there!

oh god, i tried to wax last night. i got so far and almost started crying with pain. i'm sure it'd be fine if i got it done in a salon but NEVER AGAIN.

:( aww im sorry dear...
yeah i tried it once and never again...at least at the salon they know what theyre doing

I think it's been over 2 months since I waxed, and the hairs haven't grown out

:)) me too

I think I'll eventually go for the laser but only when I know for sure that the hair doesn't grow back

Ok, so I got myself one of these 'Veet' waxstrips from a friend this afternoon. They are intended to be used on your legs, but I gave it a try around my bellybutton. Actually, it works quite well! The little stubble is gone and the skin is really smooth and soft now.

I shave down there. It used to be really a pain to do because I'd get a lot of ingrown hairs, but then I found a technique that really works for me and now it's easy and pain-free! ;) I shave with Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Daily Treatment Conditioner. I don't know why it works so good for me, but it does! I got the idea to use conditioner to shave with from when I bought a special shaving cream just for the pubic area. It said on the bottle that it could also be used as a conditioner. So I decided to try shaving with conditioner when I ran out of the special (and overpriced!) shaving gel, and the conditioner worked even better!

That makes sense... I shave my legs with J&J baby lotion for a closer and smoother shave and it works great. But putting conditioner down there? I don't know. Isn't that partially unsafe?

dude, im a 18 yr old girl and i have the similar problem since purberty and im still trying not to complain about it.... and Asian supose to be hairless. HAIRLESS!!!

I am glad I am not the only Asian/part Asian woman in the world who feels extra pressure to be hairless due to their ethnicity.

I use conditioner to shave. I usually shave with lower end and cheap conditioners. I don't even use special shaving or gels. Conditioner works just as well.

I don't shave or wax as a regular thing. I don't have all that much pubic hair though, so I guess it never has bothered me, and so never became a regular thing like shaving my legs. Though actually I don't have a lot of leg hair either (my mom has none! here skin is completely smooth and hairless!).

However, in a swimsuit I definitely need to trim, and I'm thinking of trying a brazilian this time around. I plan to go to a salon to get it done. Any Toronto recommendations?

reading all this i think i must be a lunatic. i have done my own waxing and it really does not hurt me so much - it's tolerable. generally, though, i just shave every so often (i use kiss my face brand shaving cream). i don't keep it bare at all times because i'd literally be shaving every twelve hours to do that. my hair is thick, dark, and coarse, and grows like freaking weeds in june even if it's waxed instead of shaved. my partner has learned to deal with it not be being perfectly smooth 24/7.

^...you're not a lunatic. ;) it doesn't hurt me that much either and i do it myself. well, except in the 'underneath' bits...i can't do all of it...i literally want to cry with pain..:innocent:  but the top bikini line part is fine...i've gotten used to it. and unfortunately my hair is thick and dark too...so i feel your pain. i loved your description..."grows like freaking weeds in june"... oh how i can relate....

yeah I can totally relate too :D my hair is dark and thick aswell and shaving is too complicated as I realy HATE stubbles so I wax it myself and it is really not that painful (just on the underneath bits as adorefaith said)...
all you people who wax or shave, do you go completely bare, or leave some hair?

I am glad I am not the only Asian/part Asian woman in the world who feels extra pressure to be hairless due to their ethnicity.

I second that. Maybe it's because I'm so used to shaving that area now that I feel like I have a lot of pubic hair if I don't do anything. But I wish the asian genes really did work on me and I wouldn't have to worry about it, ugh.

. But putting conditioner down there? I don't know. Isn't that partially unsafe?

Well i do not shave "down there" but i do use conditioner , I always presumed that anything that's recommended to use in the shower has to be safe for all body areas, of course i can be totally wrong.:p
For the legs I use my husband's shaving cream, he´s not happy about it but bad luck for him.
lol.gif

And please boys, unless you look like a gorilla do not shave completely, it makes you look like pre-teens and that's NOT sexy.

^^Hahah hear hear, i totally second the last sentance.

I have to say i must be one of those lucky ones, it dosent hurt me either, i had a Brazillian today and it wasnt that painful.

I tried to give myself a bikini wax once by myself. I was very careful on the one side, and it came out fine. I think I got too confident because when I went to the other side, I wasn't holding my skin tight (or at all) and I was left with a huge ugly massive bruise, right in the worst area. Took months for it to completely go away. I think i broke abount every blood vessel in the area. Needless to say i didn't continue waxing that size, and I think i'm permanently lopsided now. :) I go to a salon now when I want to get the area between my thighs waxed. I can do teh area in front on my own. But again, I don't do it very often. Once a year for swimsuit season.
