The How Do I Get This Look? Thread

Andrea is right about Cherish - it is my go to nude! I love it with a pale pink gloss on top.

Thanks lizzy:) I was wondering do you have any recommendations to which brand i should use to master this look? And also would it suit everyone or just specific face structure?

Try Bobbi Brown Gel Liner or Stila Smudge Pot in Black. Use Laura Mercier shadow in Bamboo and MAC eye shadow in Shroom. Use any good black mascara (like Lancome Definicils) or False Eyelashes.

For bronzer, try Tarte in Park Avenue Princess or NARS Multiple in St. Barts.

For lip gloss try NARS Orgasm with MAC Spice liner.

What lipstick is wearing this model?

It´s red but nevermind what color, when it comes to reds you have to try it for yourself. ;)

How can I achieve the lips from this look?

(style)

Would it be a combination of lipstick and clear lip gloss or purely lip gloss or something else all together? Specific product recomendations would be highly appreciated :flower:

^^^ I would imagine that's a result of not washing her makeup off, Smudgy mascara and eyeliner!

That looks like it might be a stain with a clear gloss over it.

lips etc

This looks simple but is probably comprised of 3 elements:

- medium pink lipliner
- Sheer pink lipstick (syrup by MAC is good)
- and some gloss

I happen to just buy all the basics from MAC because they still have the PRO products and they have a good price point - and they recycle, so 6 empties gets you a free lipstick...

xo

I'd like to get some tips on how to produce the above eye liner/shadow effect as well.

that effect its easier to achieve than you guys think. all you need is steady pulse and a good eyeliner. on the lily d pic, they first put a thick white line that can be done with a sharp pencil, really close to the lashes, on the bottom. and on the upper lid its the dark eyeliner fisrt then the white one. To apply a thick sharp line as lily`s i suggest using a liquid eyeliner, try first with the center and leave the corners to the end, practice without any foundation on so in case you dont like your inner/outer corners you can just "erase" them with a qtip and cream. thats gonna need some practice bc the line has to be sharp and even. she has also false lashes up and down, down's are shorter of course.

the green eyeshadow looks well difuminated, thats easier to do if you have nice brushes. for any color combination use three different shades of the same color. if theyre iridiscent theyll look just like lilys. first apply the lighter color all they way up to the brown bone. always working your way from the lashes up, cause there is the concentration of color so you just drag the color up as needed. then the medium shade starting fromt the lashes up to the middle part, then clean up a bit your brush to difuminate the line between the two colors. apply the darker shade on the lid and difuminate the color line between the medium and dark shade as well.

Extra tips: Practice. i use liquid eyeliner on a daily basis (brown for day time and black for evening) so i can do a thick or thin line super fast. practice practice. i also do that with my eyes open, theres people who pull their lids and draw perfect lines, but not me, i dont like pulling my lids and i NEED to see what im doing, works perfect every time, i also draw the corners while open. but when youre doing it to somebody else its fairly easier to do it while close. And last, buy a liner that has a thin applicator. the ones that are thick and stiff dont help at all. it can be a little messy at first but one you get the idea works just fine!

if you try this, post your pics, id love to see them =)

One trick to ensure perfect makeup is to do the eyes first (before applying foundation) because if something smears or eyeshadow trinkles down on your cheekbone you can more easily remove it without risking having it look grotty.

Practise practise (steady precise hand) and good brushes like daniellat mentions is essential as well has makeup that wont budge.
A good eyemakeup primer (Urban Decay) and a makeup sealer (benefits Shelac - it will give the liner a sligth shine rather than matte finish..) is something you should try.

Image #3 - I think it's either achieved using airspray makeup (see the thread here ) or by applying skin tape..

There are some primers that give a nice glow. Estee Lauder give really good advice if you just explain what you want.
I got a primer that gives a gorgeous shine. It is the Spotlight one by Estee Lauder
