The How Do I Get This Look? Thread

Okay so ever since i saw the Valentino HC show i've been asking the same question every time a pic shows up ... how do i get my makeup like that lol

I tried it the other day with the usual products a shimmery bobbi brown eyeshadow, only a bit of foundation, i don't need a lot. I used Bobbi Brown Peony Blush (tried with pale pink which also looked gorgeous) which looked really cool and then the corresponding shimmer block. for the lips i bought that new Dior lip polish (which is amazing lol)

in short it didnt really look right lol

so please, how do you get the Valentino HC look lol. I chose the pic closest to my skintone and colourings, so that i could have best help. I only came into the whole doing makeup thing when i left school so i'm not that great lol, and don't wear a lot of it because of my lack of bravery, hence the sort of natural look and my complete uncertainty in achieving it lol.

^For that look you do need some light coverage... Try mixing your foundation with moisturizer and apply all over, and then use foundation as a concealer if you have any redness. You might want to dab some concealer under the eyes - the key is really even skin.
If you don't have a creme blush, try spraying your face with something like MAC's Fix + or something similar after applying your Bobbi Brown blush. I have a fantastic lip & cheek creme from Becca in this colour:

They might have used a skin coloured highlighter on top of the creme blush, so the shimmer brick is a really good idea.
It seems like they're wearing just a hint of mascara on curled lashes and some brow gel too.
I don't think they're wearing eyeshadow, though.

I love this look so much, it brings out the best in everyone I think. I immediately noticed the makeup when I saw the first pics of the show ^_^

that look is gorgeous! itd be great for everyday at college or something,

also i think they are wearing a bit of shimmer eyeshadow in the inner corner of the eyes

Yes...and sheer lipstick or lip gloss (no shimmer) in the same colour as the blush

Yay, you are the best, thanks, I'll try that tomorrow and see if i get better results, and thanks for the recommendation on the creme blush, I can never find a good one :)

i might have a go at it myself today although im never sure how to use creme blush so i think il stick to powder.

I cheat and use a foundation brush :ninja: Apparently I have really dry cheeks

ahh.. i never thought of that.. im sure i have a spare one lying around, i may try it then i have a peach coloured cream blush just sat in my draw not used much

I got complimented today thanks to your tips, I don't have the fix+ ... yet, and am considering acquiring the rosebud lip cheek creme.

So thanks for the help, it looked so much more natural and i felt cute lol, and confident putting on and wearing makeup.

^I'm so glad to hear that! I do use Dermalogica Multi-Active Toner, but as long as it's sprayable, I don't think it matters much ^_^ Becca is quite expensive, I must say... The Lip and Cheek Creme is about £21  but a little goes a long way. Rosebud is a cool pink, btw. Here's a better pic:

Edit: You might want to check out Becca as a brand, because the whole concept is natural looking makeup, focusing on getting gorgeous skin. Unfortunately I only own the lip&cheek creme right now, but I want to try the concealer and foundation if I ever find somewhere to test the colours before I buy anything.

how can i apply loose glitter? is there anything cheap that i might have at home thatll make it stick?

^ If it's for eye-makeup, try a bit of clear lip gloss or even vaseline. (Haven't tried this myself, but a friend of mine is a makeup artist and gave me this tip.)

thankyou, il probably try lipgloss as its going over eyeshadow and i think that vaseline is too greasy and will mess up whats under it

Can anyone make me look like Megan Fox?

I'd love to know how she did her eyebrows and what eyeshadow she's wearing :ninja: Not too crazy about the lips, though.

For brows, you might try Chanel's waxy eyebrow pencil. The taupe is a forgiving shade if you can't go darker, but darker would be better. They have two eyebrow pencils - the waxy and the powdery. You want the waxy.

You might try Anastasia's clear silicon stick over it, it does a beautiful job of making brows look wet and a little darker.

I think Clarins tinted moisturizer would do well to give the shine effect she has, and some color/coverage. If you have light skin, the gold is a beautiful shade (even for pinky pale). Or, get the darker if your skin works with it.

Skin needs to be well-moisturized for this look (or use the Clarins tinted moisturizer above). She has said also that she uses a Chanel illuminator a lot... they have a few varieties.. it is white stuff either in a tub as a paste or a little jar as a liquid. You put it on the forehead, the bridge of the nose (and probably strategically around the eyes) to get that glowy, diffused look.

A chanel black eyeliner pencil done on the inner rim of the top (and just on the outside, toward the edge) would probably do well for the lash-liner.

Try a Clarins velvety red lip pencil with no lipstick for the lips (smudge gently, dab with gloss if you want), or try a gentle lipstain. (Or maybe if any lipstick one of Clinique's terrific sheer ones.)

For the hair, take a shower, comb and do nothing.
