I'm ashamed to say that I only just discovered this thread  But I'm having a lot of fun browsing through it! ^_^ Thankyou to everyone who has contributed

Adorefaith, thank you! That bed is really cool! But how does the TV part work. Is it projected from the outside?

that's a good question ilaugh
i'm actually not sure to be honest
i would assume it would have to be projected from outside....though i'm not sure how that would work either

i am in love with the dishes at www.loftparty.com . i've already begged my mom for a set for college but she has insisted that they're a little excessive for a tiny kitchen-less dorm room :/

Your decor style?

I am moving into a new apartment with 2 other girls for university next year, and since I'm not too fond of them, I plan on spending a lot of time in my bedroom. :p I have been thinking of what I want to do decor-wise, and I just don't know where to start!
Maybe everyone can share their own personal styles and we can all draw ideas? I'd love to hear if all you fashionistas are just as stylish with your environments as you are with your clothing!
:flower:

(I apologize if this wasn't the right place to post!)

Whatever you do with the look of your apartment, make sure you have 'house rules' about keeping common areas neat and tidy. It will make you all much more comfortable day after day! :flower: Perhaps you three could spend a little bonding time shopping for things for the apartment - that way you could have all your arguments in public places instead of invading the peace of your apartment.

One agreement could be - walk in the door happy and considerate! :woot:

The Coco Chanel suite at the Ritz...

Does any one know where I can get that exact or almost exact paint color? I want to paint a room with that color :)

One word, "minimalist" I prefer clear, clean areas of open space with neautral coloring. It's not merely as an aesthetic, but to foster a healthy mental environment. I don't place anything in the area above my eye level. Most things are much lower, and that really gives an incredible light, airy fullness to the spaces in my home. So much of what's out in the world is distraction and information overload, or stuff that's out there just to fill space or time. I like a pure, open space where there's room for inspiration to happen. Cluttered environments tend to shut me down.

this is interesting....

'celeste'
by Belgian designer Kris Van den Berghe

"Celeste is a sky" says Belgian designer Kris Van den Berghe. In fact, you can project images of the sky, day or night, onto the canopy to get the full celestial effect. But it's also surprisingly functional, as it can also be used as a separator to create privacy and as a screen for your projection TV. It's made of a white extensible material that can be dismantled and washed. Celeste was a graduation project at Katholieke Hogeschool Mechelen's school of architecture.

mocoloco

that is so unbelievably cool.

I am going to redecorate my room. And I was thinking of painting it in a neutral colour (eggshell) and wallpaper just one wall with damasque print. Do you like it? I need opinions, because I don't have imagination. Would it look tacky?

I love the damasque wallpaper, but not the eggshell painting, only if the wallpaper have it, if it doesn't you should use a pearl white paint.:flower:

I love the closet and laundry doors!

And what does the speaker thing do? Is it for the television, or for music?

Beautiful etro, thanks. I'm going to save them to my computer since the sort of outline of that is something i would love my boyfriend and i to have. I really really love the use of the brick wall. These days it's so easy to just have a brick wall and think 'oh how nyc, how converted loft apartment' so it's great to see it in an non over exposed sort of way if this makes sense. I love it in the kitchen. I just love red in kitchens, especially a sort of raw earthiness. The doors are beautiful. Did you choose tiles for the bathroom or was that how it came? I like your mix of industrial, urban, soft, hard. It's nice to see the juxtapostion in things like the war bowl. The steel floor is in interesting in concept (and also good for keeping clean) though it kind of makes me think of a car garage. that said i think it looks great and is a great reflection of you. How much of it did you put in (ie lighting, tiles, countertops, etc.) and how much of it was there? Thanks so much for sharing!

The only thing there was the walls lol...everything else was done anew.

Laugh the Bang & Olufsen speaker (Beo Sound 1) is a self contained unit that has CD/FM radio/iPod output all on the back of it.

thanks for sharing etro
how long did you spend getting it all done?

Was able to get it done in about 3 weeks. It's all about finding the right people and per$uading them to get the job done.
