MAC paints (IMO)

Does anyone know how the Mac paints work? Are they really long lasting/smudge proof? Cuz I have this problem where my eyes constantly water and I can't wear eye makeup. But when I do, I end up rubbing it all off! Thanks!

Hiya - i recently ventured into the land of MAC paints.. and i left rather unimpressed.

In a nutshell: Paints are over-rated as an eyeshadow base. If you wanted to apply Paint as an all-over eyecolour, i'd recommend it - with the caveat that some colours perform better than others.

Here's my story - i tried: Structural Brown and bought ArtJam and Sublime Nature (for reference, i'm NC42-45ish or CoverFX I40/B15).

All 3 paints performed differently.

ArtJam gave me the smoothest application and the least smeary-looking on my lids. Unfortunately i gave it away b/c turns out that the colour didn't suit me - even with Pigment (Violet) on top.

Structural Brown was also quite smooth in application - BUT - it gave me an eye-infection!!! Evil!!!!

Sublime Nature was the most neutral eyecolour - but wasn't as smooth in application and was a bit smeary-looking.

My intention was to use Paint as an eyeshadow base on my upper eye-lid and apply Pigment or Eyeshadow on top, so that these would stay. i wasn't impressed with the whole: "you must use Paint as an eyeshadow base bla-bla-bla". i've had FAR better results mixing my Pigment or Eyeshadow with Murine Natural Tears eyedrops - on my eyelids without Paint or any other eyeshadow base. For some reason the eyedrops work to set my Eyeshadow or Pigment. That being said, i wasn't impressed with MAC eyeshadow.. and prefer UrbanDecay eyeshadow (or even Almay!) for application and staying power, when mixed with the eyedrops.

Hope this helps answer your question.

I have the pink one, pearl blossom. it's really, really pretty. i'm very, very fair and cool toned and it's awesome. it's not a blush really but since i'm so fair i can use it as one. it's more of an all over glow kind of powder. get it if you can find it. they are selling out.

Structural brown is okay. I liked the brown shade they first had when they came out with the paints many years ago. I don't like how flat the colour looks on my eyes.

here's a link to a news story that discusses the phenomenon of the barbie loves mac collection. the spokesperson says they expect the bestsellers of the collection to return again in the permanent line.

here's a pic from makeuptalk of the strange hybrid collection

for those of you that mightve missed out on some of the barbie loves mac products...its seems like maccosmetics.com might be restocking. some of the items that sold out the first day have a "coming soon" tag on 'em.

there's also a collaboration with paulina rubio coming out soon. its a gold coloured lipstick apparently.

I am not the target audience of the Barbie collection, that's for sure ;) The other upcoming ones look pretty promising ...

Anyone have a shade recommendation for *red* nail polish (for my toes)?

hey guys do u know a mac product the give the blush-effect, to punt on the cheeck bones, or on the nose to give shy? thanks in advice

I have just bought some products from the Barbie range, anyone bought a MAC Barbie lipstick? I was going to, but the one I liked the look of has sold out.

I got the Barbie eyeshadow in Mothbrown.

Does anybody know if Mac has changed the name of the strobe cream to skin primer?

my absolute favorite red polish is Essie "Jelly Apple". it's not too pink and not too blue - very neutral. it's a very vibrant red, and lasts longer on me than anything else. i like to use MAC's topcoat - it keeps the color bright and shiny. ^_^

the only lipstick from the Barbie collection that i bought is "Real Doll". it's a lustre, fairly sheer, and bubblegum pink. i thought it was cute (a veryvery Barbie-looking color) and it's completely different than anything else i own, so i figured i'd go for it. :innocent: it looks nice with a smoky eye - kind of a fun twist on a nude lip.

i love my Mothbrown and i really want to get another one! i also picked up Beautyburst because i thought the color (reddish brown) might go well with my eye color (blue). we'll see!

I finally got a chance to look at the Barbie collection yesterday, and I really like the Beauty Powders...
I have quite pale skin, but with a pink undertone so I was looking particularly at the brown beauty poweder, as opposed to the pink. I'm just wondering, if I use it, will it give me a little colour, and will it make me look too 'shiny'?
