The Mascara Thread

I love YSL the traditional golden cover one, its amazing you never end up with chunks of mascara on your eyelashes and makes your lashes look very natural and long...amazing effect

I use Neutrogena Clean Lash Tint, it's new, but it works really well. It's very nice for summer, since it's not too intense.

I take back what I said in a previous post about DiorShow Waterproof being good. I had only tried it once when I tried my friends and it seemed good, but I had just put it over my Anna Sui pink mascara. So the other day I went out to buy it, and came home and tried it, and personally, I think it's horrible! It flakes, seems like it doesn't dry (lashes feel wet), smears and smudges like crazy (w/out me even touching my lashes) and as soon as water hit them, I looked like a racoon! I wonder if it's just me because from the looks of all the posts, everyone here gives it great reviews.. I think i'll just stick with my Anna Sui Superwaterproof b/c I know that works for sure!

i agree with Dulcisima , YSL mascara is the best , .. it really makes my lashes too long , longer than what i want sometimes .. my friends question me if am wearing fake eyelashes lol it IS a great mascara

I'm thinking about maybe investing in my very first tube of overpriced mascara. I'm debating between Benefit BadGal lash and DiorShow.

I'd go with DiorShow (I have it and love it). My sister bought Benefit and likes it, though I think she's going to be getting DiorShow next. There was a SA from Sephora that said that the Benefit BadGal lash was an imitation of DiorShow, and that DiorSHow was better? I dont know how accurate that info is.. but that's what she said!

first post :D

and sorry if this was asked before, but is using a waterproof mascara everyday bad for your lashes? cause ive been using various waterproofs(but i think i might settle for diorshow or ysl after reading all these reviews) for almost 2 years now almost everyday. i havent really noticed a change, but that may be because my eyelashes are VERY whimpy to begin with

If you use enough mascara to finish it in a month, I recommend :

Yves Saint Laurent - Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils
( it dries off after a month, the only downpoint ) + it smells so nice.

Oh yes... I have that... It's nice for fluttery lashes. I did notice that it really doesn't do much anymore, and I've had it for a month or so... I just use it when I'm going running for a dab of color..

YSL is definitely the BEST mascara I've ever worn. I like trying others but none came close to YSL. The waterproof one is also VERY good. I wear it all the time at the beach and it doesn't come out, smudge, flake etc... It lasts for a couple days flawlessly - if you're lazy to take it off :D It takes time

^ It is a very nice mascara indeed. The only problem is that it doesn't give a curl on me, only volume.

Nevermind about spending a lot of money in mascara, with the cheap ones you get all the result you can get imo. The technique is what it should be worked.
First curl the lashes with a metal curler.
Never apply mascara facing a mirror but with a hand mirror and looking up. Dip well the brush and if there is excess, use a tissue. Apply as many coats as you desire using a zig zag motion.
If you use an hot curler, use it after applying the mascara. But from what i´ve noticed, hot curlers used after take the drama off. Although it sounds strange, the warmness of the curler melts the mascara, and takes the effect (like volume, for example).

Maybelline Volum´Express for drama and volume and Loreal Panoramic for long wide spread lashes, are just fabulous.

sofia, you are so helpful   question for you, should you let the mascara dry between coats or not? i find that if i don't, the mascara gets too watery/gloppy.

I have started to use dark blue mascera. It is very unnoticably blue, but the effect is great. Especially when you are in the sun. Though it is not as easy to find in the States as it is in Europe.

have tried lancome before but i don't think its mascara meets up to expectation
helen rubenstein is the best mascara i have used. no smudges, great color, and good at volumize and lengthen lashes
fasio, a cheaper line of kose / kanebo (i forgot) is a good deal too

Girls, could you suggest me a mascara for lenses wearers? I want to buy something like YSL or Dior but don't know if for ex. Dior Show fits for me. I've tried YSL False Lashes and when a piece of mascara (there was strong wind though) got into my eye it was terrible
:(((

I also wear lenses but i don't seem to have any problems with mascara. I'm thinking about getting Diorshow but it is quite expensive.

i also wear contacts, but i get the almost exact opposite reaction as you. i.e. when i wear mascara and wear glasses, it hurts SOO much when i accidently poke my eye or a flake falls into my eyes. but when i wear contacts, the mascara just sorta rubs off and gets stuck on my contact. sometimes it can look quite scary cause i'll have a random black spot on my eye

i know that all almay mascaras are contact lense friendly. i tried the "One Coat Nurishing Mascara," the thickening and waterproof one, and i was satisfied. the brush is almost as big as DiorShows though.

hope this helps :flower:

Mary Kay Endless Performance Mascara

It took me quite some time to find a mascara which worked for me. I have a hard time with Mascaras smudging under my bottom lashes. Being a redhead, I absolutely have to wear mascara or it looks like I just woke up, even if I've been up for 12 hours! :P

I've found that Mary Kay Endless Performance Mascara is pretty awesome. It comes in black and brown (I prefer black). It lasts all day and comes off really easily with their eye makeup remover. No more black smudges for me!

I have contact lenses as well and both of Mary Kay's products are safe and gentle for my eyes.
