The Mascara Thread

when using a mascara with a base coat [the white stuff]

do you wait until the base coat dries to put on the top coat? or do you put on the top coat while the base coat is still wet?

No matter what kind of mascara I use, it won't hold a curl. Even if I curl AFTER I put it on, nothing works!

If curling's all you want, you could try Giorgio Armani's Star Lash. It curls very well after 3 coats. It doesn't do much in the volume department, though. Have you tried YSL's Infini Curl? I haven't tried it, but YSL makes a great product so it may be worth it. Their Volume #7 Faux Cils has got to be the best mascara in the market right now. Fabulous!

Kellybelly, I usually apply the mascara right after coating the lashes w/the primer because it tries pretty fast. The times I've applied the mascara after the primer has dried, the lashes came out looking like tarantulas.

I want fake looking, bimbo bambi eyelashes. I want volume, curl, length, everything. Maybe I should go for the lash extentions.

Uchina, whatever you do don't do lash extensions. They look great, but they will damage your lashes.

I bought Lancome Fatale and tried it the other day... it was horrible!! it was very wet and clumpy and it made my eyes stick together n not only that but the brush was very hard to use. i dunno maybe i didn't know how to use the brush correctly but anyway, it was a waste of money.

It definitely takes practice. I think the result is worth it though. One important point: use each side of the 3-sided comb only once and do not dip it into the tube again.

I just bought Lancomes L'extreme mascara, hoping it would make my lashes longer, but i was disappointed, bacouse it didnt make them longer than other mascaras I used before, like diorshow.
And to make it even better it made them look weird like wrinkeld or something like that:cry: so I was wondering if anyone knows a good mascara that makes your lashes look really really long???????

Which mascaras make your lashes look thicker (although not overly thick as I'm aiming for a natural look) yet SOFT and HEALTHY/NATURAL? A bonus would be if it CURLS as well :)
Please recommend anyone :) Thank you.

So far, I found that Clinique High Impact and Clinique Lash Doubling mascras are both quite good. The High Impact one being much more natural looking than I expected yet also very thick. Still room for improvement though as I'm looking for something that curls and more on the soft looking side. The Lash Doubling is good for those of you who want to be able to reach the tiny lashes in the corner of your eyes since it's got a great lash wand :)

i decided on lancome, but should i get the definicils or fatale? i have pretty long curled lashes naturally but i want them even longer and extremely defined. thanks :flower:

I'm Asian with long eyelashes, but they're pretty thin. My eyes get watery sometimes... it doesn't get watery enough to look like I'm crying, but it's enough to make mascara run. I've been looking for something that volumizes and is waterproof. I've tried a few from bobbi brown and mac, but didn't like any of them. I've been reading maybe 15 pages of this thread and also reviews on other sites. I've pretty much narrowed down my choices to: shu uemura precise volume mascara waterproof, shu uemura mascara basic, or diorshow waterproof. Of these three, which one do you guys think would be better for me?

When I was using Lash XL by Estee Lauder it gave me very long eyelashes. Maybe u wanna try it. It lasts long as well!

Diorshow Unlimited sounds AMAZING.... I personally love Diorshow, so i'm sure i will adore Diorshow unlimited.
Also there's a new one from Chanel Inimitable (multi (four)-dimensional mascara) Spectacular volume, infinite length, extreme curl, instant separation.

L'Oreal Voluminous mascara is still my fave mascara so far..... anything BETTER than that? I am looking for a mascara with a more WOW effect, that I can use with no eyeliner or eyeshadow..... to create lashes that really stand out on their own without the need of a lash curler (I think lash curlers make lashes look quite tacky and unnatural, a bit too Barbie-like).... And I don't necessarily want a mascara that specializes in curling lashes.....

From what I heard, Chanel, Lancome and Diorshow/snow!? mascaras give the best results..... which brand of mascara is the best? Time to invest.....

I want to know which is the best colour of mascara for green and brown eyes. I've heard is aubergine, but other people told me navy blue. I don't know which colour will suit me better.
