The Mascara Thread

I got the DiorShow and I wasn't impressed either..
I don't think I'll buy it again, Lancome and Estee Lauder mascaras are much better

Shu Uemera's Precise Volume is pretty awesome at staying put. Kind of a more natural lash look, though

^Agree. The brush is big, also the formula smudges and flakes after a few hours.

I don't get why people love Lancome's Hypnose mascara. It was such a waste of money. I especially hate the brush.

I grabbed a sample of the Diorshow Unlimited, and it was nothing amazing.

Lancome Hypnose and Extencils ROCK.. if i have $£$ i only use them. When im broke its maybelline

i just got a great lash waterproof mascara from maybelline..... :ninja: i think i made a big mistake, I just needed a really tough mascara for overnights, that wouldn't give me raccoon eyes when I wake up....

i have three questions :blush::

1) I heard it is VERY hard to take out, does the maybelline eye makeup remover works for this waterproof great lash?

2) Can I loose my lashes if I sleep with this mascara on, let's say, once or twice a week?

3) And since I have very oily face, will I have raccoon eyes when I wake up? And what about under the rain, does it drip or does it crease under humidity?

thanks a lot..... :flower:

I'd like a mascara that REALLY takes my eyelashes to a whole other level... as someone said before, i'm going for the "sex-ed up babydoll lashes" - extreme makeup, please!
Does anyone have any suggestions, at all? I've been using MAC Fibre Riche, but don't think it works well enough. It gets too clumpy too easily. Don't care for the Magnascopic either (I think it's Lancome). Don't like Clinique...
so, with those exceptions, anything that anyone can recommend? To thicken voluminously?? :)

The look you are describing can be achieved with YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Luxurious Mascara (for a False Lash Effect) and HR's Spectacular or Surrealist Mascaras.

Thank you, Lisa! I really appreciate the info - btw, what is HR? And do you know where YSL makeup is available (in MI)? Do you think Macy's/Nordstrom's will have it?

Thanks again!

You are welcome luvmelots1983. HR is Helena Rubenstein and it used to be available in the States, however it isn't anymore.

"However, Helena Rubinstein products are still available in over 50 countries around the world, in many duty free shops, and in all countries in European." (from their website)

Thanks, Lisa, for all the information! I certainly will be on the lookout for the mascaras on my next trip to Europe, in December.

In the meanwhile, I've tried Diorshow, and I'm really liking it. I used it the other day for a party, and I used 3 coats (more than my usual 1) and it looked amazing! I got a great "fake lash" effect. However, I'm still hoping for more va-va-voom, so the HR should come in handy. :) Thanks again!

Has anyone tried the new Chanel mascara? I can't recall the name at the moment . I was also wondering if someone could tell me whether you are supposed to curl your lashes before or after you apply mascara... I did it once after I applied mascara and the damn curler cut off the tips of my eyelashes   . Im not sure if it was just a crappy eyelash curler, or if it was the method.

Just wanted to add another recommendation for Chanel Inimitable. I was given a sample when I bought some Black Satin nail polish, and bought the real thing a few days later because I was so pleased with the results. It has a different kind of brush, I'm not sure how to describe it, but it's really made a difference to how my lashes look. I'm obsessed with my lashes by the way
Does exactly what it says on the tin, my lashes are lengthened, curled, seperated, not clumpy but well defined. Combined with the Lancome white base mascara Cils Booster XL, I have my best looking lashes. ^_^

lol- thats what its called! Inimitable... ill have to try it now...

Hi HotSpot- not sure if you already got a response to this, but you definitely want to curl your lashes BEFORE you apply mascara- otherwise, since your lashes are already brittle from being dried out from the mascara, they run the risk of breaking much more easily. Also, having a good eyelash curler is key, or it can pull lashes out. I've heard great things about the Shu curler, and I've got the MAC, which I cant complain about. Hope this helps!

Does anyone know if the Chanel Inimitable really, really thickens and voluminizes for that sex kitten look I'm looking for? Between that and the YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Luxurious Mascara, which one is better? Anyone actually tried both? I'd REALLY appreciate any response you have!

I have tried both and I definitely like the chanel one better...but occasionally pair the two for killer lashes....sorry not much help!
