Agency question....

I was wondering if any agencies are affiliated with each other?

I've noticed that a LOT of IMG models are also WHYNOT models....

Anyone have an answer?

Some of the agencies in the states don't have agencies in Milan or Paris so the girls go to an affiliated agency overseas if they are working there. I'm not sure if IMG does or not.

Each agency generally has a 'sister' agency and also divisions within itself. Example:

WOMEN (NYC), has a division called 'supreme' and is sisters with STORM in london.

STORM (Lon) also has a sister in Paris called 'CITY' and several other around the globe.

I use Storm because I was with them but there are many more examples.

Oh, another one: Elite has a sister agency within NYC called 'One'

Hope that helps.

Agency contract

Has anyone such as a MUA, stylist, or hairstylist signed with an agency? Reason for asking I am about to sign with an agency that want's to represent me and I wanted to get an idea of the amount of commissions agencies take.

I am fairly new, so forgive me if I just jump right in, but I've browsed this site for the last two days and this seems like a hardcore fashion site.

Any input would be greatly appreciated as I said I am fairly new, and want to know if I'm getting the best possible deal.

Many thanks,

SFH

my friend signed with a 10% commission, but she had worked before that...so i'm not positive

Don't just concentrate on the commission %. Look at the whole thing. The duration of the contract, the cancelation terms.

Also find out if you only pay commission on clients they introduce you to, any new client from the date you sign or if you even have to start paying the agency cut on your existing clients  .

Who invoices the client you or the agency? If it is the latter then how long until you actually get your money?

Better still, find someone from a legal background to check it out for you.

Legally terminology of the contract I am comfortable with (I was pre-law) hence my giving you the short version.

The contract is for a year, billing/collecting is to be done by the agency.

I wanted to know if the following was routine in the industry:

15% on assignments obtained by the agency.
10% on Foreign assignments
8% on House Clients I bring in.

Like I said all the other stuff is fairly routine, in fact this contract would be quite easy to break as the person who wrote it, didn't close any of the loopholes.

Anyone who has an opinion please share it. I am open to all.

cheers

i never had to sign a contract with my agency...
and the standard as far as i know is 20 % agency commission unless you negotiate otherwise...

i'm located in nyc...don't know where you are ...
